Police search for men after carjacking taxi in Bondi Junction
Eastern suburbs police are searching for a group of men who took part in an alleged drunken carjacking late last night.
At around 11.30pm, a taxi driver picked up four men from a pub on Bronte Rd, Bondi Junction.
A short time later the driver was forced to stop due to passenger behaviour. The driver exited the vehicle and told the passengers to do the same, however one of the men had other ideas on how he would get home.
Police allege that one of the men decided to jump into the driver seat and took off, leaving the taxi driver and his other three mates behind.
The offender's alleged drunken carjacking incident did not last very long. Around a minute later, the stolen taxi was seen reversing into another pub in Nelson Street, Bondi Junction.
The thief fled on foot and police rushed to the scene to establish a perimeter for the search. The Police Dog Squad arrived and commenced the search, however the male could not be located.
The taxi sustained rear end damage and the 1930's pub survived with only minor damage. The taxi was seized for forensic examination.
Police are continuing their enquiries to locate all four men. They have been described as Caucasian appearance with Irish accents.
CCTV vision of the men is being examined by police. Anyone who witnessed the incident and hasn't already spoken with investigating officers is asked to contact Waverley Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Millers Point Sydney Australia - Exploring Millers Point 2019 (HD)
Millers Point Sydney, we explore historical Millers Point Sydney. Millers Point is located next door to The Rocks area of Sydney and is one of the first areas of European settlement in Australia.
Millers Point is joined by The Argyle Cut to The Rocks and is a unique historical area of Sydney. Situated right in the middle of the city, but totally seperate from it. Millers Point streets and laneways are lined with beautiful Victorian and Georgian style terrace houses from the 1800's with stunning views of Sydney Harbour.
We take a look at heritage listed hotels/pubs in the area, Harbourview Hotel, Hero of Waterloo Hotel, Lord Nelson Hotel, Palisade Hotel and Captain Cook Hotel.
Millers Point neighbours with Dawes Point, Walsh Bay and Barangaroo. We look across to the Walsh Bay Wharves Precinct, once a cargo ship storage area, now an entertainment and art precinct with high end apartments. We see where the old world meets the new world as Millers Point over looks new developments at Barangaroo and crosses over to the new Barangaroo Reserve.
Millers Point is an historical area filled with heritage houses, hotels, pubs, buildings, streets and laneways which will stand through time as a seperate area preserved for its history and uniqueness amidst a modern city surrounded by towering sky scrappers and the most beautiful harbour in the world, Sydney Harbour.
