Feast - gastronomic festival in Moscow
From 23 September to 9 October in Moscow is a large-scale gastronomic festival - Golden Autumn, organized with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture. The festival consists of three thematic stages - Meat Week, cheese day and Fish Week. Now in the midst of fish a week - this is a real gastronomic paradise for fish lovers - here and Yakut omul and white amur, and the Black Sea mussels, and sea cucumbers, and red salmon with chinook - just not listed! And, of course, the traditional free master classes, culinary schools, concerts, guided tours and more. Detailed information can be explored on the festival website .
And at the weekend it held a great gastronomic program cheese days, where he was completely disproved the myth that Russia is not able to make good cheese. More than 60 producers from 20 regions of Russia have brought 100 first-class Russian varieties of cheese.
For three days it sold 60 tons of cheese, which is 20% higher than all expectations! Here you can find Roquefort, Camembert, Gorgonzola, mozzarella - all of excellent quality.
All cheeses can be to try and choose the most favorite.
Well, the biggest gourmets proposed master recipes for dishes of cheese under the guidance of professional chefs in Moscow.
By the way, all this week will be held cooking classes for creating fish dishes. So, if you love fish and want to learn how to cook her delicious, come to one of the Festival culinary schools.
For example, a great and comfortable school is on Kuznetsky Most Street. Every day, from 15:00 to 19:00, master classes, where you not only learn to cook new delicious, but also feed for free! To get to the workshop, to come to the site for 15-20 minutes before the start and register. Workshops take place every hour.
Perhaps the most cozy street of this festival - Stoleshnikov Lane. There settled yarnbombinga master ( yarn bombing), which in real-time along with everyone insulated trees, lights, benches cozy woolen cloths.
The result is here such charming little cityscapes, the brightness of the colors that are not dependent on the vagaries of the weather. Here, every day there are jazz concerts, which you can listen, wrapped in a warm blanket, and operates an antique fair with grandmother lace and antique samovars.
But in the transition between the Revolution Square and Manezh Square, you can find a variety of hits, perhaps, the most cheerful vegetables of the Russian autumn - pumpkins.
Be sure to come to the festival Golden Autumn, until the end there are not a lot of time - the festival finishes its work on October 9th. Total of 49 sites operating in Moscow, the map can be found on the website

Fish week | Рыбная неделя | Интерактивный маршрут
For the first All-Russian festival “Fish Week” we prepared 5 entertaining interactive installations and launched the iLike system (integration into the social networks) on a city scale.
Fish race
2 participants of the interactive competition see on the screen fishes ready to start. In order for the fish to swim and come to the finish line first, you need to portray swimming breaststroke.
Moscow - the port of the five seas
Special 360 ° * Oculus Rift binoculars will show and tell guests how the famous seafaring routes cross in Moscow.
Fish patrol
A huge flock of fish on the screen reacts to the approach of a person, gathering in a school of fish, and keenly watching his movement.
3D fishing
3D glasses, a real boat and a fishing rod will immerse participants in the world of traditional Russian fishing.
iLike
6 electronic registration points were placed at the festival sites, and real Like buttons were installed for 25 sites, thanks to which guests could instantly send publications about the festival to their pages on social networks and receive memorable photos by email.

MOSCOW: CHRISTMAS IN RUSSIA
Russian/Nat
For most countries the Christmas celebrations were over nearly two weeks ago.
But in Russia, they're only just beginning them.
It is Christmas Eve in the country where the holiest holiday is still determined by the ancient Julian calendar.
Christmas may be over for most of the world, but in Russia it's only just beginning.
The Russian Orthodox church still uses the Julian calendar, so Christmas has come later for them.
On Thursday churches held Christmas Eve masses across the nation.
Hundreds of people queued to get into the newly-built Christ Our Saviour Church where the Patriarch of the Russian Orthodox Church presided over mass.
The crowds were so large that police were called in to keep the queues into the church orderly.
But although the religious aspect of Christmas is making a comeback in post-Soviet Russia, for most people the day is just one big holiday.
And if the bitter cold is usually a problem in many parts of Russia, at least at this time of year, they can spend a bit of time enjoying it.
Children's festivals were held throughout the capital with the usual Santa Claus, sledding, dancing and amusement park rides.
SOUNDBITE (Russian):
Its going to take some time to teach the next generation, just as any young group would develop and learn in Europe, but all the same it is a big sign, a big success that even on a government level the people are now encouraged to celebrate one of the churches biggest holidays.
SUPERCAPTION: Santa Claus
Across town there was the annual children's' dog sled race.
Thankfully there was plenty of snow for it - although temperatures have been dropping recently, Muscovites woke up to see a carpet of white.
And unlike other people, Russians enjoyed a well-earned break on the 7th of January.

Russian woman plays chess in ice hole
Nina Pushkareva from the Russian city of Chelyabinsk takes traditional winter swimming to a different level, playing chess in freezing water defying biting temperatures, as footage from Saturday shows.
Every week she spends about 20 minutes in the ice hole playing chess with other winter swimmers. According to Pushkareva, she has to change partners during the game very often, because not all of them can play for a long time in the icy water.
The 68-year-old daredevil said she had not been ill for 24 years, giving credit to the icy water for that and adding: ice hole is my vaccination.”

“We are Aryans and must kill all Niggers, Chinese, Jews and Wogs from the Caucasus,” commands Tasek, a member of the People’s National Party. This vicious kind of rhetoric is in line with the new ‘Russist’ ideology sweeping the nation. Many of Russia’s new political parties are openly racist, with one politician even condoning the murder of non-ethnic Russians. “The government has been playing with the xenophobic attitudes of the population for such a long time that the situation has simply got out of control,” says human rights worker Tatiana Lokshina. Migrants from the poorer southern republics now face an increasing number of violent attacks. Even migrants’ children are targeted to encourage their parents to leave the country.

Russian Road Trip: Cheese, Steel and Brutal Techno | Alfa Future People
In our first official road trip for Russia Beyond Tim Kirby drives a big GAZelle NEXT van from the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow all the way to the Alfa Future People electronic music festival just outside of Nizhny Novgorod. First Tim goes through the tiny town of Petushki to visit the Bogdarnya farm where English immigrant cheesemaker John Kopiski makes fromage wonders. Next they stop of at the most a-typical small Russian town there is Sudogda to get a feel for life outside of Russia’s big cities. Next Tim drives to Murom, which many could consider to be Russia’s Smallville. After chomping down on a local kalach, Tim drives over to Vyksa where they make train wheels and massive steel pipes at the Vyksa Metal Works. After a brief snooze at the Delovoi Klub hotel Tim is treated by Vyksa locals to their regional cake which is made at the Nyeobychainoye Cafe in downtown Vyksa. Next Tim drives all the way to Nizhny Novgorod and takes a break to enjoy the view from the hills where the Azimut Hotel is located.
