Hypervelocity
Ooh la la!! A working French farm appeared in Huddersfield overnight. La vengeance des semis was be tended to by 26 farmers 24-hours a day, and kicked off Hypervelocity – a free summer festival taking place across Kirklees. The farm featured live sheep, chickens, pigs and a cow - as well as 1500 sunflowers.
More surprises came too - such as the colourful sky when all 330m of Emley Moor mast was illuminated.
Street theatre acts also popped up around Huddersfield Town Centre on Saturday 5 July, whilst St Peter’s Gardens was turned into a virtual gallery.
There was also a food and drink festival and big screen in St George’s Square.
There were playful surprises such as a life-sized willow family of cyclists and spectators - and also the unveiling in St George’s Square of a charming idea to bring a French rural idyll to a very Yorkshire town square.
As the light faded, one could follow the route of the Grand Depart through an outdoor gallery that includes giant paintings and illuminated landmarks, or one could stroll up to Holme Moss summit to see a hundred handmade flags by artist Wendy Meadley framing the sunset. And when the Tour arrived, so did the crème de la crème of international street performers and dancers, playfully echoing the drama of the race. The event also featured the excellent hypervelocity willow cyclists work of Carole Beavis.
Expect the unexpected.

M62 Chaos
Today there was a major incident on the M62 Motorway near to Junction 24 at Ainley Top Huddersfield. Traffic was really bad and it took me hours to get home. On the video you can see traffic coming off the motorway down the wrong carriageway in an effort to clear traffic from the east bound carriageway. You can also see the standstill traffic on the bridge.
Austerity Impossibility | The Days Burn Blue by Lucy Luscombe + Darkstar | Short Film | Random Acts
A surreal transition from the expectation of childhood to the exhilaration of emerging adulthood to the quiet realisation that fulfilling your dreams in modern Britain is perhaps an impossibility.
I was interested in what a coming-of-age might feel like to a kid in a town outside of London during the 'Age of Austerity'
The talent, promise and character I encountered amongst the youth in Huddersfield was overwhelming. Really bright kids with big dreams and little infrastructure to realise them. It makes you the wonder what genius is slipping through the net. - Director Lucy Luscombe

At Oxford and Cambridge, we’ll see where kings and prime ministers studied. At Blenheim Palace — Winston Churchill’s birthplace — we’ll connect with English aristocracy. At Ironbridge Gorge, we fire up memories of the Industrial Revolution. And all along the way, we’ll be driving on the left and polishing our pub etiquette.

Places to see in ( Manchester - UK ) Victoria Station
Places to see in ( Manchester - UK ) Victoria Station
Manchester Victoria station in Manchester, England is a combined mainline railway station and Metrolink tram stop in Manchester city centre. It lies to the north of the city centre on Hunts Bank, close to Manchester Cathedral and is adjoined to the Manchester Arena, which was constructed on part of the former station site in the 1990s. First opened in 1844, Victoria is Manchester's third busiest railway station after Piccadilly and Oxford Road, and the second busiest station managed by Northern after Oxford Road.
The station hosts local and regional services to destinations in Northern England, such as Rochdale, Bradford, Leeds, Newcastle, Huddersfield, Wigan, Southport, Blackpool and Liverpool using the original Liverpool to Manchester line. Most trains calling at Victoria are operated by Northern, except for TransPennine Express services from Liverpool to Newcastle and during engineering works, when some trains are diverted from Piccadilly.
Manchester Victoria is a major interchange for the Metrolink light rail system. Several former railway lines into the station have been converted to tram operation. The line to Bury was converted in the early 1990s in the first phase of Metrolink construction and the line through Oldham to Rochdale was converted during 2009–2014. Trams switch to on-street running when they emerge from Victoria Station and continue southwards through the city centre to Piccadilly or Deansgate-Castlefield.
In 2009, Victoria was voted the worst category B interchange station in the United Kingdom. The station underwent a two-year £44 million modernisation programme which was completed in August 2015. Renovation entailed electrification of lines through the station, renewed Metrolink stop with an additional platform, restoration of listed features, upgraded retail units, and a new roof. In the Northern Hub proposals, Victoria will become the rail hub for trans-Pennine services when the Ordsall Chord is completed in 2018, and passenger numbers are expected to rise to 12 million when the station serves more destinations.
( Manchester - UK ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting the city of Manchester . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Manchester - UK

68. Canal Boat Diaries. Life on a Narrowboat on the Huddersfield Narrow Canal.
In our latest canal boat diary... How's life on a Narrowboat on the Huddersfield Narrow Canal? Haha! A tight squeeze!
We leave Shepley Bridge and make a sharp left turn at Cooper Bridge onto the Huddersfield Broad Canal. After an overnight stopover at Aspley Marina, we start our ascent towards Standedge Tunnel at Marsden on the Huddersfield Narrow Canal.
Passing through some beautiful towns and villages such as Linthwaite and Slaithwaite we encounter empty pounds, closed locks and the weather goes from heatwave to monsoon.
Colin stops off at Sparth Reservoir to find out why the locals went to war with British Waterways and goes for a swim in the water.
