This was a 5 night trip on the amazing island, Koh Kood, it still remains our favourite out of all the Thai islands. The perfect time to visit is the middle of November, which is when the video was filmed. It's a great time as there are not many tourists on the island, and the waterfalls are still full as the rainy season has not long ended. Also the sea is crystal clear, and calm making it perfect for Kayaking. We did a lot of Kayaking, it was a great way to discover hidden beaches, and the sunsets whilst floating on the water were unbelievable.
Koh Kood is quite a large Island, its actually Thailand's fourth largest. If you are wondering how long to spend there, our recommendation would be at least 3 nights, but longer if you want to fully appreciate the island. You could quite easy spend a week or more and not get bored, It's absolute paradise, you will never want to leave.

Day 8 (Koh Kood เกาะกูด, also spelled Ko Kood or Koh Kut): Eastern Thailand Food and Travel Tour. Watch all 8 videos here:
This is Day 8 of my Eastern Thailand food and travel series. Our final destination was the island of Koh Kood (เกาะกูด), and one of the best islands and most beautiful in Thailand. From the water to the beaches, to the jungle, you’ll be in awe.
How to get to Koh Kood? We took the Boonsiri Ferry - 1,000 THB ($31.75) per person round-trip. It takes about 1.5 hours to get there.
On this one day guide of food and travel in Koh Kood (เกาะกูด), we hired a pickup truck to drive us around (Private vehicle - 2,000 THB ($63.50) whole day) to some of the famous sites, beaches, and restaurants. It was an amazing day.
The Sunshine Resort Koh Kood at Ao Phrao Beach (อ่าวพร้าว) - This is where we stayed for the first few nights in Koh Kood. A very nice relaxing quiet place.
Khao Saleun (ข้าวสะลื่น) - It doesn’t really have a name, but this small rice and curry restaurant serves great food in Koh Kood.
Mushroom curry (แกงเห็ดเสม็ด)
Chicken curry (แกงไก่บ้าน)
Total price - 100 THB ($3.17)
Old Tree 1
Old Tree 2
Klong Chao Waterfall (น้ำตกคลองเจ้า) - There are a number of tropical waterfalls on Koh Kood, and we went to Klong Chao, because of its big pool of water. It did start raining, but it was still fun.
Khao Reua Rub (เขาเรือรบ) - This is a shrine and there’s not much to see, but it’s interesting.
Bang Bao Beach (บางเบ้า) - This is one of the best beaches in Koh Kood and in Thailand. Crystal clear bathtub water.
Ao Yai Fisherman Village (บ้านอ่าวใหญ่) - One of the things I wanted to do most in Koh Kood was visit a fishing village to eat seafood. The village is great, and well worth checking out and exploring when you’re in Koh Kood.
Chonthicha Restaurant (ร้านชลธิชา) - There are a few different seafood restaurants, but we chose this one.
Squid with garlic (ปลามึกทอดกระเทียม)
Murex sashimi (หอยเงาะ)
Hoy pawk pad prik pao (หอยพอกผัดพริกเผา)
Shrimp pineapple curry (แกงคั่วสับปะรด)
Fried slipper lobster (กั้งกระดานทอดกระเทียม)
Total price - 1,360 THB ($43.18)
The most unique dish of the meal was Murex sashimi (หอยเงาะ), in Thai it’s called a Rambutan Shell, after the fruit.
Koh Kood (เกาะกูด) is the type of island where you can go to your resort and just not move, and that is great. But there are also some amazing things to do when you’re there as well, and I hope this video gives you some great ideas. Thank you for watching!

