S. Korean theater productions staged in Shanghai
A South Korean comic martial arts show called Jump was staged at EP Space in Shanghai's Huangpu District Thursday night. It is one of five popular South Korean acts playing in the city this month. Jump tells the story of a traditional Korean family of six who are all skilled martial artists. Without saying a single word, the performers use everything from taekwondo, to Chinese Kungfu, and acrobatics to give the audience a hilarious effect.

North Korea's art troupe arrives in South Korea via ferry Tuesday
오늘 오후 예술단 본대 만경봉호로 묵호항 입항
More arrivals from up North for joint celebration of the upcoming winter games.
A cultural group crossed over to South Korea via ferry... to put up 2 highly-anticipated performances -- one in the sub host city of Gangneung and the other in Seoul.
Ji Myung-kil has our top story.
The North Korean ferry, with the red letters Mangyongbong 92,... arrived Tuesday in South Korea at Mukho port in the city of Donghae on the east coast.
South Korean officials gave a small welcoming ceremony to the North Korean art troupe after the ferry docked.
The Mangyongbong is a 97-hundred ton cargo-passenger ferry named after a hill in Pyongyang near the birthplace of North Korea's late founder Kim Il-sung.
Seoul has temporarily lifted its ban on North Korean ships entering its waters to allow the ship to come.
The Mangyongbong 92 itself is not one of the North Korean vessels blacklisted by the United Nations or the U.S. on suspicion of involvement in Pyongyang's nuclear weapons program.
The North Korean troupe will be using the ship as lodging during the concert period in Gangneung and is also a way for the North to keep the artists from having contact with South Koreans.
The North Korean artists will perform on Thursday in the city of Gangneung on the eve of the Winter Olympics.
Gangneung is hosting Olympic events including women's ice hockey in which the two Koreas will compete as a joint team... a first in Olympic history.
The troupe will perform again on Sunday at the National Theater of Korea in Seoul.
More North Koreans will be arriving in the South Wednesday morning via the western land route.
The 2-hundred-eighty member delegation consists of four officials from the North's national Olympic committee, 229 cheerleaders, 26 taekwondo demonstrators and 21 journalists.

North Korea's art troupe to arrive in South Korea via ferry Tuesday
오늘 오후 예술단 본대 만경봉호로 묵호항 입항
A North Korean group of artists has left North Korea this morning on board a ferry and has now entered South Korean waters.
They will be performing at highly-anticipated cultural events during the Pyeongchang Winter Games -- one in the sub host city of Gangneung and the other in Seoul.
Here's our Ji Myung-kil with the latest.
The North Korean art troupe comprising 140 orchestra musicians, dancers and singers will arrive in South Korea Tuesday afternoon on board a ferry called the Mangyongbong.
The ship will arrive in South Korea at Mukho port in the city of Donghae on the east coast.
The North Koreans are coming to South Korea onboard the ferry Mangyongbong 92. They will be using it not only as a means of transportation but also as accommodation during the concert period in Gangneung.
Using the ship as lodging for them... is also a way for the North to keep the artists from having contact with South Koreans.
Seoul has temporarily lifted its ban on all North Korean ships entering its waters to allow the ship to come.
The Mangyongbong 92 itself is not one of the North Korean vessels blacklisted by the United Nations or the U.S. on suspicion of involvement in Pyongyang's nuclear weapons program.
The ferry is being escorted by a South Korean ship near the maritime border in the East Sea and will sail to Mukho port under convoy.

Pansori class 3 at National Theatre of Korea
Ong Heya song
Performance at a theater in Seoul, South Korea
I was asked to go on stage at Nanta show in a theather in Seoul, South Korea. The show was a mixture of music, acrobatics, magic and comedy... I guess my (short and completely improvised) performance would classify as comedy ;D... there were two teams producing a pile of food... and ours won!! ;D The movie is so short because filming was not allowed and very soon we were asked to shut down the camera.
Pansori: South Korea’s Authentic Musical Storytelling
They say that the finest work of pansori can make your heart stop beating. Pansori is a traditional South Korean form of storytelling, operatic in style, that relies on the authenticity, intensity and power of the singer’s voice to express stories of love, death, tradition, honor. A perfect performance does not strive for purity or perfection of voice; rather it embraces all sides of the human experience. One of pansori’s virtuosos is Ahn Sook Sun, a living legend in Korea’s cultural history. For Ahn, the only way of mastering the ancient art is for each singer to build her own authentic sound.

360-Degree Theater Lets You Experience VR Without A Headset
This theater takes VR to a whole new level. Space 360 is a spherical projection theater. It creates a small universe around viewers. This eliminates the need for VR headsets. The theater is located next to Lucerium National Science Museum in Gwangju, South Korea. Here's what you can see.
The 12-meter wide sphere can hold 45 people at a time. Visitors walk down a glass observation bridge. There are 12 projectors in the sphere that create the images. Each session is 15 minutes long. The content covers important milestones in history. Like the Big Bang. The origins of life. Human civilization. Followed by changes due to global warming.
The exhibit opened to the public in September 2017. Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power donated the sphere theater to Space 360. Space 360's goal is to give visitors an immersive VR experience using the newest technology possible. It also sets an example for digital 360 theaters of the future.
Anyone over the age of 8 can visit Space 360. It costs 3,000 Korean Won or 2.82 American dollars to enter. The theater is a permanent installation and can be visited year-round.

N. Korean inspection team in Seoul
현송월 2일째 일정 서울 시설 점검+이번주 남북 점검단 왕래
A team from North Korea, visiting the South, are in their final day of inspecting the venues for some performances by North Korean artists coming up alongside the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang.
The North Koreans this afternoon are visiting the concert venues in Seoul and will head back to the North later in the evening.
Our Ji Myung-kil is at Seoul's unification ministry with the latest.
Myung-kil, what can you tell us about the North Koreans' activities so far?
Devin.
North Korea's 7-member inspection team led by singer Hyon Song-wol has looked around three venues in Seoul.
Currently, they're at Seoul's Walker Hill hotel where they will have dinner.
Earlier, after having lunch at a hotel... they first checked out the Seoul Student Gymnasium, located in the eastern part of the capital, which can host over 5-thousand people.
Then she went to the Jangchung Arena... located in central Seoul and looked around the facility for ten minutes before making her way to the National Theater of Korea where she has spent an hour.
Hyon's team will likely take a tour of one or more venues before heading back to North Korea.
The team arrived in Seoul before lunch time from Gangneung... one of the Winter Olympic host cities.
There they visited two venues for possible concerts.
Hyon Song-wol... is a confidante of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and is not only the singer of a popular North Korean band, she also leads the Samjiyon Orchestra which will be performing in South Korea during the Olympics.
A 140-member art troupe, including the orchestra, plus singers and dancers will give one concert each in Seoul and Gangneung.
Also, the two Koreas will have more inspection teams going back and forth starting tomorrow.
Devin.
