AMALGAMATION @ Little Theatre
LOCAL dance companies certainly held their own alongside their international counterparts at Amalgamation, held at the Little Theatre in St Andrew on Saturday and Sunday.
The event, which was organised by Plié for the Arts, saw presentations by dancers from some of the top companies in the United States as well as The National Dance Theatre Company Dance Theatre of Jamaica (NDTC), Movements Dance Theatre, The Company, and Stella Maris Dance Ensemble. The pieces performed from the repertoires of the Jamaican companies were strong and reflected the diversity in the offering from the local community.

The company is known for mixing the styles of the Caribbean with dance genres such as Modern Dancing, Hip Hop, Reggae and Contemporary.
The 19th Season of Dance for DTX will be held in November 2014 at the Little Theatre.

One Love Peace Concert: National Stadium Kingston Jamaica 1978
The One Love Peace Concert was a large concert held on April 22, 1978 at The National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica.
This concert was held during a political civil war in Jamaica between opposing parties Jamaican Labour Party and the People’s National Party. The concert came to its peak during Bob Marley and The Wailers’ performance of “Jammin'”. It was during this time when he called both Manley and Seaga to the stage, and in a symbolic gesture, the three held up their hands together to signify their unity.
