Filmed in about 1932 by my grandfather Howard Baylis, stored in my fathers attic for the last 70 years until it's showing on utube today. My grandfather died in 1965, he was a pig and poultry farmer and also a keen movie maker. He also worked for the government showing news reel movies during the second world war in village halls etc.The family at the start, shopping, at the garage and at the church etc are from my Grandmothers family whose surname name was King, let me know if you are a descendant. Then the film goes on to the Horticultural show.

Marston's Pub Franchise Opportunity
Video Produced by The Online TV Group
Over the next few minutes we will be introducing you to one of the most exciting, rewarding and enjoyable franchises in Britain, where, for a small initial investment, you can take the reigns of an established, profitable pub and start building a business that you can be proud of.
A business where people will come to enjoy themselves, where you can utilise your management, sales and business skills and where you can create a secure future for you and your family.
Welcome to the Marston's Pub Franchise -- The franchise with more behind the bar.
Marston's have a rich heritage dating back to 1834 and a well-established reputation for quality and success. We own 5 regional breweries, brewing some of the most popular and well-loved beers in the country today, and we operate over 2,150 pubs stretching the length and breadth of the UK. With over 130 years of successful pub retailing we became the first pub company to gain full membership of the British Franchise Association.
This is because our franchise model is a robust and ethical offer, which allows our franchisees to understand exactly where they stand with us. We pride ourselves on our fair and transparent business approach and aim to take away many of the headaches associated with running a business, allowing you to focus your efforts on the important things; like building your reputation in the local community, driving sales and most importantly, delivering a fantastic experience to your customers, time and time again.
We firmly believe that local pubs are a great British institution and an integral part of community life; and we want to keep it that way. That's why all of our franchise opportunities are located in the heart of thriving communities, each with its own individuality and character. This unique proposition means that not only do our franchisees have the opportunity to run a successful, profitable business with us, they also have the chance to build a fun and fulfilling lifestyle in which strong customer relationships, involvement in local events, socialising, entertainment and a fantastic atmosphere all play a key role!
For an initial, low cost investment you can take the reins of an established pub business with a minimum of 5 years trading history, enabling you to hit the ground running with a sound understanding of past successes and the growth opportunities available to you. You'll immediately start receiving an agreed percentage split on both turnover and profit, and after a period of time you'll also have the option to renew your term or resell the franchise should you wish.
We'll provide you with all of the tools and training you need to be successful. This includes a fully equipped inventory package, industry-leading training, an EPOS system and comprehensive marketing support... plus a whole lot more.
Furthermore, you do not need to have any experience in pub management! Sales and marketing skills, team management, creativity, a strong work ethic and a desire to succeed is all that is required for you to become a highly successful Marston's Franchisee. And we don't expect you to take our word for it, let's meet some of our existing franchisees...
As you have heard, Marston's provide the highest level of support for every franchisee. From a robust induction programme, including practical sessions and placements at our training headquarters, through to on-going mentoring and award-winning training for you and your staff... we'll ensure that not only do you hit the ground running, but that you remain as competitive and successful as you can possibly be throughout your entire term of your agreement with us!
Regular business meetings with an experienced Area Operations Manager will provide you with advice, ideas and guidance, enabling you to exceed the expectations of your customers and to tailor your approach to attract new custom. We'll also provide you with comprehensive marketing support ranging from menu updates and promotional materials through to mystery shoppers and operating standards, alongside helping you build an online presence utilising your own website and the latest social media tools.
If you think a Marston's Pub Franchise could be right for you then visit our website marstonsfranchise.co.uk for further information and details of our upcoming Discovery Days. These events provide you with a unique, no obligation insight into what running a Marston's Pub Franchise entails, allowing you to informally meet with our team and learn more about the services and support we provide, our extensive induction and training programme, and the skills you would need to become a part of one of the UK's most exciting and rewarding franchise businesses.
Marstons VideoNews Spring 2014
Hello and welcome to the first edition of the Marston's Pub Franchise News Program, set to keep you up to date with the latest news and events from within the Marston's franchise network.
Firstly, a big congratulations and welcome to our newest franchisees.
Caroline Weatherston joined us at the Poverina in Normanby in September having previously worked for us as a Pub Manager. At only 30 years of age she is one of Marston's youngest franchisees and feels that the experience she gained through working as a Pub Manager played a key role in equipping her with the skills and knowledge required to become a franchisee. Running the Poverina is just the start for Caroline as her ambition is to have five pubs within the next ten years.
David and Sally Miller took over the White Harte in Kinver at the end of November following an extensive £100,000 refurbishment. David, a trained chef, and Sally bring a wealth of experience to the franchise network having successfully run their own business for the past 20 years, specialising in the provision of social work and social care training services. Sally's daughter Rebecca will also be utilising her talents to head up the kitchen team.
if they join us as a franchisee the bonus is yours! At present, we have the Crown in Albrighton, The Rose and Crown in Chellaston and the Catchems in Swadlincote available, alongside opportunities within the South, North East and Midlands that are due to arise shortly. For further details please speak with your Area Operations Manager.
Congratulations to Andrew Edwards who has recently opened his second franchise site in Wales. Andrew became a franchisee at the Monkstone in Cardiff in April 2013 and six months later he has now opened the doors to the Barn in Llantrisant following a stunning £100,000 refurbishment. He is now Marston's third franchisee to have two sites up and running, with ambitious plans to add another three sites to his portfolio within the next four years.
Aaron Stewart and his team at the Fairway in Sheffield were busy in the run up to Christmas supporting a local charity event called Home Alone which provides lunch, entertainment and a host of festive treats for homeless and lonely people across Sheffield. The team raised around £1,000 for the day and much to our delight, organiser Gloria Stewart appeared on the ITV show Surprise Surprise in December, being serenaded by Olly Murs and given a £4,000 cheque toward the event! Aaron and his team have already started fund-raising for the occasion again this year and are aiming to raise £5,000 this time around.
We've gotten 2014 off to a flying start with the introduction of two new, limited edition menus. First is the tantalizing 'Saints & Sinners', available from 7th January to 28th February which includes an assorted combination of both low calorie and indulgent dishes. Second is our Valentine's menu which runs from 10th to 16th February. Customers can choose from either a 2 or 3 course set menu comprising a range of romantic cuisine including 'Love Me Tender' rump steak and 'Eternal Flame' curry, whilst 'Love Heart' cocktails and milkshakes are the order of the day on drinks.
Last but not least, congratulations to all of our franchisees for an excellent performance over Christmas. We're pleased to announce that sales in all of our sites were up on last year during the period from Christmas Eve to Boxing Day with some pubs in particular performing exceptionally well. In third place was Carline Weatherston at the Poverina with a take of £10,325. In second place, Dean and Paul at the Crow's Nest, taking £14,535 and in first place, with an exceptional take of £16,317 is Aaron and his team at the Fairway. A huge well done to all involved!
That's all from us for now. Keep an eye out for the next edition in Spring where we'll once again be giving you the lowdown on all of the latest activity from within our franchise network.
Thanks for watching.

