Ballina Salmon Festival 2017 features on The Irish At Home And Abroad TV Show
Highlights of the magnificent 2017 Ballina Salmon Festival were aired on Thursday 3rd August 2017 on Sky TV. The Irish at Home & Abroad, presented by Henry McGlade, aired on Sky 212 and FreeSat 161, and showcased the highlights of Heritage Day, Mardi Gras, the Fireworks Finale and a number of other festival highlights.
Supported by Mayo.ie, this special half hour show will give TV viewers a flavour of what was a hugely successful festival week for Ballina, with presenter Henry McGlade meeting and greeting locals and visitors throughout the week’s festivities.
Ballina Salmon Festival is one of the oldest and largest community festivals along the Wild Atlantic Way, and this year enjoyed bumper crowds due to a revitalised programme of events. National Heritage Day attracted record numbers of visitors to the town, the highlight being the show-stopping impromptu performance of “My Way” by Garda Alan McGinty on the town centre main stage, accompanied by the Garda Band, a performance that made national headlines.
The Irish At Home and Abroad is an hour-long, magazine-style programme showcasing businesses, culture and tourism in Ireland and the UK. The show is designed to bring together interests from across the Irish Sea, reach out to the Irish diaspora and to help forge partnerships and develop links within a wider community. Sky 212 Showcase enjoys a monthly reach of over 452,000 viewers in the UK, and the potential audience reach across all households amounts to millions.
