Mayan Ruins tour with Native Tours in Costa Maya
Chacchoben Mayan Ruins Tour! | Costa Maya, Mexico! | MSC Seaside 2019! Ep 18
Good morning from BEAUTIFUL Costa Maya!! Today we are docked with the Norwegian Getaway & Carnival Miracle!!
We head downstairs to the casino to get some change of our $20 bills only to realize that we're in port and the casino is closed while the ship is in port! We instead head over to Guest Services and grab some change that way.
We're greeted with a very long walk down pier to an AMAZING port area! It was like a maze in there with a ton of shops and restaurants!
We walked down to meet our tour guide for the Chacchoben Mayan Ruins Tour! We had a nice little bus ride over to the ruins and passed many local shops and towns.
After getting to the ruins, we got a personal tour all around Chocchoben and learned a lot of great information!
Tune in next time for our lunch on the beach, port exploring, and sailaway!!

COSTA MAYA: Chacchoben Mayan Ruins Tour l CRUISE VLOG l Ep. 25
Continuing on with our Norwegian Cruise Line Shore Excursion: Chacchoben Mayan Ruins. Here's the tour description from NCL:
You’ll journey to the ancient place of Mayan pilgrimage known today as Chacchoben, also known as The Place of Red Corn. At the pier, you’ll be greeted by a bilingual guide who will direct you to an air-conditioned bus. Onboard the bus your guide will brief you on the interesting history and unique attributes of this sacred Mayan site. Upon arrival at Chacchoben you’ll be surrounded by jungle. Your guide will escort you through the ruins, giving you a complete explanation of the sacred temples and other structures seen there.
See original red paint on the stucco walls of one of the pyramids and the temple where a mural was found showing the astronomical positions of the planet Venus. You’ll have time to climb the Gran Basamento taking you above tree level. Here archaeologists found ceremonial offerings dating to around 1000 B.C. Your guide will also explain about the wildlife and medicinal plants that are used by the modern-day descendants of the ancient Mayan people.
As always, make sure to watch in HD for the best video quality! Hope you enjoy! :)

Things to Do in Costa Maya While on a Cruise
If you’re lucky enough for Costa Maya to be one of the stops on your next cruise trip, you won’t want to miss the opportunity to get off the boat and experience the magic of Costa Maya Village. Sure, the fact that this port is surrounded by the vast natural beauty of the Mexican Caribbean and the Mayan jungle is a clear draw. But, what makes Costa Maya truly unique is that it is a themed cruise port, offering a wide range of unforgettable opportunities for adventure, culture and relaxation just steps away from the dock.
Check out these fun and exciting things to do in Costa Maya while on a cruise.
Explore the Port
Experience a warm welcome from the locals and enjoy the hospitality and excellent service of the establishments at the port. You can eat delicious Mexican food at the restaurants, buy local products and souvenirs in the stores, or hang out at the beach with a cocktail in hand. You can have a great time in Costa Maya without even stepping foot outside of the port.
Go on an Expedition
If you crave adventure and exciting things to do in Costa Maya near the cruise port, take a guided tour of the beach and the surrounding Mayan jungle while riding an ATV. You can also take a tour of the Chacchoben Mayan Ruins and learn more about ancient Mayan culture. Standing in the shadow of the stone pyramids and temples, you’ll be able to fully appreciate the grandeur of this ancient landmark.
Try a Unique Cultural Experience (or Five)
One of the best ways to experience Mexican culture is to eat, drink, and share experiences with the locals. Enjoy an exclusive tasting of the best tequilas of Mexico or the history of one of the world’s most popular flavors — chocolate — at Kakaw. Go snorkeling, experience exotic birds native to the Caribbean at the aviary, or pamper your body and nurture your spirit by partaking in a Mayan healing ritual.
Visit Costa Maya Adventure Park
To top off your cruise experience, treat your family to a fun day at Maya, Lost Mayan Kingdom Adventure Park. It boasts thrilling water slides, ziplines, and the 400-meter Zip Coaster (the ultimate zip line experience) that goes over land and water. If at some point you need to relax and recharge, there are resting areas throughout the park that you can use to do just that.
Costa Maya: A Gem in the Mexican Caribbean
If you find yourself wondering what to do in Costa Maya Port, it won’t be because of a lack of choices. The biggest problem visitors to Costa Maya Mahahual have is deciding what to do first! A breathtaking horizon, a lush jungle, and a port transformed to give you a winning vacation—these are all reasons why one of the best things to do in Costa Maya on a cruise is to get off the ship and into the port.

