With beautiful rolling hills and gorgeous secluded beaches nearby the town of Matakana is a bucolic paradise for those wanting to get away from the big smoke for a while. The town has some fabulous art galleries and boutique shops, and on the weekends the Saturday Farmers Markets have all sorts of knick-knacks and local produce to tempt you. If you're feeling a little more energetic take a horse ride along the beach and through the hills for an exhilarating experience you'll never forget.

Matakana Farmers Market, Matakana village
During the two weeks school holiday, we explored the Matakana region in upper north area of Auckland. We went to the popular Matakana farmer Saturday market, where you can taste delicious food, and buy fresh veges and fruits. After visiting the market, we drove 25 minutes to Tawharanui Regional park, which is New Zealand's first open sanctuary which integrates conservation, sustainable farming and recreation.
On the way back to Auckland we visited Parry Kauri park in Warkworth and saw the nearly 1000 years old Kauri tree.

The picturesque Matakana region is a foodie's heaven known for its weekend farmers market, boutique food shops and spectacular vineyards.
Only an hour north of Auckland city and close to a myriad of stunning east coast beaches, Matakana is a popular getaway spot for locals and visitors alike. Matakana is foodie heaven - if you enjoy home-grown delicacies and award-winning wine then look no further.

Pak'nSave Sylvia Park Shopping Mall Auckland
This is a glimpse of what supermarkets in New Zealand look like. There are three giant players here in the supermarket world. Pak n' Save (which I think is the cheapest of them all), Countdown (Average Pricing in my opinion), New World (on the expensive side I believe).
We will feature the other 2 groceries in our future uploads :)
