Places to see in ( Motril - Spain )
Places to see in ( Motril - Spain )
Motril is a town and municipality on the Mediterranean coast in the province of Granada, Spain. It is the second largest town in the province, Motril is located near the Guadalfeo River and 69 km (43 mi) from Granada. The council of Motril includes the city of Motril and the neighbourhoods of El Varadero, Torrenueva, Carchuna, Calahonda, Puntalón, Playa Granada, Las Ventillas, La Perla, La Garnatilla and La Chucha. The town is the capital of the region of the Coast of Granada.
Motril is synonymous with sugar, sugar cane. The process from sugar cane transformation into various types of sugar, even liquors like the cherished rum of Motril, has always been the basis of our economy. Sugar refineries were for many years the future of the city. Now they are one of Motril's legacies. The sugar cane in Motril has always been, and should keep being a source of richness.
Sugar cane refineries in Motril are
Leaving Motril, towards Puntalón and La Garnatilla we find the sugar refinery of Nuestra Señora de las Angustias, dated 1868 and from which are restored some premises now intended for municipal usage, highlighting the magnificent Nave de los Arcos. Juan Ramón La Chica owned two refineries called Nuestra Señora de las Angustias, but one of them was in Granada and the other one in Motril. He gained full ownership over this last one in 1874. He also owned another sugar cane refinery called Nuestra Señora del Carmen in Pinos Puente (Granada).
Santuario de Nuestra Señora de la Cabeza is one of the most important and emblematic monuments in Motril. It is on a hill called Virgin’s Hill. The church was built on the ruins of a nazari fortress in the 17th century by the architect Isidro de la Chica. The building was damaged during the Civil War in the 20th century and it was restored by the sculptor Manuel Gonzales, a sculptor from Motril, in the 1960s. Inside the church is the patron saint of Motril, the Virgen de la Cabeza. Nowadays, the church is next to the Parque de los Pueblos de América and the first fountain built in Motril where there is a big Spanish flag.
Motril belongs to the Costa Tropical, a large region of the coast is very famous and touristic. Motril beaches can be small (bays) or large (like Playa Granada). The weather is usually good, so they are very popular during the summer by people from the surrounding as well as the interior regions. The main problems are the wind and the jellyfish. There are several beaches, but the most popular are the following:
Playa de Poniente
Playa Granada
Playa de Torrenueva
Playa de la Joya
Playa Carchuna
Playa Calahonda

When I explained my camera, the jumped arround, and the kids flew over the ramp. They loved it! So did we.

El Albaicín, the Moorish Quarter of Granada:
El Albaicín is the old, Moorish quarter of the city of Granada, located to the north of the Darro river. It is found on the hill facing the Alhambra, where the Zirid monarchs first established their court in the eleventh century, although little of this era remains today. Some say that the name means ‘quarter of the falconers’, but most historians prefer ‘quarter of the people of Baeza’. When the Moors were driven out of the city of Baeza by the Christians in the 13th century, they fled to Granada and settled on the northern part of the hill. Most of what we call Albaicín now was actually Alcazaba, the Moorish cidatel.
With its strong Muslim influence, narrow streets and quaint shops selling Morrocan and Middle-Eastern souvenirs and products, Albaicín is a beautiful place for a stroll on a sunny day or for dinner with views of the Alhambra at night.

Walking Tours in Nerja
Walking Tours in NerjaNerja is one of the few attractive towns that you can walk in and within its municipal territory and still have a lot to enjoy. You can even walk all the way to the hills and explore its vast open spaces. If you are new to this resort town, that might be one way you will get to really treasure its breathtaking scenery. And for that reason, you might want to check out some of these places that we found to be really attractive, unique and enjoyable to take walks in while in Nerja.A Walk to Fuente Del Esparto (El Pinarillo)Widely considered one of the best walking routes in Andaluca, you can access the route when you take the turn off to Cueva de Nerja (Nerja caves) from the N-340 coast road. Once at the car park entrance, take the lane to your left marked with a small pine tree. As you walk, the path begins to rise between low hills where you will find yourself in the Barranco de la Coladilla de losCazadores (Ravine of the hunter). Two kilometres into your walk you will come to a fork in the path. The right side leads to the Cortijo de La Civila (La CivilaFarmhouse) through de Cuesta de Romero (Romero Hill) while the left side will take you to the Esparto Fountain. As you continue through the Barranco de la Coladilla valley, you will encounter the beauty of pine trees, box woods and the amazing fragrance of rosemary and juniper bushes.Walk on for two more kilometres after the La Civila fork and you will encounter the recreational area known as the little pine (El Pinarillo). Here you have access to drinking water and barbeques. The path to your left will lead you the Fuente del Esparto. An alternative route can be found at the base of the Barranco de la Coladilla. Find the old Fabrica de San Joaquin (San Joaquin Factory) on the N-340 and follow the lane behind the factory. After a short wall, you will come across the Acueducto del Aguila (Eagles Aqueduct) which was used to carry water to the old factory. Turn right through atunnel that runs under the N-340 and left through a second tunnel. You will find a ramp 100m on your right which will lead you into the natural park. Keep on the path until you enter the ravine where you may be lucky enough to see wild deer and ablack squirrel. Continue walking until you come to a steep hill with the forked lane at the top. The left lane will lead you to El Pinarillo and further left to the Fuente del Esparto.A Walk to the Nerja DamAccessible from the mouth of river Chillar at El Playazo Beach or via Calle Picasso (a street above the Municipal Sports Center), getting to the Nerja Dam is a scenic walk with water that rises to your knees at some points if you should choose to wade into river Chillar.Stick to the lane that hugs the crops of the Rio Chillar river until you emerge at the confluence of the river Higueron. Look out for the dry quarry on the hill which separates the two waterways. Behind this landmark, the river bed narrows into two lanes: one to La TerceraFabrica (the Third Factory)

