Opening of The Merchant of Venice Boutique in Verona
The Venetian brand of artistic perfumery, The Merchant of Venice, is delighted to open a new point of sale in the centre of Verona, in Corso Sant'Anastasia 10, near the celebrated square, Piazza dei Signori. This one-brand boutique is the fourth point of sale to open, following that of the beautiful Flagship Store in Campo San Fantin, the ancient Spezieria all'Ercole d'Oro (both in Venice), and the precious Concept Store in Murano.
Adjacent to an elegant arched window draped in green ivy, the visitor enters through a beautiful doorway and is immediately introduced to the world of The Merchant of Venice. This new store embodies the art of Venetian perfumery, which is instantly recognisable through the use of typical colours and decorations: the Italian hickory wood, the gilded finishes, the inlaid frames on the walls, along with the wall paper that reproduces the patterns of the fabrics of Palazzo Mocenigo in Venice that houses the Perfume Museum - The Merchant of Venice is its official product.
The table at the centre of the room displays the main lines of the brand, exhibited on personalised trays.
On the walls there are black lacquered shelves with gilded finishes, which display the most exclusive collections. Each collection is framed by a picture and other elements that narrate the concept that inspired its creation. Each collection is also presented in a captivating and inviting way through unique olfactory decor such as, the precious Perfume Decanters ® made in Murano Glass.
Proceeding further into the shop, there is a salon, which hosts the most exclusive collection by The Merchant of Venice: the Murano Art Collection, a selection of unique bottles handmade by the master glass-blowers of Murano.
Consumers are able to immerse themselves in a unique experience: the Extrait de Parfum are exhibited on a round gilded table that invites clients to interact with the collection.
In the same room there are two olfactory tables. They reproduce the work benches of the ancient perfumers and mirror the one on display in the Perfume Museum. These elements allow guests to interact directly with the essences and, through the Museum Collection and the Perfumer Kit, also encourage them to create a personalised perfume.
This area of the shop has been specifically designed to enable the client to participate in an all-involving shopping experience.
The map of the “mude” trade routes, the rich wall paper, the soft carpet in the salon, and the olfactory benches narrate a story grounded in the perfumery culture, the luxury, and the traditions of Venice.
The interior design is reminiscent of Palazzo Mocenigo, which masterfully embodies the concept of cultural luxury. The brand desires to convey this concept through a contemporary interpretation of exhibiting technique developed by the architect, Paolo Lucchetta, an expert in Retail Design.

The Merchant of Venice is a brand purely related to Venice and its history: it emphasizes the ancestral role of the city in the worldwide perfumery tradition.
Created by Mavive, the brand includes different product lines inspired by the traditions of the ancient Republic of Venice, by its high quality craftsmanship, and by its centuries-old trade with the East.
The concept of The Merchant of Venice takes its inspiration from the first Perfume Museum in Italy, and is in turn its natural culmination. The Perfume Museum of Venice is a project strongly pursued by Mavive, and it was created in 2013 through an agreement between the historical Venetian perfumery company and the Fondazione Musei Civici of Venice.
The rooms of the sixteen century Palazzo Mocenigo are expertly designed and decorated by Pier Luigi Pizzi. The museum stimulates visitors through multimedia didactic contents, sensory experiences, and precious and rare objects, all of which illustrate the centuries-old relationship between the Venetian Republic and the history of perfume.
History and culture are at the base of the project, The Merchant of Venice, and are fascinatingly combined with a product of excellence.
Apertura Boutique The Merchant of Venice a Verona

The Merchant of Venice

The Merchant of Venice - Flagship Store San Fantin
The Flagship Boutique, The Merchant of Venice, is housed in a prestigious, ancient chemist shop located in San Fantin, at the heart of Venice and immediately adjacent to the world famous opera theatre, La Fenice.
Since the mid-17th century, the ground floor of a building in Campo San Fantin, in the very heart of Venice, housed an apothecary under the insignia of San Paolo. Much later, in 1846, it became the famous pharmacy designed by the architect, Giambattista Meduna, who created the refined appearance that has now been completely restored to its original splendour.
With respect to his later design of the pharmacy, the furnishings and decorations employ a flamboyant neo-Gothic style: the hickory panelling and the wood and terracotta decorations are reminiscent of certain architectural elements evident in the ancient Venetian palaces. Among the different elements, the four large statues by the sculptor, Pietro Zandomeneghi, are particularly impressive.
They are inserted into an elegant niche that is topped by an aedicule, and the entire setting is surrounded by twelve smaller, allegorical figures. The four larger statues represent respectively: Botany, Medicine, Surgery, and Physics.

Chillin' in a Rue Cler Wine Shop
One-stop shopping is not a priority on Paris’ delightful Rue Cler. My favorite neighborhood in Paris is essentially a traffic-free market street where locals enjoy the inconvenience of “many-stop shopping” when putting together their evening meals. It’s just a different way of living here in France. Pop with me into a Rue Cler wine shop for a peek at the scene and to meet “le wine chiller.”

Venice and Its Lagoon
Rick Steves' Europe Travel Guide | Venice, more than any other European city, has an endlessly seductive charm. For centuries, it was nicknamed La Serenissima, The Most Serenely Beautiful One— and for good reason. Along with sampling the sumptuous art treasures of Venice and exploring its back-street wonders, we'll cruise its lagoon, stopping in fiery Murano for glass, pastel Burano for lace, and murky Torcello for a sense of where Venice was born.

Florence: Heart of the Renaissance
Rick Steves' Europe Travel Guide | Fifteenth-century Florence was the home of the Renaissance and the birthplace of our modern world. In this first of two episodes, we'll gaze into the self-assured eyes of Michelangelo's David, enjoy Botticelli's Birth of Venus, delve into the 3-D wonders of Ghiberti's Gates of Paradise, appreciate Fra Angelico's serene beauty, and climb the dome that kicked off the Renaissance. Then we'll cross the Arno to where Florentine artisans live, work, and eat...very well.

There's Something For Everyone in Venice
For 30 years, I’ve been fascinated by all the goofy gimmicks sold by immigrants on the streets of Europe. The flaming Manneken-Pis cigarette lighters, the “How many more minutes of George W. Bush’s presidency are left?” digital countdown clocks, the fluorescent launchers, the click-clack crickets, the selfie sticks. One year it’s tripods and the next its 4-inch cartoon figures that magically dance against a wall. It seems they all have a season and the next year there’s something different. You could fill a museum with them. Lately, a favorite is the blob. These guys are peddling this stuff illegally and are generally camera-shy, but I found a young man in Venice willing to demonstrate his goods on camera. Can you imagine buying this mysterious glob of chemical goo for your child? Yummy!
What are some of other bits of silliness sold on the streets of Europe over the years that you recall?

Italy The City of Florence Video by Eurobookings.com
The masterpiece of the Renaissance, Florence is a living tribute to the
creative era between the 13th and 16th centuries that produced some of the
world's greatest artists. A respect for art allows outdoor statues to remain
unharmed. High qualityhand made leather goods and jewellery items fill the
fabulous stores and narrow decorative streets attract strollers intent on the enjoyment of life.