Chacchoben Mayan ruins tour in Costa Maya, Mexico
Took a cruise with Holland America Lines and booked a excursion thru Ship Mate with a great company called The Native Choice Costa Maya Tours had a great tour guide Jose Manuel!!!

Taxi Mafia in Costa Maya
Anti-touristTaxi drivers surround the Native Choice tour bus and demand payment from tour company - leaving tourists stranded on the bus. Smaller rescue vans met the same fate. This went on for an hour until the police arrived.
Cozumel & Costa Maya Cruise 2017
Video from a cruise I went on in February 2017 to Costa Maya and Cozumel with Royal Caribbean.
Our tour guide for Chacchoben was named Joel and he was awesome, we booked through Native Choice and I'd highly recommend. Make sure you get a cab to the beach in Mahahual thats a bit further than the port area, it is much more chill than the touristy area where the ships pull up. Also dont miss the east side of the island of Cozumel, its much more enjoyable than the port side of the island.
LAGUNA BACALAR. Lake of Seven Colors in Mexico.
We spend a day in one of the most beautiful places we’ve ever seen, Laguna Bacalar in Quintana Roo, Mexico! Bacalar is located in the south of Mexico, close to Belize. Bacalar is relatively small and we spend the day biking around the town. We visit a hotel on the Lake called Hotel Aluxes to have lunch and spend some time on their beautiful lake front. We fly our DJI Spark over the Lake of Seven Colors to check out the view from above. We then return to town via our bikes to have some coffee and beer and then do a short tour of our hotel, Toto Blue.

Laguna de Bacalar is also known as the “Lake of Seven Colors” or “Lagoon of Seven Colors,” and for good reason.
The crystal clear waters and white sandy bottom of the lake cause the water color to morph into varying shades of turquoise, blue, and deep indigo throughout the day and in different depths.
This 60-kilometer lagoon (which is often called a lake, but is actually a series of waterways eventually leading to the ocean) once offered passage for pirates and traders seeking their treasure in the form of precious Campeche wood.
These days, the lagoon is more likely to see sunbathers and kayakers. It contains several sizable cenotes — excellent swimming holes — as well as stromatolites, the world’s oldest known fossils. Still, despite its location only four hours south of Cancun, tourists remain sparse.
The Fort of San Felipe was built in 1733 under the order of don Antonio de Figueroa y Silva, field marshal of Yucatan, to protect the Bacalar population from the frequent attacks by pirates from the Caribbean and to defend the region from harassment from the traders in Campeche wood. In the second half of the 19th century, during the so-called War of the Castes, the fortress once again became the scene of skirmishes for the possession of the fortress. It has recently been restored and sits looking over Lake Bacalar in the center of town.
Bacalar is simply a heavenly town that will make you fall in love with its small fishermen’s houses, and which is home to a beautiful turquoise lake and the Uchben Kah Ecotourism Park, where you can swim, snorkel, scuba dive and go out on a boat.
Come to live a unique experience in one of Mexico's Pueblos mágicos; visit Bacalar.

