New cycle lanes at Major's Corner
These have not yet been fully completed / opened. The key new bit is the cycle lane which goes past the bus stop without requiring cyclists to leapfrog the buses. This only occurs on the outbound section of Woodbridge Road, whilst the inbound route has a wide cycle lane instead. You can go on to the middle island as an alternative route. I'll get a recording of that another time.

Freedom of the Borough Homecoming March
Freedom of the Borough Homecoming March is a huge success!
Published Wednesday, 23 July 2014
Homecoming March
Hundreds line the streets of Kettering to support the Royal Anglian Regiment
On Monday 200 soldiers from the Royal Anglian Regiment marched around Kettering to celebrate their Freedom of the Borough.
Crowds gathered from near and far to support and show gratitude to the troops on their homecoming.
A military band on the Market Place entertained the flagging-waving crowds before and during the Homecoming March.
Click here to watch video highlights of the day!
Councillor Duncan Bain, the Mayor of Kettering said:
So many people came up to me after the event and said how much they enjoyed the march in Kettering. It was obvious from how many people lined the route and came to the Market Place that the Borough's residents have enormous pride in our armed forces. From the ear-splitting cheering and waving of thousands of flags I think our soldiers now realise that local people are extremely grateful to them for the difficult job they do.
Private Pinder from the Royal Anglian Regiment support team said:
“Today we’re acting as a community outreach team and we have been engaging with the public and it’s been a really positive day in Kettering.”
Army Privates from the Royal Anglian Regiment said:
“There were loads of people; a lot more than we expected. The turnout was great and Kettering showed their support really well.”
Major Bill O'Driscoll of the Royal Anglian Regiment said:
“On behalf of the Second Battalion I’d like to thank the Mayor, the councillors and the people of the Kettering Borough for their outstanding, enthusiastic support at the Homecoming March yesterday. Thousands of people supported the troops and the market place was the ideal location. We couldn’t have wished for a better turnout or for better weather. I’d like to thank the people from the civic office and everyone who help to plan the Homecoming March, it was a fantastic day.”
Sue Lyons Kettering Borough Council’s Head of Democratic and Legal Services said:
“The Homecoming March was a huge success. We are very pleased with the number of people that showed up to support the troops. The day will be remembered for years to come and I hope that people will take memories away from it.”
Kettering Museum will be hosting a community corner of photographs and quotes from the event during the month of August, as well as displaying the winning entries in the Mayor's Poster Competition to welcome home our local soldiers.
