Inwood Valley, Long Mynd, Church Stretton - Aerial Video
Just north of Church Stretton, Shropshire, is Inwood valley set in the Long Mynd hill. As most attention goes to the nearby Carding Mill Valley, Inwood is a beautifully quiet spot with wildlife-rich heathland, views across the Shropshire hills and a small stream.

The Long Mynd Walk was about 8 miles in distance. The terrain of the route included hill paths, tracks and short quiet lane sections. Much of this splendid and fairly energetic walk is on land owned by the National Trust. Some paths can be a little muddy in places after rain and there are 3 stiles to climb over.

Welcome to the 6th episode of the 2nd season of the 'Places of England' series, where we will take a look at the small but famous market town of Church Stretton in southern Shropshire, placed in beautiful countryside (e.g. Long Mynd). This gave the town its famous nickname "Little Switzerland" from the late Victorian to Edwardian times. Join me, as we will take a look at its special history and buildings!
The Long Mynd Loop - Minton Batch, Church Stretton, Shropshire hills- GOPRO HERO
This was an epic ride around some of the Shropshire hills, absolutely stunning scenery, fun trails and laughs all round, just was rather damp and cold.

Pole Bank (Long Mynd) - Shropshire Hill Walks 4/127 Highest Shropshire Hills AONB
The very best of The Long Mynd, starting with Cardingmill Valley, Lightspout Waterfall and the Reservoir at New Hollow Pool. Then up the Burway to Shooting Box to the ancient Barrow, before heading to the highest point, Pole Bank at 516 metres (the 4th highest hill in Shropshire). Finally a good look around the Devil's Mouth, a dramatic little peak just off the Burway.

The Long Mynd walk from Shooting Box via Bridges and Ratlinghope was about 8 miles in distance. The terrain of this route terrain was a combination of wide heathland tracks; quiet country lanes; and some field paths. The walking was easy on level ground or long gentle slopes. Route finding was easy with obvious paths, good waymarking and some good landmarks. However, a map, compass and good map-reading skills would be advisable. Some of the paths were a little muddy in places. There were 6 stiles to negotiate.

Church Stretton is a small town in Shropshire, England, 13 miles south of Shrewsbury and 15 miles north of Ludlow. The town was nicknamed Little Switzerland in the late-Victorian and Edwardian period because of its landscape and became a health resort. The local geology includes some of the oldest rocks in England and a notable fault is named after the town. Today, Church Stretton is a busy market town in the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Skiing on the Long Mynd and Church Stretton Golf Club
From the Alps to the Long Mynd- this couple have taken made the best of Shropshire's heavy snowfall.
Sam Robson, 27, and Emma Blake, 25, from Shrewsbury, met skiing in the Alps and now they have brought the hobby to the county.
With the heavy snowfall on Sunday, the couple ventured to Church Stretton Golf Club and the Long Mynd.

Taken from the top of Hazler Hill looking down on Church Stretton which is a small town and civil parish in Shropshire, England. The town lies entirely in the Shropshire Hills on the A49 road approximately 13 miles (21 km) south of Shrewsbury, the county town, and 15 miles (24 km) north of Ludlow. The population of the town was recorded as 2,789 in 2001 whilst the population of the wider parish (including the adjacent settlements of All Stretton and Little Stretton) was recorded as 4,186.
The town was nicknamed Little Switzerland in the late-Victorian and Edwardian period, due to its landscape and development as a health resort. The local geology is complex and incorporates some of the oldest rocks in England - a notable fault is named after the town. Today, Church Stretton continues to be a busy market town, as well as being a destination for visitors to the surrounding natural landscape, with the Long Mynd situated immediately to the west of the town and the Stretton Hills to the east.
