A Curious Concealment in Whitefield, Manchester
'Inner Lives: Emotions, Identity and the Supernatural, 1300-1900' is a collaborative project between the Universities of East Anglia, Hertfordshire, and UCL. Ceri Houlbrook is a research assistant on this project, working on a sub-strand entitled 'The Concealed Revealed', looking primarily at concealed deposits within buildings; these are objects that have been secreted away within walls, under floorboards, above ceilings, and up chimneybreasts. They were possibly put there to protect the household from malevolent supernatural threats such as demons, witches, and spirits. Ceri is surveying concealed deposits across the British Isles, interviewing their finders to see what they think of them and to find out what becomes of these deposits once they're found; once the concealed becomes revealed. This is a video of Ceri's interview with Elaine Maher, the finder of a curious illustration in the wall of her 1906 house in Whitefield, Manchester.

Girr Island Railway 3 - A new loco.
Having lusted after a Class 22 for some time, I took the plunge! What a beauty! This is the heavily weathered limited edition split headcode box version in green acquired from The Locoshed in Whitefield - thanks Jim!
To offset all this investment in motive power, some economies have had to be made with rolling stock. The former Triang, later Hornby clerestory coach being one such. This still stands up well to scrutiny, and here I've adapted one set of 2 cars to a Push Pull set. Further mods will be seen in later uploads e.g. Camping Coaches.
