MG Cars Corner Abingdon
Display boards detailing the history of MG, and the MG in Abingdon, have recently been erected by the MG Car Club in the small park alongside the River Ock. The park is not far from the former Cemetery Road off Spring Rd MG Factory of which remains just the refurbished Administrative Centre. The MG car Club is also in Cemetery Road. Although the factory itself was demolished in the 1990's there still remains The Boundary House Pub former home of Cecil Kimber, (Sometimes) a MG room in Abingdon Museum.
There are some excellent Pathe News Videos of MG Abingdon on YouTube.

MG Car Club UK 80th Birthday - St. Louis MG Club Celebration Event
The MG Car Club will be staging the largest MG event ever to celebrate our 80th birthday
The first meeting of the club was on 12 October 1930 at the Roebuck Inn, Stevenage on the A1 Great North Road. The date of the event will be the weekend of the 16th-17th October 2010. The plan is for the celebratory event to start in New Zealand early in the morning and travel westwards around the globe, passing through Kimber House, Abingdon, UK at noon and finishing in Alaska late that evening.
This was the MG Club of St. Louis celebration event where our Chairman Bob B decided to have an impromptu flag waving/running event. All I did was some slow motion (he was faster in real life) and added some music. Thanks Bob - you're a great sport!

MG Cars Administration Building Survives at Abingdon
This is the original building however the brick exterior has been re-cladded with wood and metal. Fortunately the splendid leaded bay windows of the offices of Cecil Kimber and later John Thornley. Several of the modern buildings of MG Cars survive but have little character. MG Cars tourists should also visit the Boundary House Pub former home of Cecil Kimber, the (Magic) Midget Pub which has quite a lot of MG memorabilia and of the MG Car Room in the Abingdon Museum.

MG-KN - 1935 Pillarless Saloon on the MG Cars Channel -
One very rare and unusual MG model - a 4 door saloon with a K type body and an N-type engine, a unique part of the MG history. Of the original 201 built in Abingdon, only a handful survive worldwide and this is the only one known in North America. Beautifully restored by Bob Grunau of Ontario.
MG Car Exhibition & Room at Abingdon Museum for 90th Anniversary
MG Cars now have their own exhibition room in the Abingdon County Hall Museum. Although MG closed in Abingdon in the 1970's it has taken until recent years for Abingdon to recognise their importance to the town and the importance of MG to thousands of MG enthusiasts world-wide. I remember several years ago a Museum Curator explaining (incorrectly) that there was nothing left of the MG car factory, indeed at there time there wasn't much.
The MG Car seen in the beginning of this video cause chaos when it was lifted by crane into the building but then they got into difficulties I think they had to a a bigger crane, anyway Abingdon was totally blocked for several hours.
HOK 681W, the last factory built MGB, was retained by the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Collection at Gaydon. It is currently on display in the Abingdon County Hall Museum and was 'posted' into the museum through a narrow second floor window after being hoisted up sideways using a crane.
A special series model of this car is available.
The closure of MG was announced shortly after their 50th Anniversary celebrations in 1979. The closure of such a large part of its economy knocked the stuffing out of Abingdon. A factory that employed father and son was the pride of Abingdon.
Brian Moylan and other members of the MG Car Club have worked hard to restore the MG memory with regular exhibitions and car meets in the Market Place.
The Magic Midget Pub and the Boundary House Pub (Home of Cecil Kimber) should also be visited.
