Marconi museum
This video is of the Marconi museum on the cliffs at Bass point near Housel bay, between Landewednack and The Lizard village, Cornwall, UK. The building is the oldest radio station in the world and was built in 1910. It was first owned by the trains and then it was owned by GWR. The museum is owned by the National trust now and is sometimes open.
Life on the Lizard - local area tour
The Lizard Peninsula is the most Southerly point in the UK. Almost an island, it is surrounded on 3 sides by the sea. Only a small land bridge at the source of the Helford river connects the Lizard to the mainland.
The rugged coastline makes for some of the most dramatic and picturesque coastal walks in the country.
The Lizard town is the perfect place to finish your walk. With a well earned pint at the historic “Top House Inn”.
It is also home to the Lizard lighthouse. Which has been keeping shipping safe for over 250 years. It also houses a museum that is run by the National Trust.
Goonhilly Satellite Earth Station is famous for many reasons. Most notably the dishes here received the first satellite Television broadcasts in 1962. It is now playing a key role in deep space exploration and is home to Cornwall Segway.
Another historic first in Communication, occurred just down the road. When in 1901 Marconi sent the first transatlantic wireless signal.
Poldhu Cove is now popular with surfers and beach goers. And also has the most incredible sunsets...

Mullions Cove via Kynance cove to Lizard Point walk Cornwall UK Made by Huggie Huggie2love
Highlights of my journey along the Beautiful Unspoilt Picturesque Mullion Cove via Kynance cove on to Lizard Point, Lizard Lighthouse, Church cove it’s steeped in history with spectacular coastal views The Breathtaking views l see are free and there priceless, what a spectacular views you get at Lizard Point, where the waves batter the coastline. The coastal path walk is from a historic Mullion fishing Cove via Kynance cove on to Lizard Point, Lizard Lighthouse. Hope you like and enjoy this new video. Also l want to thank you all so much for your kinds words and great comments you made on all my coastal path walk videos, Made by Huggie Huggie2love.
Walks along the cliffs are well worth the effort. There are some stunning views from the coastal footpath. an attractive walk along the cliffs. It is a sandy beach popular with surfers. The coastal path runs through Polurrian Cove, along the cliffs, down through Mullion Cove and up again on to Predannack Heath.
The dramatic Mullion Cove is a must. It is owned by the National Trust and has a pretty working harbour, protected from the winter gales by stout sea walls. The harbour was completed in 1895 The cove had a lifeboat station from 1867 until 1909, as there were frequent wrecks under Mullion cliffs along a stretch of dangerous coastline. Inland there are the remains of Wheal Unity copper mine, which operated for about 200 years from the early 18th century.
Mullion is the largest village on the Lizard and has shops, inns, cafes and restaurants, craft shops and art galleries. There is a golf course close to Mullion. In the centre of the village, the mainly 13th century church of St Mellanus is renowned for its richly-carved oak bench-ends
The POLDHU wireless station was used by the Marconi company for the first trans-oceanic service of wireless telegraphy which was opened with a second Marconi station at Glance bay in Canada in 1902.When the Poldhu station was erected in 1900 wireless was in its infancy, when it was demolished in 1935, wireless was established for communication on land, at sea and in the air.
Mullion Golf Club situated on the cliffs of the Lizard Peninsula is not only the most Southerly course but one of the most beautiful courses in the West Country. Framed by sandy coves and protected reed beds, the course, now well past it's centenary, has always attracted the literary giants who not only enjoyed the golf but also fascinated by the ambience.
At Kynance Cliff the path travels around some rocky outcrops crusted with yellow and green lichens and then drops steeply downhill to the cove.
Kynance is one of the prettiest coves in Cornwall and as a result one of the most painted and photographed. It is now owned by the National Trust the brilliant turquoise water and white sand, with islands, caves and unexpected views Located less than 2 miles from The Lizard and once remote and difficult to get to, but is one of the most beautiful seaside locations with it picturesque, cove
The coastal formations are shapely, the black rocks outstanding, the sand soft and almost white and the orange lichen contrasts superbly with the blue sky, turquoise water and green grass. Nature at her most artistic Kynance Cove a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Lizard Complex, composed of peridotite and serpentinite. These are both igneous rocks, formed through volcanic processes between 359 and 416 million years ago
Quaint cottages line the road to Church Cove and St Wynwallow Church is a halfway point between the cove and the village. Although only a small cove, many goings on can be observed, such as the small fishing boats that are launched from the slipway by local fishermen and the Lizard lifeboat station can be seen from the cliffs.
St Wynwallow's Church, Landewednack, The Lizard St Wynwallow's Church in the pretty hamlet of Landewednack is the most southerly church in mainland Britain. The church was probably founded around AD 600, though no obvious remains of that first church can be seen today. The church is largely built of granite and the local serpentine stone, creating an attractive patchwork pattern of stone.
The Lizard Lifeboat Station can refer to several Royal National Lifeboat Institution lifeboat stations located on The Lizard in Cornwall, The Lizard lifeboat station is located at Kilcobben Cove on The Lizard peninsula.

