Haunting History of The Boot Inn, Eastgate Row,Cheshire, England
Chester was founded as a castrum or Roman fort with the name Deva Victrix in the reign of the Emperor Vespasian in 79 AD
Chester Rows consist of covered walkways at the first floor behind which are entrances to shops and other premises. At street level is another set of shops and other premises, many of which are entered by going down a few steps. The Rows, found in each of the four main streets of the city of Chester, Cheshire, England, are unique
Situated in the old part of Chester the Old Boot is few hundred years old..The Boot Inn, Eastgate Row, was notorious once for its Madam. In fact, any visiting gentleman could acquire the service of a lady for the right price. At night, when everything is quiet, one can still hear clinking glasses and the sound of feminine laughter .It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II* listed building. The building consists of a shop occupying a former undercroft at street level, above which is a public house at the level of the Row and above.
Chester is a walled city , on the River Dee, close to the border with Wales.Rows were built in the four main streets leading from Chester Cross, each of which originated during the settlement's early development. In the Roman period the main street, now Watergate Street and Eastgate Street, lay on an east-west axis.Dating from the medieval era, the Rows may have been built on top of rubble remaining from the ruins of Roman buildings, but their origin is still subject to speculation.
Roman remains can still be found in the city, particularly in the basements of some of the buildings and in the lower parts of the northern section of the city walls
During the medieval period the Rows gave access to living accommodation. The doorway led into a hall, which was usually at right angles to the street. In some cases the front portion of the hall was used as a separate shop, and in other cases the whole hall was the shop. In the storey above the hall was the solar, a room providing private accommodation for the residents. In some cases, where the hall was larger, there were several shops on its frontage. Below the Rows, at street level, were crypts or undercrofts. Many of these were stone-lined with ribbed vaults, and they were used for storage or for selling more valuable goods. Behind the hall, on the level of the Rows, was more domestic accommodation. Normally the kitchen was a separate building in the yard behind the house. The back yard was also used for cesspits and for the disposal of rubbish.

------------------------
Don’t go by the looks of this blonde haired, blue eyed, svelte hot bod of the actor. Daniel Craig has the power to make his totty-side stand understated when compared to his ocean of artistic talent. Once rebuffed as the next sex symbol and the tough totty around the block, he worked hard to revamp his image instead of banking on the newly found star status and publicity. He switched to doing serious roles that gave him an opportunity to hone his skills. It was during these toiling hard days that Craig inevitably became the rising star of tomorrow. He gave hits after hits with super successful films like, ‘Love is the Devil’, ‘’Elizabeth’, ‘The Trench’, ‘Road to Perdition’ and so on. While these films got his career graph on the ascending track, it was filling for the shoes of the greatest film spy, James Bond 007 that turned fate around for him. He experienced reaching the zenith of success with the Bond films, ‘Casino Royale’, ‘Quantum of Solace’ and ‘Skyfall’. To know more about his life, career and works, read through the following lines.
--------------------------
Childhood & Early Life
Daniel Craig was born to Carol Olivia and Timothy John Wroughton Craig in Chester England. While his mother was an art teacher, his father owned the pubs, ‘Ring o’ Bells’ and ‘Boot’s Inn’. Initially, he was employed as a midshipman with the Merchant Navy.
Academically a mediocre, he completed his formal education from various schools including Holy Trinity Primary School, Hilbre High School and later Calday Grange Grammar School where he briefly joined as a sixth form student.
Alongside completing his formal education, he trained himself in acting going for classes at the Everyman theatre. At the age of sixteen, he moved to London to train himself at the National Youth Theatre
Later on, in 1991, he graduated from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama at Barbican. For three years, he received his training by Royal Shakespeare Company.
-----------------
Career
He started his career on a promising note making a debut with the coming-of-age drama, ‘The Power of One’ in 1992. The film had him portray the role of an Afrikaner soldier.
Subsequently, he starred in a number of films including, ‘Sharpe’s Eagle’, ‘A Kid in King Arthur’s Court’, ‘Kiss and Tell’ and so on. He made his television debut in 1993 with the series, ‘Zorro’, in which he starred in two episodes.
