Time Team Specials S19-E01 Castle of the Saxon Kings ( Bamburgh, Northumberland)
Tony and the Team help investigate the Saxon roots of Bamburgh Castle, high on rocky cliffs in Northumberland above the vast North Sea beach and with the magical island of Lindisfarne visible in the distance.
It's been a seat of power for thousands of years and has long held the attention of archaeologists. The Team are at Bamburgh to help the Bamburgh Research Project, which for a decade and a half has been digging through 1000 years of history to uncover the Saxon roots of this fortress.
Bamburgh was once home to the 'Bernician Kings', Anglo Saxon overlords who ruled great swathes of Britain. Could there be a unique stone-built hall under the carefully manicured lawns of today's castle?
As the Team hear stories of brutal death and financial wealth, and examine finds of gold jewellery and stone thrones, Phil and the diggers edge closer to a tantalising discovery.

Human Bones Found on Deadman's Island | StoryTrender Selects

Deadman’s Island lives up to its name as amateur adventurers discovered human remains on one of its muddy banks.
When friends Simon and Stephen took a hovercraft past the Isle of Sheppey, Kent, at the beginning of 2019, little could they expect what they would find.
As the small river island was used as a burial place for prisoners who perished from disease in the 19th century, coffins were buried six feet below the mud.
Walking along the banks, the adventurous pair came across a pile of bones, including half a dozen jaw bones, ribs, pelvises and a metatarsal.

Queenborough Kent
Did a recon today to check the slipway out for a kayak trip. I was told you have to watch the tide as you can get a 6 to 8 knot race.
Took some time to walk around the town and I found it has a very old world style that grew on me a lot - can see it's a nice place to live.
Not everyone would agree but there is something about the place that just grows on you. Visit and see for yourself...

Took a spin in the hovercraft to watch Grain Chimney demolished!

September 7th 2016 was a grey & miserable day, but a good excuse for a mid-week hovercraft cruise - they were demolishing Grain Chimney, the 2nd tallest freestanding concrete structure in the UK. Loads of boats out but we decided to watch from Grain Tower (Address : Number 1, The Thames!) followed by a buzz along the Medway and a bit of lunch at our favourite Hover-Pub, the Old House at Home, Queenborough.