CRHnews - Equipment made at Marconi's world first wireless factory finally return home
Two lifelong Marconistas recreated the famous 1901 photograph portraying the Great Man and his Right Hand Man with cutting edge equipment on the final day of 'Building the Wireless Age' exhibition at Hall Street, Chelmsford, on Sunday, May 29, 2016.
The awesome display included a coherer receiver and spark coil, both originals manufactured at the world's first wireless factory, a Siemens Morse inker that was badged and sold by Marconi, a grasshopper key and a Marconi galvanometer.
A fitting end indeed to a remarkable 'Marconi Spring' - three months of weekend public openings before the listed building isdestined to be converted into apartments, a smaller mirror image of the awful fate suffered earlier by the once mighty New Street factory.
Can you imagine any other country, say America, Russia, or the Pitcairn Islands, boasting the world's first wireless factory allowing it to become flat!!!!!
Whatever did Marconi the man who built this City on electronic rock and roll, do wrong?
The worlds first Wireless and Telegraphy factory at Marconi's Hall Street works, hailed as the ‘birthplace of radio' , is featuring a unique exhibition which highlights the part played by these unsung heroes.
There are photographs of women, redundant silk weavers, whose nimble fingers spun the copper wires and the tough guys who sweated in the noisy machine shop.
Without the SOS equipment they made, 1.500 from the Titanic and Lusitania disasters would have perished, not to mention countless other shipwrecked souls who survived other sinkings.
Although MSW is staging an exhibition, its aim has never been to open a Marconi Museum, but to promote the setting up of STEM (Science Technology Engineering Maths) Clubs in the Birthplace of Radio to encourage young people to become future Marconi's and even rocket scientists!
To celebrate the history and legacy of Marconi and the Marconi Company in Chelmsford, this commemorative event is hosted between March and May 2016 in the Grade II listed building prior to its conversion into residential and commercial units.
This Exhibition has been organised by the Marconi Heritage Group in affiliation with the Chelmsford Civic Society, at the request of the developers MAC Design and Build Ltd to allow the public access to the significant industrial heritage of the building.
Archival material from a variety of sources will be showcased, in many cases for the first time. Contributors include The International Marconi Museum in Bologna, The Museum of the History of Science, Oxford, the Essex Record Office, Chelmsford Museums and several private collections.
Local families with their own small collections of Marconi-related memorabilia have also contributed.
This is a major opportunity to share the Marconi legacy, and showcase the evidence for the claim of Chelmsford City's entry signs: Birthplace of Radio.
Chelmsford Science and Engineering Society is proud to support Marconi Science WorX (MSW) and Chelmsford Civic Society in collaboration with BBC Essex which exists thanks to the great man's pioneering work at Hall Street.
Although they are staging the exhibition, MSW's main aim is not to open another Marconi Museum, but promote after-school STEM clubs to encourage young people maybe to become rocket scientists or the next Marconi.

Landsend Radio GLD in the 1960's
Landsend Radio GLD was the United Kingdom's coast radio station covering the all important southwestern approaches to the UK. The station took over from Marconi's original Lizard station, retaining it's callsign.

CRHnews - Last hurrah at Marconi's world first wireless factory?
Chris Neale, part of the Hall Street Gang of Three addresses Invited guests during a farewell tea party in the world's first wireless factory, the birthplace of wireless/radio, Marconi Wireless Telegraphy Co Ltd, Hall Street, Chelmsford, in May, 2016, before it is turned into apartments, just like the world's first purpose-built wireless factory, Marconi New Street.
Many thanks must go to all the Chelmsford City Councillors who rallied round to pay vocal support to saving one tiny final last corner where Marconi actually trod for the nation, how wonderful that they stood by in an hour of need.
So lets turn the clock back to the unique Marconi Exhibition that took place during March April May at the works which Marconi established in 1898.
A full scale replica of the Titanic's wireless room took pride of place at Hall Street whose factory workers saved the lives of Titanic/Lusitania survivors and countless thousands.
The worlds first Wireless and Telegraphy factory at Marconi's Hall Street works, hailed as the ‘birthplace of radio' featured a unique exhibition which highlights the part played by these unsung heroes.
There were photographs of women, redundant silk weavers, whose nimble fingers spun the copper wires and the tough guys who sweated in the noisy machine shop.
Without the SOS equipment they made, 1.500 from the Titanic and Lusitania disasters would have perished, not to mention countless other shipwrecked souls who survived other sinkings.
Although MSW staged an exhibition, its aim was never to open another Marconi Museum, but to promote the setting up of STEM (Science Technology Engineering Maths) Clubs in the Birthplace of Radio to encourage young people to become future Marconi's and even rocket scientists!
This 'Marconi Spring' events was organised by the Marconi Heritage Group in affiliation with the Chelmsford Civic Society and at the request of the developers MAC Design and Build Ltd to allow the public access to the significant industrial heritage of the building.
Archival material from a variety of sources was showcased, in many cases for the first time.
Contributors included The International Marconi Museum in Bologna, The Museum of the History of Science, Oxford, the Essex Record Office, Chelmsford Museums and several private collections.
Local families with their own small collections of Marconi-related memorabilia also contributed.
It was a rare major opportunity to share the Marconi legacy, and showcase the evidence for the claim of Chelmsford City's entry signs: Birthplace of Radio.
Chelmsford Science and Engineering Society was proud to support Marconi Science WorX (MSW) and Chelmsford Civic Society in collaboration with BBC Essex which exists thanks to the great man's pioneering work at Hall Street.
MSW's main aim is to promote after-school STEM clubs to encourage young people maybe to become rocket scientists or the next Marconi.
A series of talks was organised, here is a selection from the final month:
Fri 14/Saty 15 May: Come and make a radio! Years 6-9 (10-14) Three sessions on each day at 10am 12 noon and 2pm £5 each, to book a place see below. Build your own wireless in the world's first wireless factory.
Fri 13 May: 7.15pm The exciting story of offshore radio and Radio Caroline the true story of the boat that rocked with Cap'n Ray Clark.
Fri 20 May: 7.15pm A brief history of Ada Lovelace, her work with Charles Babbage and her influence in the creation of world's first computer and how she effected the world we know today and inspired women in all fields of technology.