Following this, he played guest roles in a number of television series including, ‘Drop the Dead Donkey’, ‘The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles’, ‘Between the Lines’, ‘Heartbeat’ and ‘Screen Two’.
Despite launching himself well, his biggest breakthrough came in 1996 with the television series, ‘Our Friends in the North’. The hugely successful television series helped him gain a favourable image amongst the critics who lauded his acting abilities.
No sooner, his image of being a sex symbol was established. People largely admired him for his grand persona and killing looks and bod than his acting. With a keenness to turn the tables, he ventured in films and television series of varying genres.
Year 1998 became his most successful year career-wise, almost all of his films did well critically. The year kicked off with the release of the biopic, ‘Love is the Devil’. Though the film opened to mixed reviews, it earned him much critical acclaim for his artistic talent.
After the super successful stint at ‘Love is the Devil’, he starred in the next historical biopic ‘Elizabeth’, released in 1998. The movie was widely acclaimed for its superb rendition of the subject and perfect portrayal of the character of a monk.
He carried on his legacy of successful films with the release of the World War I saga, ‘The Trench’. The movie, a blockbuster hit, allowed him to showcase his talent as an actor. The other films he starred for the year include, ‘Some Voices’, ‘Hotel Splendide’ and ‘I Dreamed of Africa’.
His ascending career graph met with a jolting blow when his next film, ‘Lara Croft: Tomb Raider’, paired alongside Angelina Jolie, bombed badly at the box office. However, the blow did not last long as he bounced back in the super hit film, ‘Road to Perdition’. The film gave him a renewed stardom.

Places to see in ( Stanley - UK )
Stanley is a former colliery town and civil parish in County Durham, England. Centred on a hilltop between Chester-le-Street and Consett, the town lies south west of Gateshead. Stanley was formerly divided into three distinct settlements – the main town of West Stanley and the mining villages of East Stanley and South Stanley. Through a process of gradual expansion, these have become amalgamated into one town, with East and South Stanley no longer officially used as town names (although they are still recognised colloquially).
The civil parish of Stanley was created in 2007 and takes in not only Stanley, but the villages of Annfield Plain, Tanfield, Craghead, Catchgate, Tantobie, Tanfield Lea, South Moor, White-le-Head,Bloemfontein, Clough Dene, Greencroft, Harelaw, Kip Hill, The Middles, New Kyo, No Place, Oxhill, Quaking Houses, Shield Row, and West Kyo. The current Parish covers the vast majority of the former Stanley Urban District Council area, with the exception of Dipton and Burnopfield.
Stanley was first mentioned in 1211; however, some neolithic and Roman remains have been found in the area. The town's name is derived from the Old English for 'Stoney Field'. In John Speed's map of Co.Durham Stanley appears called Standley. The West Stanley Pit Disaster, one of the worst coal mining disasters in British history took place in Stanley at West Stanley Colliery on 16 February 1909 when over 160 people were killed in the Burns Pit disaster.
Over recent decades, Stanley has suffered hard times economically, with the closure of the coal pits followed by the loss of major employers at Ever Ready in nearby Tanfield, as well as the closure of both the British Steel plant and Shotley Bridge General Hospital in the neighbouring town of Consett. Local businesses in Stanley town centre were also significantly affected by the development of the giant MetroCentre shopping complex in nearby Gateshead, with local trade decreasing as a result.
The town now stretches into what were formerly neighbouring villages and towns such as Annfield Plain to the west and Beamish and Pelton to the east. This sometimes creates confusion over which local authority is responsible for certain areas, particularly around the Durham-Gateshead border to the northeast near the Causey Arch.
In recent decades, with the decline of traditional industries and the encroachment of large supermarkets and chain stores, 'Old Stanley' has declined, with many locally owned shops and pubs closing. The town's main shopping area, Front Street, is pedestrianised, housing independent shops alongside large chains such as Boots. A market is held on Front Street on Thursdays and Saturdays.
