Harcourt and Maldon - Food & Wine Fossicking
The wine we make is something we're emotionally attached to, says Ian McKenzie, who owns Blackjack Wines with his good mate Ken Pollock. The pair combines traditional techniques with Mother Nature's whims at their vineyard in the beautiful Harcourt Valley. The area is equally famous for its apple orchards. Simon Frost, of The Little Red Apple, speaks of the pure taste of the valley, captured in his cider, sparkling apple juice and vinegar.
In nearby historic Maldon Cherry's Ice Creamery is kept busy by the sweet tooths year-round. Ice cream maker Ian French uses local produce where possible; he says a fair chunk of the region's boysenberry crop ends up in his ice cream -- it's one of around 60 flavours he's perfected.

BENDIGO VICTORIA AUSTRALIA AA
Bendigo (36°45′S 144°16′E) is a regional city in central Victoria, located in the City of Greater Bendigo. It has an urban population of about 86,000 people which places it as the fourth largest urban centre in Victoria after Melbourne, Geelong and Ballarat. The municipality covers an area of 3000 square kilometre. Bendigo grew as a result of gold mining in the mid to late 19th century. Bendigo actually produced much more gold than rival town Ballarat but there were fewer small miners. The mines were deeper and the culture was more corporate than Ballarat.

This is how it's done at one of the Canary Islands's last operating salt flats. Located on the island of Lanzarote, Salinas de Janubio was constructed in 1895 to produce salt for consumption and to meet demands of the region's once robust fishing industry, which utilized the high quality, natural salts for fish preservation.
Today, artisanal salt production on the Canary Islands is in decline, but workers at Janubio continue to use traditional methods to extract salt from the sea, and hope to maintain the salt flats for future generations.

Do Mega Sharks Still Exist?
Best-selling author Sam Kean stops by Reactions this week to debunk the myth of the Megalodon, the 50-foot super shark that, despite what Shark Week may lead you to believe, is long-extinct.
Kean's book, The Disappearing Spoon: And Other True Tales of Madness, Love and the History of the World from the Periodic Table of the Elements, is getting the Reactions treatment in a video series produced for the newly launched American Association of Chemistry Teachers (AACT). In this episode, Kean unravels the myth of a living Megalodon, explaining how the element manganese holds the key.

Ron is a pet red fox I bought from a licensed exotic animal breeder, in Oklahoma, captive-bred and hand-raised. My state of Arkansas allows pet foxes without any permit needed.
He enjoys a large outdoor habitat and also a small indoor caged spot in my living room. Foxes are said to make 'bad' pets, but I would rather say foxes make wonderful pets!... just rather destructive, moody pets, NOT FOR CHILDREN.
Every potential fox owner/companion MUST have an outdoor pen built fox-proof; here's some examples---
Now the best resource...
It is Sybil's Message Board. The link is for the Foxes forum...hundreds of posts for you to read up on!
