The Lost Garden of Heligan | St. Austell
Cornwall England, Why is it called Lost Gardens of Heligan, Finest Gardens of Heligan, Part - 2
Why it is called Lost Gardens of Heligan, Finest Gardens of Heligan, Englands Cornwall. Prior to the second world war 22 Gardners were looking after The Heligan Gardens. At the time of the second world war all had to join the British Army to fight against the enemy army. During that period few could return alive. As time passed weeds started to cover the gardens as there was no one to look after the same. It was by chance in 1990 a door was seen and the curiosity to find out what was there an expedition started to clear the weeds. In doing so it was found out that there were buildings, plantations and statues. With dedication and hard work it was restored to its original glory and named as Lost Gardens of Heligan. This is one of the finest Gardens in Cornwall and every year visitors come in huge numbers to enjoy and appreciate its history.

The programme provides a brief history of The Lost Gardens of Heligan near Mevagissey in south Cornwall, the largest restoration project in Europe, covering the period up to the winter of 1993/94. Incorporating early footage as well as interviews with those who work on the project, it provides an atmospheric feast of visual and musical imagery.
