A key to handling merino is to have a good team of sheepdogs. My son Sam does the day-to-day running of the farm, and he has some really good dogs to help with the stockwork. We also muster by helicopter my son Ben may be able to do this in future, as he wants to qualify as a helicopter pilot. - Lesley Purvis

Icebreaker Born In Nature | Lindis Peaks Station
I've been managing Lindis Peaks Station for nearly five years. I grew up in Blenheim, but I always wanted to go farming, and I first started working in 1976. I've chosen to stick with the high country and with merinos. They have a personality all of their own. They like to be out on the hill all by themselves, but they are quite intelligent; when you muster them, they do what you want them to do, as long as you have reasonable dogs. -Tom Moore
