-- About this video --
Today we are heading to the Oxbow Adventure Co in Wanaka (soon moving to Queenstown) to experience some serious adventure activities in Wanaka. We are going to be going in a jet sprint boat which can go 0 to 100km/h in under 2.5 seconds. Plus, we’ll be going in a custom-built 4x4 truck that can do just about anything! Oh yeah, there’s clay bird shooting and knife throwing too... So much to do here in Wanaka! Let’s get some adrenaline in Wanaka!
We arrive at Oxbow Adventure Co in Wanaka where we see the man shed full of insane vehicles like a jet sprint boat, 4x4 off roading machines like nothing we have seen, a helicopter and several crates of beer. It’s a real “man shed”. We’ve decided to tackle one of the adventure vehicles each, Laura is first in a 4x4 off roading vehicles called The Beast.
After an insane drive of gullies, creeks, boulders and more, it’s now Robin’s turn to experience the custom-made jet sprint boat – the only one of its kind used for commercial purposes. Robin experience’s some serious G force on this thing as it slaloms around a jetsprint track in the fastest jet boat in New Zealand. We’ve done jet boating in New Zealand before but not like this!
To end our experience with Oxbow Wanaka, (soon to be moving to Queenstown so it will be Oxbow Queenstown), we do some clay bird shooting in Wanaka as well as some knife throwing.
So what do you think of Oxbow in Wanaka / Oxbow Adventure Co Queenstown? Is it something you would add to your New Zealand bucket list?

New Zealand Travel Video 2018 | Queenstown Extreme Jet Boat Tour (Adventure Tourism) SB58
I had an amazing adventure in Queenstown, New Zealand on the world's most exciting jet boat ride!► SUBSCRIBE:
Alright so I've got a free afternoon around Queenstown before I go up to Te Anau tonight in preparation for my Doubtful Sound overnight cruise tomorrow. So I was just chilling on the edge of the lake and saw these guys just shooting around in these jet boats, which look pretty fun. Here you go: KJet Jet Boats. So I thought alright I'll quickly book myself on and see what all the fuss is about. Two Rivers - Twice the Excitement. Well, do you know what, I first of all need to understand what one level of excitement is, so I can then accurately judge if I've 2-Xed my level of excitement? Let's see. Let's jump on and get ready to rock and roll. Oh, safety briefing.
Just make sure we stay seated and keep hold of the handrail.
Pretty peaceful cruise on the lake if I'm honest. Woooooo! It makes it like we're gonna smash into the islands when he does that. Pretty good.
There we go, nice little jet session on the lake. Got drenched a couple of times. So was it 10 out of 10? Was it twice the thrills? Um...maybe not, it was alright. At times it was a little bit like a casual cruise on the lake if I'm honest. But it was good though; I got wet. Enjoyed it, I liked the speed, I'll tell you the bits that really me up, was when he was literally going head-on towards like a...a tree or something in the middle of the water. Or the edges of the riverbank, and then just swerving out of the way last minute. And it was proper...that was proper, proper got me going a little bit. But yeah, it was interesting.

The Big Nige Canyon - Deep Canyon, Wanaka, Canyoning New Zealand
This mission is an upstream 'add on' to our Niger Stream Trip... steeper and deeper!
With spectacular views out to the alpine scenery, it is particularly beautiful and hugely enjoyable. It features exciting abseils in strong water flows. The situations are dramatic and the abseils often take you into and behind spectacular waterfalls -- visually sensational and very dynamic.
Big Nige is a longer day -- be prepared for around four hours of continuous descent (and the walk up the hill takes 40 minutes). As we descend we link into Niger Stream with its many jumps and slides -- so you get in a lot of everything...

Group sizes are small and personal (max of four in a group). This trip is for people who want a bigger day of hands-on action and enormous amounts of fun....

