Choppers x 6 at Crown Lakes and double Duffs at Whittlesey, 19th August 2013
The kids are away with Grandparents, I had the car, and there were reportedly 6 class 20's booked for 6M10 Peterborough to West Ruislip. So a couple of hours spent at Crown Lakes, Farcet, just South of Peterborough, to see 20142,20189,20901,20107,20314 &20311 all on the one train! A visual and aural treat! Some lovley passenger variety too including classes 91,43,365,321 and 180. I then nipped across to Hearts Drove, Whittlesey to see 47818 & 47841 on 0Z47 Norwich Crown Point to Crewe Gresty Bridge. A new location for filming for me, and I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. Just on the edge of the countryside, some classic traction, semaphores, a canal lock and narrow boats - lovely! Good to meet Nigel Gibbs at Crown Lakes too.

How one Cambridgeshire town is coming together to combat loneliness | 5 News
► Subscribe to 5 News:
► Last year, the Cambridgeshire town of St Ives lost two of its residents to suicide.
Determined that their deaths would not be in vain, the tragedy prompted locals to take action.
A year on, and thanks to a range of initiatives to combat loneliness, it is now officially a Calm Town after being recognised by the male suicide charity 'Campaign Against Living Miserably'.

100% RELIABLE LEAFLET DELIVERY
Leaflet Distribution (tm) has local leafleters in Farcet PE7.
We specialise in leaflet and flyer distribution in Farcet
and are a very experienced business in this sector, having been
operating since 2004. We also run a cleaning company franchise called
Nationwide Cleaners and one of our own leaflets goes out with each drop,
so we have a vested interest in ensuring it is done properly. Our
Nationwide Cleaners leaflets also enable us to monitor how many calls we
receive from potential cleaning clients and potential cleaners. Very few
other leaflet distribution companies have this advantage. In addition,
to maximise the response rate we only deliver a maximum of 3 leaflets
through each letterbox. We want the highest possible number of calls for
you (and us!) Most competitors just stack 5 or 6 leaflets together and
all of them end up grabbed in 1 hand en route to the bin! They simply do
not have a vested interest in the outcome of the flyer drop.
Beware of leaflet distribution firms whose only method of tracking is
GPS, as I have heard stories of leafleters walking the streets, but not
actually delivering anything or putting 4 leaflets through each
letterbox! With us, that is not possible, as we would immediately notice
the absence of cleaning calls. Our staff know this, so rogue leafleters
would avoid working for us and instead apply for jobs with our competitors!
We are extremely careful who we hire. We operate a profiling system
based on experience to eliminate unsuitable and unreliable potential
staff, but I cannot disclose details on here due to possibly being
accused of discrimination! As a franchise, we have extensive experience
due to honing and refining our business systems.
leafletsdelivered.co.uk has more information or you can phone Nigel or Loraine
on 07742 955826 . If there is an answerphone, please leave a message with
your phone number and he will ring you back asap the same day.
You can email us at nigel@leafletsdelivered.co.uk, but if you have many
questions, speaking on the phone is much faster than email.
GUARANTEE. Since we have been in existence since 2004 and only use
meticulously chosen leafleters, we can guarantee your distribution in
Farcet will be carried out properly. All our leafleters are
experienced and have done many drops for us previously, so there is no
risk for you.
So, if you manage a business and would like more clients, do not
hesitate to contact us to clarify any questions and to get started.

70000 'Britannia' on a loco movement whistles and storms Crown Lakes 16.5.12
You see here, Standard Class 7MT Britannia No.70000 'Britannia' storms giving us a whistle through Crown Lakes, South of Peterborough on its way from Tyne Yard-Southall 5Z70. It is the first time 70000 has past Peterborough for many years so i wanted to see this. It was the third time i've seen her but first in BR Brunswick Green with early BR crest. She was light engine with her support coach (Crimson/Cream). I saw her with Adam (60163Adam) and also saw Jules (Jules46443) just missing her!
Enjoy!

