Warwick Castle Warwick England
Warwick Castle Warwick England. The opportunity to visit Warwick Castle presented itself while we were in England so we took it. Warwick Castle is located in the town of Warwick, along the banks of the River Avon. Warwick Castle was originally a wooden motte-and-bailey castle build by William the Conqueror in 1068. In the 12 century Warwick Castle was rebuilt in stone and due to the castle's strategic location in Warwick it became an important safeguard against rebellion in the Midlands.

Warwick Castle, Warwickshire, England
William the Conqueror established this castle in 1068, on a defensive site occupied by the Anglo Saxons, (defending from the Danes). It remained a key military installation for several centuries, but was eventually converted into a stylish country home.
Warwick castle is considered one of the Top 10 by the British Tourist Authority, and it includes a collection of armory second only to the Tower of London.
The castle has been a popular place for visitors since the 17th century, (despite a few interruptions). It was recently acquired by the Tussauds Group, (London -wax museum). They have made it a bit more tourist-friendly, with activities for children, exhibitions, etc.
They also fitted key room with their trademark wax figurines. We thought this would be artificial, but found it quite compelling. It was interesting to see, (and hear), historic personalities in this context.
The castle is surrounded by a small town with comfortable accommodations and friendly people.

Warwick Castle is a medieval castle developed from an original built by William the Conqueror in 1068. Warwick is the county town of Warwickshire, England, situated on a bend of the River Avon. The original wooden motte-and-bailey castle was rebuilt in stone in the 12th century.
During the Hundred Years War, the facade opposite the town was refortified, resulting in one of the most recognisable examples of 14th century military architecture. It was used as a stronghold until the early 17th century, when it was granted to Sir Fulke Greville by James I in 1604. Greville converted it to a country house and it was owned by the Greville family, who became Earls of Warwick in 1759, until 1978 when it was bought by the Tussauds Group.
In 2007, the Tussauds Group was purchased by The Blackstone Group which merged it with Merlin Entertainments
Warwick Castle is situated in the town of Warwick, on a sandstone bluff at a bend of the River Avon. The river, which runs below the castle on the east side, has eroded the rock the castle stands on, forming a cliff. The river and cliff form natural defences.
When construction began in 1068, four houses belonging to the Abbot of Coventry were demolished to provide room. The castle's position made it strategically important in safeguarding the Midlands against rebellion.
During the 12th century, King Henry I was suspicious of Roger de Beaumont, 2nd Earl of Warwick. To counter the earl's influence, Henry bestowed Geoffrey de Clinton with a position of power rivalling that of the earl. The lands he was given included Kenilworth – a castle of comparable size, cost, and importance, founded by Clinton – which is about 5 miles to the north.
Warwick Castle is about 1 mile from Warwick railway station and less than 2.0 miles from junction 15 of the M40 motorway; it is also close to Birmingham Airport.
Warwick Castle is nowadays a tourist attraction and holiday village. Featuring exhibits such as the Castle Dungeon and Horrible Histories Maze, the location is also regularly used for travelling exhibits and events.

Places to see in ( Warwick - UK )
Warwick is a town on the River Avon, in England’s West Midlands region. It’s known for the medieval Warwick Castle, founded by William the Conqueror. The Collegiate Church of St. Mary has a tower with city views and a Norman crypt. The timber-framed buildings of 14th-century Lord Leycester Hospital cluster by the city’s West Gate. The St. John’s House Museum is housed in a Jacobean mansion with gardens.
Warwick is the county town of Warwickshire, England. The town lies upon the River Avon, 11 miles (18 km) south of Coventry and just west of Leamington Spa and Whitnash with which it is conjoined.
There was human activity at Warwick as early as the Neolithic period, and constant habitation since the 6th century. It was a Saxon burh in the 9th century; Warwick Castle was established in 1068 as part of the Norman conquest of England. Warwick School claims to be the oldest boys' school in the country. The earldom of Warwick was created in 1088 and the earls controlled the town in the medieval period and built town walls, of which Eastgate and Westgate survive. The castle developed into a stone fortress and then a country house and is today a popular tourist attraction.
The Great Fire of Warwick in 1694 destroyed much of the medieval town and as a result most buildings post-date this period. Though Warwick did not become industrialised in the 19th century, it has experienced growth since 1801 when the population was 5,592. Racing Club Warwick F.C., founded in 1919, is based in the town. The town is administered by Warwick District Council and Warwickshire County Council has its headquarters in Warwick.
Suburbs of Warwick include Bridge End, Emscote, Forbes, Myton (connecting Warwick with Leamington Spa), Packmores, The Cape, The Percy, Warwick Gates, Woodloes Park and the newly established Chase Meadow.

13 England Warwick Castle
Warwick is in the county town of Warwickshire, England and lies on the River Avon. Warwick Castle was established on the site in 1069 as part of the Norman conquest of England. The castle was developed by William the Conqueror from an original build. The castle evolved into a stone fortress. We marveled at the opulent Great Hall and State Rooms and enjoyed visiting the former private apartments. We walked up the 500 steps to see Caesar's Tower, the Barbican Battlements and to enjoy the expansive view from the towers. A posted sign advises one not go up the steps if they are not in good health as the steps are narrow, winding and steep. We figured we could do it and It was well worth the effort! The views, as you can see from the pictures, are amazing! From the top we could see the Sierra Redwood Trees, Peacock Garden, the Conservatory, Warwickshire Museum, St. Mary's Church the Towers, the River Avon and golden rapeseed fields among beautiful rolling hills.
The music we used for this video is Carroll Park by John Deeley and the 41 Players.

The Mill And Engine Pump House At Warwick Castle April 2016
The Mill House. At a cost of over £2 million, the Mill and Engine House project has returned the historic building and machines to their former glory. Recreating the electrical powerplant of the Castle’s Victorian age was a challenge. For example, only one firm in the country possessed the necessary expertise and equipment to produce the hand-rolled, wrought iron blades required for the restoration of the waterwheel. These restorations would not have been possible without the expertise and passion of the professionals involved, but most importantly the revenue generated from visitor admissions to conserve this unique example of Victorian innovation.