New Zealand: South Island | May 2018
3 - 9 May 2018
We went on a roadtrip from Christchurch to Queenstown! Our first stop in Christchurch was 185 White Chairs and traveled our way to Mount Cook National Park for our first night and did the Hooker Valley Track as far as we can the next day and then off we went to Lake Tekapo and Church of the Good Shepherd. Our next stop was Wanaka. We lounged the entire night away and had a full day the very next day. Before we left Wanaka, some of us went skydiving and just had to visit the Lone Tree at Lake Wanaka. We passed by Bradrona at Cardrona just before our final destination in Queenstown. We were able to drop by Arrowtown as well but it was raining that entire afternoon so we just had to leave and settle in for our Milford Sound experience the next day. Since we're tourists, we made it a priority to be able to look around Queenstown's city center in which we had time for the famous Fergburger. On our last day, we had a helicopter ride up to Cecil Peak and a short drive to Thulrby Domain for my sister-in-law's engagement shoot. The trip was exciting day-to-day because we've got great company.

-- About this video --
For today’s activity in Wanaka we are heading to Beerworks Wanaka which is a microbrewery. One of around 160 microbreweries in New Zealand! Craft beer is a passion shared by many in New Zealand so we are stoked to learn more on this brewery tour in New Zealand.
We borrow our hostel’s car in Wanaka and head toward the Wanaka Airport where Wanaka Beerworks is based. Here, we meet our passionate guide who gives us a tour of the working brewery. We learn the entire process of a small scale brewery that serves the bars and restaurants of Wanaka, Queenstown and Arrowtown, from the ingredients to the brewing to the whole 1 month process! So much to make New Zealand craft beer!
After our microbrewery tour or craft brewery tour in New Zealand, we then get onto the beer tasting trays with six different craft beers to try that have been made right here are Beerworks. We are joined by a friend that we met on the road so it turns into an afternoon of good drinks and good company.
So what do you think of this brewery tour in Wanaka. Would you add Beerworks Wanaka on your things to do in Wanaka list? Let us know in the comments!

Journey with Jenney - Extreme Adventures New Zealand
This video is a recap of my 2009 Spring Break That's What a Sheep Is For Trip to the South Island of New Zealand with Extreme Adventures, a travel company from Australia.
Checking out their website ( they may only cater to college students but I just wanted to share about my amazing spring break trip to New Zealand when I was studying abroad at UNSW in Australia.
Yes, it was expensive--it was $1845 AUD, which is roughly $1350 USD but as a solo traveler, it was worth it for me to get a chance to explore New Zealand in a way I could never had by myself, plus I had the bonus of meeting 49 other amazing students (mostly American) but some international, and met some amazing people who I still keep in touch with today.
The tour was called So That's What A Sheep Is For! and it included 9 days and 10 nights in the South Island of New Zealand. When I added up everything that was included, honestly, it still is a good deal considering how expensive many of these activities are!
It included all accommodations, in hostels and lodges, all the transportation, a tour guide, over half the meals. The trip started off with a glacier hike up Fox Glacier, which went through a rain forest first and then up the glacier. Then we stopped by beautiful lake Wanaka, and in general, there were a lot of stops for beautiful photos. If you can't tell already, New Zealand has amazing scenery.
Then, we went to Queenstown, arguably the adventure capital of the world, where we stayed for 4 days. Every day, it was seriously extreme adventure, with jetting through the Shotover River Gorges in the Shotover Jet, missing rock walls by centimeters traveling at around 100km/hour; jumping into a helicopter to the top of the canyon and then white-water rafting out of the canyon! That was so fun! We also jumped off the Nevis Bungy jump over the Nevis River, a 134m drop; took a gondola to the top of Queenstown and rode the luges down the track. We went river boarding where I thought I was literally going to die when people tried grabbing onto me to save themselves. And then every night, we went out drinking and partying until 4AM in the morning, and repeated this crazy adventure.
Following that, we took a boat cruise along the magnificent Milford Sound, surrounded by mountains and waterfalls. Then a visit to Te Anau for their glow worm caves. And finally, to end it all, a visit to a genuine sheep farm, where we enjoyed learning about sheep shearing and sheep dogs, and enjoyed a delicious home cooked meal of the best lamb I'd ever had.
So whether you find a tour, or you decide to piecemeal a trip on your own, I highly recommend visiting New Zealand and especially the South Island! It's a country that has a very fond place in my heart.
Cheers,
Jenney