Koh Rayang, Thailand (Rayang Phurin Resort)
We spent two days at Rayang Phurin Resort in March 2013 and apart from a few day trippers in the afternoons we were the only people there! A private Robinson Crusoe castaway island all to ourselves...
To be honest though, even if the place was full it would still feel like a private getaway, because there are only about eight bungalows in total, and it's a wide and long beach with lots of seating under the trees to get out of the midday sun.
Getting here is easy. Just roll up to Kham Nature Resort -- the next hotel up from the Maka Thanee Pier on Ao Kao beach. Go to the beach bar and the old guy there will radio the island for a courtesy boat...depending on how busy they are this will only take 15-30 minutes to arrive, and the crossing is no more than five to ten minutes.
It's a small boat that pulls up in the shallows, so expect to get wet to your knees.
Once on Rayang you have one beach facing roughly south, so the sun rises shining through your bungalow window and sets at the back of the island, with the tip of the triangular beach getting full rays until right at the end of the day.
That, however, is about it!
There's a couple of kayaks for a few hundred Bhat each, volleyball/basketball (if you have the energy), a beach bar for 'long drinks' (rum and coke, vodka and coke and G&T) and a restaurant for beer and food.
But if you have come to Phurin, it's for a bit of sun-worship, and probably little else -- so enjoy the pure white sand, comfy deckchairs and swaying palms.
Of course you might also be up for some snorkelling -- and I'm told that it's pretty good. However I made the mistake of swimming out at low tide with no mask and ended up with a foot-full of sea urchin spines (ouch!). However fear not...a first aider is at hand! And should you fall foul of one of these spiny menaces then don't raise an eyebrow when the barman pulls out a slice of lime, a bottle of water and an empty bottle of beer.
The water washes your foot clean, the lime gets rubbed into the wounds (we're still not sure why) and the beer bottle -- wait for it -- gets used for ten to fifteen minutes to gently beat the sole of your foot numb!
Apparently this does two things -- loosens some of the spikes that are nearer the surface and allows them to be removed, and secondly breaks up and neutralises the deeper ones. I'm writing this two days later, my foot hasn't fallen off and I am walking fairly normally, if a little gingerly.
But back to the resort. The rooms are basic, but comfortable. We had a fan, a mossie net and a pretty western-standard mattress. The bathroom was OK although the flush packed up for a while and we had to top up the cistern manually with the side-hose. Power only kicks in at 6am and is supposed to go off at midnight, but on our two nights it stayed running until about 4am.
The restaurant was -- understandably with just the two of us -- running at a bare minimum. English amongst the staff was limited (almost non-existent), but not as much as the menu...because the cooks had 'gone home for a few days'. So we had to 'slum it' with the lunch menu...which proved to be no bad thing because the yellow curry was excellent (if a little thin the second night), and the value was great.
Breakfast is ordered the night before (as well as specifying a time) -- but it's a bit of a lottery what you will get unless you are absolutely clear on the order form!
The only other gripe was 'flies with everything!' -- it may have just been the time of year, but we were swatting the little sods off everything pretty much constantly. These weren't mainly the sand-fly variety, just your common-or-garden ones...so just an annoyance rather than a bite-hazard.
However that said I still came away looking like a pin-cushion, so there must have been some active mosquitoes or something similar doing the rounds as well.
I can't sign this review off without giving a mention to the two beach-dogs and the hotel cat. Three lovely characters, and if anyone actually sees the dogs catch a crab or a fish I'd love to hear about it. The cat may sound like it is in pain, but I think that MREEEAAAGGGHHH is just Thai for meow.

Welcome to the final Episode of the series. Thailand's Top Luxury Hotels.
Today we Visit Koh Chang and Koh Kood which is a very small beautiful island just a short boat trip from Koh Chang, it has one of the most exclusive hotels I have ever visited.
Koh Chang is approx 4 hours drive from Bangkok via car and car ferry, or 1 hour by Air and Speedboat from Bangkok.
As with all of this series, these hotels are my top 5, not related to any official rankings from travel sites. This is not paid promotion.
Ko Chang, one of the largest Thai islands in the Gulf of Thailand, contains dense, steep jungle.
Mu Ko Chang National Park, a preserve with hiking trails and waterfalls such as tiered Klong Plu, covers the interior and extends to offshore coral reefs.
The coast is dotted with beaches and villages including Bang Bao, built on piers.
Hat Tha Nam (aka Lonely Beach) has a waterfront party scene that attracts backpackers.
With steep, jungle-covered peaks, picturesque Ko Chang (Elephant Island) retains its remote and rugged spirit – despite attempts to transform it into a package-tour destination.
Sweeping bays are sprinkled along the west coast; most have super-fine sand, some have pebbles.
Because of its relative remoteness, it is only in the last 20 years or so that tourists – and 24-hour electricity – have arrived.
Today, it is still a slog to get here, but the resorts are now busy with Chinese package tourists, Cambodian-bound backpackers and beach-hopping couples funnelling through to more remote islands in the Mu Ko Chang National Marine Park.
Along the populous west coast are virtual mini-towns with a standard of living that has outpaced the island’s infrastructure.
For a taste of old-school Chang, head to the southeastern villages and mangrove forests of Ban Salak Phet and Ban Salak Kok.