Maya Lost Mayan Kingdom
SUBSCRIBE:
Maya Lost Mayan Kingdom is a waterpark offering exciting, fun and refreshing activities. There’s something for everyone - waterslides, ziplines, a zip coaster, swimming pool, natural pool, Mayan jungle, a teen-park and more.
Perhaps you'll want to slide straight down on the Kamikaze slide or spin into the hydro-whip slide, you have nine water slides to choose from. Try the inner-tube slide or hop on a mat and speed down the 60 foot slide. Do all nine or one, it’s up to you!
Take flight on one or both zipline courses. You can zip over 3,000 feet for a birds-eye view of the park, surrounding jungle and the Caribbean Sea. Work your way through the rope course and across the suspension bridge. Top it off with the thrill of a lifetime - the Kukulcan Zip Coaster, an 800 foot flight with twists and turns.
Ready for a swim or just want to relax? Head over to the swimming pool or the natural Cenote pool. Grab an inner-tube and take the River Expedition, a lazy river that flows through the Mayan jungle. Let the kids discover the Teen Park, which offers smaller slides.
You’ll be welcomed at the pier for your short bus ride to the park. The park features changing rooms, showers, restrooms and lockers for an additional fee. You can purchase snacks and refreshments at the snack bar and even shop for souvenirs.
Note: Most rides and activities have a minimum height requirement of 48 inches tall. Children 5 years of age and younger are admitted in the park but due to height requirement will not be able to participate in all of the park’s activities. The ziplines have a maximum weight restriction of 260 lbs.
Guests should consider their physical fitness level and medical history when determining whether this tour is appropriate. Guests with cardiac conditions, asthma, diabetes, epilepsy, other heart or respiratory conditions, neck or back injuries should take particular caution when selecting this tour.

What to do on Your Cruise Shore Excursion in Costa Maya Mexico - CruiseCompete.com
Hi, Melissa at CruiseCompete.com here where travel agents compete to find you the best value in cruising with some shore excursion help:
What to do in Costa Maya, Mexico.
Sometimes the way to spend time in port is the simplest: just head to the beach. In Costa Maya, we recommend a visit to Yaya Beach at Mahual.
CruiseCompete's keys to Yaya Beach at Mahual are:
1. It's very easy to get to on your own from the ship;
2. It's inexpensive, and;
3. It's a great place to relax.
Getting there is easy. You don't need reservations or to arrange transportation in advance. Just walk straight out of the cruise port, hail a cab, and tell them you want to go Yaya. It's just a 5-minute, $2-per-person cab ride away.
Small hotels, restaurants, bars and trinket stands are separated from the beach by a road-sized walkway. Mahahual is sheltered by a breakwater 100 yards offshore, leaving shallow sandbars near the beach--great for small kids. Hour massages are available on the beach for as little as $20--perhaps the best bargain you'll find anywhere.
A number of different proprietors can guide you to lounge chairs and hammocks near the water. Drinks are cheap. Vendors walk by frequently, offering hats, jewelry, and wind chimes. You may even see the occasional strolling Mariachi in full costume, offering to play for tips.
If you have kids, make sure you ask a vendor to make you an ID bracelet. Watching these experts weave a name out of just a piece of plastic and spools of nylon thread is pretty impressive.
A fun option for lunch is eating out on the sand bar. Plastic tables and chairs sit right out in the water. Keep your feet in the sea as vendors bring you fresh guacamole and some outstanding fish tacos.
Snorkel equipment is also available for rent and fly boarding--where the people surf fifteen feet above the ocean's surface on jets of water--is also an option.
But perhaps the best choice is simply to relax and enjoy the day.

This is a must have experience, go to Dzibanche and get Francisco as a guide!!! There were only 8 of us and you can climb all the ruins. The setting is in the jungle and it is much cooler than Tulum. There are Howler monkeys in the jungle around the site and their calls enhance the visit, This is a 2 hour ride each way from Costa Maya but you get to see a lot of the southern Yucatan peninsula and the people in this region. The vans are comfortable and air conditioned. The guides provide water, restroom breaks, and snack breaks.
It is a fantastic journey and is cheaper through Native Choice than through the cruise ships. The groups are smaller and the guides are excellent! April 19, 2011

Chacchoben Mayan Ruins in Costa Maya
Just took an excursion to Chacchoben, which means red corn, off of the Disney Fantasy and thought is was cool to walk in the foot steps of the Mayans and to see structures from 700 AD. The surounding forrest has animals like jaguars, spider monkeys, howlers and armadillos. The people who live in the town are all of Mayan decent and embrace that. A definite must see.

Welcome to Costa Maya
We're in Costa Maya and there's lots to see. We start off with shopping and checking out a Fish Spa, but that's just not for us. We then haggle with a painter over some cool art followed by watching the amazing Dance of the Flyers. After failing repeatedly to ring a huge bell, we stop off at the beach and then head back to the Carnival Victory. Great day!
Wait till the very end to see our towel buddy. I've been saving those for the very end :)
