Space Exhibition - astronaut Tim Peake @ Novium museum Chichester, Sussex. Free entry.
Interactive space exhibition at the Novium museum in Chichester, Sussex. Tim Peake, An Extraordinary Journey celebrates Britain’s first UK born astronaut to fly in space. Entry is free.
Tim Peake is also a major in the British Army Air Corps. Tim was born in Chichester, West Sussex, he attended the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and served in the army with the Royal Green Jackets. He became a qualified helicopter pilot in 1994.
Peake beat over 9,000 other applicants to become an ESA astronaut and underwent extensive training. He was launched into space on the 15 December 2015. During his time in space he participated in the first spacewalk outside the International Space Station by a British astronaut on 15 January 2016. During his time on the space station he described his experience, “Life up here is absolutely spectacular..amazing view of Earth.. way beyond my expectation.”
On 18 June 2016, Peake returned to earth from the ISS aboard the descent module of the Soyuz spacecraft.
Tim Peake Gallery - An Extraordinary Journey
Launched in December 2016 an exciting new exhibition - Tim Peake; An Extraordinary Journey allows visitors to embark on a space journey that follows Tim's astronomical adventure - from growing up in Chichester to becoming the first British European Space Agency astronaut.
Visitors start their journey when they step into our 'rocket lift' and will be transported up to the 'outer space' level. You can find out about the Soyuz rocket, from its take off to landing - including watching the moment that Tim blasted off into space. You can discover what it's like to live in space, from eating, sleeping to even exercising in the International Space Station. You can then find out about Tim's space walk.
My film features all aspects of the exhibition. The exhibition includes a large screen projecting images of space, plus smaller monitors displaying different aspects of Tim’s extraordinary journey. I have used a number of pieces of stock footage which are not in the exhibition, for the purposes of quality, to enhance my film and convey the atmosphere of space and Tim’s journey.
This exhibition has now closed at the Novium musuem.

The Novium, Chichester by Keith Williams Architects
Part of the Concrete Elegance series produced by The Building Centre and The Concrete Centre.
Chichester's new Museum is an elegant new insertion into an historic city. The unique aspect of the Museum is centred around the substantial archaeological remains of the Roman Baths. The building spans these remains which have been incorporated in situ into the main entrance hall. The facade has been clad in pale precast concrete panels whilst the interior surfaces of the museum are made in fair faced concrete. Silver granite aggregates were used with silver grey granite fines, the surfaces of which were brushed to achieve a subtle sparkle.

Mud flood/subterranea investigative walkabout: Chichester, Tower street, museum and Roman excavation
NOVIUM Museum features an exhibition: excavation of Roman Bath, situated 6 feet below external street level while museum is surrounded with basements and underground car parks far lower than base level of excavation.
For Your perusal.
Link to article: Understanding water table and basements:
Highlighting myriad of difficulties dealing with 'perched water table' and 'natural water table': drainage of back filled cavaties, materials, soil types and compression and load bearing: refers relatively to new and old constructions: very interesting read for any astute mud flood researcher.
Videographic study around and about the buildings streets and houses of Chichester city centre and surrounding area to collate footage in support of a notion: Chichester city centre and surrounding area have been subject to a raise in ground level around and about the buildings streets and houses evidenced by subterranean rooms doors and Windows apertures submerged, protruding at varying heights to existing street level pavement. In many cases a motte is dug to expose doors and windows that were previously submerged in mud.
Chichester is an old historic city situated on flood plane very close to Sea and very low to water table.

Chichester
Chichester is a cathedral city in West Sussex, South-East England. It has a long history as a settlement; its Roman past and its subsequent importance in Anglo-Saxon times are only its beginnings. It has been argued that the area was a bridgehead for the Roman invasion of Britain. The city centre stands on the foundations of the Romano-British city of Noviomagus Reginorum, capital of the Civitas Reginorum, and near to the Roman Palace of Fishbourne. According to the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle it was captured towards the close of the fifth century, by Ælle and renamed after his son, Cissa. Chichester Cathedral, founded in the 11th century, is dedicated to the Holy Trinity, and contains a shrine to Saint Richard of Chichester. The Chichester Cross, a one-time site for the market, stands at the intersection of the four main roads in the centre of the city. Quite a lot of the city walls are in place, and may be walked along over what still remains.
Chichester celebrates its Roman Heritage
Roman heritage in Chichester is under the spotlight this week.
On Wednesday we reported that archaeologists found a well-preserved Roman bath under Priory Park. The find tied in nicely with the city's Roman week, which takes a closer look at the cities Romanic roots, through talks and activities.
Our reporter Nicole Ris talked to Cathy Hawkes from the Novium Museum to find out more.