Spain Trip: Day 8 Ronda & Granada
Day 8. We are still in Arcos de la Frontera, and visiting the Puente Viejo during the morning this time around. After a short visit at the old bridge, we made our way to Ronda.
The reason for the shortness of this video, is that it was about a 3-hour drive. Include little pit stops, and reducing our speeds (we did get a speeding ticket), you blow the majority of the day.
Driving in Granada is pretty hard. If you are not a resident of Granada, there are many places that you are not allowed to drive. This made for a round about way to get to the area that had the tickets we needed for Alhambra.
After picking up the tickets, grabbing a late lunch and checking out the cathedral, we then made our way to our hostel. The hostel was conveniently located a 10 minute walk away from Alhambra, but this made it really hard to get to from the city below.
The night is finished with a quick trip over to a vista point of Alhambra, and then dinner at a Michelin recommended restaurant (La Milagrosa).
Filmed on: Sony RX-100m5 & GoPro HERO5 Black (Note the horrible audio is because of the GoPro... Don't know why...)

PROPERTY DESCRIPTION
Quaint, newly reformed, 88m2 furnished, one bedroom house with a storage shed suitable for bikes etc. The house is full of rustic charm and comprises: open plan kitchen/diner, steps up to a double bedroom with lovely mountain views from the window. Cave like lounge/bedroom 2 with arch to kitchen, bathroom. The property is approached by foot up steep cobbled steps but there is a parking area at the bottom of the steps.
Cutar is a small village perched on the side of a hill, as the crow flies directly below the much larger town of Comares, although to drive there takes about 20 minutes along a track from behind the church leading up into La Alqueria. It is above Benamargosa and El Borge which are its closest neighbours and a 20 minute drive to Velez-Malaga. It is part of the Route of the Raisin and the village is known as the Fountain of Paradise, Fuente del Paraiso from the arab word Kautzar, because of the twelve springs within the town. The village is surrounded by vine covered hills and as you drive the 6 kilometres up the winding road from Benamargosa it remains hidden in the folds of the mountains until you round the last bend at klm 5 where all you can see is Comares towering up into the sky, then suddenly the white oasis of Cutar appears, a mountainous Atlantis majestically rising from the depths below. A joy to behold, this jewel of a town sparkles in the sunlight as you drive down into the entrance to the village where the first sight that beholds you is the beautifully restored fountain, the Aina Alcaharia which used to be an Arab Chapel before converting to a water well and fountain, the only surviving Arab Fountain of its kind in Malaga province. There are steep steps behind it that lead up to the ancient bridge that crosses a little gorge. Cutar is proud of its Moorish roots and goes back in time to the fifteenth century to celebrate the Monfi Festival where you can experience the smells, tastes and music of that era. Each October during the second weekend, the narrow streets and main car park become a traditional souk where food, drink, clothes and other items can be purchased from sales people dressed in traditional arab costume. There are belly dancers, falconry displays and street entertainment, an arab tent selling mint tea and culinary delights. Homes are opened as museums showing many items of the past, traditional methods of weaving, paintings and pictures, old photographs of the village in bygone days. There is a Moorish arch known as the Algorfa with a house situated above it. At the top, western side of Cutar sits the 16th century Church of Nuestra Senora de la Encarnacion dominating the village with its beautiful Baroque side chapel. It was originally known as Our Lady of the Angels and was built over an Arab mosque. If you haven't yet visited Cutar I can highly recommend it as being one of the few remaining virtually untouched, traditional white villages.
