The Gold Coast Broadbeach Monorail
In this video we take a look at the Broachbeach Monorail that runs from The Oasis Shopping Centre to Jupiters Casino in the Gold Coast, Australia. The 1.3km line is a Von Roll MkIII monorail system with two trains. The line opened in 1989 and originally had plans to extend it further to the Gold Coast Convention Centre & Pacific Fair Shopping Centre, but these plans never came to fruition.
In this video we take a complete ride on the monorail recorded in January 2012, starting from the west stop at The Oasis shopping centre.
The monorail's future had been uncertain in recent years. It closed temporarily from October 2013 to December 2014 while a major overhaul was carried out. However in December 2016 it was revealed that the monorail would close permanently due to life-expired equipment and declining patronage. The monorail's closure will also allow for the redevelopment of The Oasis shopping centre & Jupiters Casino. On the 29th January 2017 (the date when this video was uploaded) the monorail operated for the final time.
With this monorail's closure, the only remaining monorail in Australia is the 2km line at Seaworld, also on the Gold Coast.

The Oasis Shopping Centre is located on the Broadbeach Mall in Broadbeach, Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia.
It was purchased by Brookfield Asset Management in 2012 from Thakral Holdings. In March 2015 it was purchased by Abacus Property Group and Kohlberg Kravis Roberts.