Windsor, England on a Rainy Day @ The Royal Oak - Meantime London Lager, W&E Knight of the Garter
MEANTIME LONDON LAGER
4.5% ABV
Meantime Brew Master, Alastair Hook, has spent 20 years planning the quintessential English lager. His reasoning is simple. The great European lager brewers use very soft water and neutral yeasts to ensure that only the flavours of their locally grown malt and hops come to the fore. East Anglia is home to the world’s finest malting barley and Kent is home to some of the world’s best hops. Midway between the two, London is ideally placed to bring them together in a straightforward, clean, long-matured, unpasteurised lager, where all you can taste is malt and hop.
FOOD PAIRING
The hops in Meantime London Lager enable it to stand up much better than most lagers to stronger flavours such as mature cheeses, hams and smoked meats, or oily fish.
WINDSOR & ETON BREWERY KNIGHT OF THE GARTER GOLDEN ALE
3.8% ABV
Originally launched in June to coincide with the annual Ceremony of the Garter held at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle. This beer quickly proved so popular that it is now a favourite throughout the year.
A flaxen-coloured, easy drinking Golden Ale, brewed with American Amarillo whole leaf hops giving a distinctive fresh citrus aroma reminiscent of cut grapefruit.
The badge design features the emblem used at the ceremony to honour the Knights awarded this exclusive accolade. Our very own Knightclub is a little easier to gain membership of but no less sought after and a lot more fun (see Knightclub tab).

[A Brief Introduction on how not to leave people to freeze to death on the same streets that we throw up on] Pt1
This was originally intended to be 'The Making of - The Great Everything & The Nothing', the soon-to-be-released Oomun Group film, but during the editing process, our crew, The Camden Mothership, were hurtled into a media storm as we became part of what has been called 'the most controversial eviction in squatting history'. All views expressed are those solely of The Oomun Group, and by no means represent the opinions of The Camden Mothership. Camden Council has recently issued a statement regarding this high profile case, in which they stated 'At least 92-93% of the Camden Mothership crew have been certified as being 'sexy, suitable-for-mating and desirable' by hornybailiffs.co.uk'.

“Huge opportunities” in the pub sector says Greene King’s Blythman
Mark Blythman, Strategy and IR director at Greene King (LON:GNK), says that while the pub industry is “still fragmented,” there are “huge opportunities” for the business in the current climate.
The pub chain has been focusing on long term security since the financial crisis in 2007, buying, building and developing pubs that meet its criteria.
Blythman says “the death nails that were signed in 2007 and since then were premature,” adding that “the British pub still has a warm place in people’s hearts in this country.”