The success of the Hidden Tracks Audio Tour led to Peterborough's Natural Networks team asking Watch This Space to create an audio tour around the Crown Lakes Country Park in Peterborough. This ex-brick pit area has been regenerated, leaving little trace of the industrial heritage that has shaped this park along with so much of the city. The audio tour invites the audience into the world of brick making and to celebrate the rich history of those involved in this industry. The audio tour also offers an insight into the unique ecosystems of the ex-brick pits that allow endangered species such as the great crested newt and the stonewort to thrive. Once again, the audio tour is available for anyone to participate in simply by downloading the audio tracks and map from the project website.

ECML Peterborough area April 2017 including Tornado, Flying Scotsman and more!
After a quiet February and March, April was a bumper month. This months clips feature my usual Werrington Junction location, plus Marholm, Mayors Walk bridge overlooking Peterborough L.I.P. and Crown Lakes between Peterborough and Yaxley. Some notable firsts and lasts this month. The first time I have ever seen a class 37 hauling an HST set. First time I have filmed GN's new class 387's. Several loco cops, including 67007,68003, 37611 'Pegasus' in new Europhoenix livery & 37403 'Isle of Mull'. Several heritage diesel loco convoys. Flying Scotsman twice, including hauling the first leg of the Great Britain Ten round Britain railtour. Tornado crossing Hotpoint bridge on the Fletton Branch (not ECML I know, but linked to it!). This months video finishes with the very last class 317 passenger turns for Great Northern. As it was Easter, I had the company of my youngest, Harmony, for a lot of these clips, and its mainly thanks to her that there are lots of tones! Thanks to the drivers for responding with tones and waves to her frantic waving. Thanks also to Harmony for doing the videoing of Tornado on the Fletton Branch.

The Christmas White Rose was seen with 60009 at a crossing just outside of Manea, just West of March, departing Claypole Loop (on an unscheduled stop), Sutton on Trent and Barnby Moor with some servicing shots at York NRM. And with 46100 at Grantham.
Thanks to Will Stevenson (TheRailwayLad) for driving us around on Saturday 16th and company at York as well as Jack Pallister (JPSteamMedia) for providing updates on Wednesday 20th.
Police chase video: Thief smashes car through rail crossing
British police have released dramatic footage of a high-speed car chase in which a car thief tried to evade officers by crashing a stolen Mercedes C180 through a rail crossing barrier. The June 2010 incident began when 20-year-old Terence Fowler refused to pull over for police and tried to get away at over 90 miles (145 kilometres) an hour. During the pursuit, Fowler overtook vehicles in the face of oncoming traffic and, at one point, knocked off another car's wing mirror. Police gave up their chase when Fowler smashed through the rail crossing barrier moments before the arrival of a high-speed train.
Police found the car abandoned and arrested Fowler after finding his blood on the broken windscreen. Fowler admitted dangerous driving at Peterborough Crown Court and was jailed for 3.5 years on Thursday.

MONARCH Official Official Trailer - King Henry VIII
MONARCH is available now from Amazon
From double BAFTA nominated writer Director John Walsh, Monarch is part fact, part fiction and unfolds around one night when the injured ruler arrives at a manor house closed for the season. Henry is without the power and control of his palace and is vulnerable from those around him, and from his own sanity. Henry left England financially and morally bankrupt; his collection of enemies his only constant. Even today there is a question mark surrounding his burial and possible exhumation. TP McKenna plays Henry; after starring alongside Richard Burton's Henry VIII in the epic Anne of a Thousand Days, Charge of the Light Brigade, Straw Dogs; and with Jean Marsh (Upstairs Downstairs, Willow and Fatherland) playing an amalgamation of his ex-wives. Monarch unfolds on one night in the year of Henry's death, 1547.
The film has been painstaking remastered from the original 35mm colour camera negative which was recently discovered in a film vault after nearly 20 years and is now presented in full High Definition for the first time.
King Henry VIII reigned for 38 years. Young and handsome, his Court was the most colourful and extravagant in Europe. Yet this glamorous exterior partly disguised his unpredictable and savagely ruthless nature. His obsession to father a legitimate male heir led him through six marriages, to make himself Supreme Head of the English Church and to cut down those who stood in his way.
