Lighthouse - Low Head, Tasmania
The third lighthouse to be constructed in Australia, it's also Australia's oldest continuously used pilot station. The fog horn still sounds, every Sunday at noon. Everything looks better from a drone.
My first video to be shot and edited entirely in 4k @ 30fps with my Mavic Air.

Low Head Lighthouse and Foghorn
The Low Head Light house at the mouth of the Tamar river in Tasmania Australia was built in 1833, it was replaced in 1888 by the present 21 metre brick structure.
In 1929 the 'G type Diaphone' fog horn was installed and in 2001 it was successfully re sounded. It is operated most Sunday's of the year. It is the only operational G type Diaphone in the world.
Under ideal conditions it can be heard up to 20 miles out to sea.

Day 11 - Low Head Lighthouse - Glamper Update Postcard
A charming stop in George Town and then down the road to Low Head where we stumbled across a lighthouse which reminded us of a peppermint candy cane.
Low Head Penguins Tour - On the Road to Tasmania - Part 3.
We drop in at Low Head next to George Town to go on a Penguin Tour.
The cover of darkness brings the fairy penguins out of the ocean abyss and back to the beach for bedtime in their burrows. The scientific name of the Little Penguin (formerly known as Fairy Penguin or Blue Penguin) Eudyptula minor is most descriptive. Not only are these penguins the smallest of the species, but Eudyptula means good little diver.
Low Head Penguin Tours offer penguin watching tours at Low Head in northern Tasmania. Operating at the mouth of the Tamar River, the tours offer a fascinating insight into the Little penguins (also known as Fairy penguins) making their nightly journey to their burrows.
The tour is operated along environmentally sensitive lines to ensure the penguins are not disturbed. Learn about the Little penguins and how most retain the same mate for life.

Low Head Penguin Tours - Tasmania 2015
???? visit date : 10 June 2015
???? location : Low Head - Tasmania, Australia
The scientific name of the Little Penguin (formerly known as Fairy Penguin or Blue Penguin) – Eudyptula minor – is most descriptive. Not only are these penguins the smallest of the species, but Eudyptula means ‘good little diver’.
Only 40cm (16in) tall and 1.1kg (2.4lbs)
Little Penguins are the smallest penguin species in the world. They are flightless seabirds who breed in colonies along the southern coast of Australia, as far north as Port Stephens in the east to Fremantle in the west. Subspecies are also found in New Zealand.
???? review: A very interactive memorable chasing after penguins' guided tour. Make it the one of the highlights / things to do if you visit Tasmania. ????????

A show case of beautiful George Town and Low Head, presented by Andrew Michieletto from Harcourts East Tamar.
The Fatal Coast
Tracks recently hit the road and travelled to Lennox Head and Ballina on the North Coast of New South Wales to speak to members of the community about the recent spate of shark attacks in the area.
There have been five shark attacks since February - one fatal - along with numerous incidents that have remained unreported and have been shared anecdotally around the community.
For this exclusive on-the-ground documentary Tracks spoke to professional surfer Adam Melling, Ballina Mayor David Wright, Southern Cross University Marine Biologist Doctor Daniel Bucher, Air T&G Helicopter pilot Tim Latimer, Marine Rescue Chief Commanders John Donohue & Lorraine Leuckel, Ballina Fisherman’s Co-Op representative Josh Kilgour, Positive Change for Marine Life’s Courtney Jackson, Glassing Division's Julian Webb, resident shaper Joel Fitzgerald and many other members of the Northern Rivers community to hear how the recent events have affected the region and whether or not something can be done.

Low Head, TAS - Diaphone Type G Foghorn Test - 10/20/18
NOTE: THIS IS NOT MY RECORDING. This Diaphone is located at Low Head lighthouse in north Tasmania. It’s tested every Sunday at noon. This horn is also used for fog warnings. This particular model is the only operating “Type G” Diaphone in the world and is the only Foghorn that properly functions in Australia. Enjoy!
