The Paulina Plunge
Jump on the bus and we're all kids again; meet the guides and the fun begins. Board your bike, get your gear, have no fear, it's downhill from here. Gravity will be your friend, as you descend deep into the Oregon backcountry. Only here will you discover the grandeur of the Paulina mountains and the secrets of Chief Paulina's waterslide. Along the way you will learn the legends of the ancient indigenous people and the saga of Chief Paulina. Be assured you'll be traveling in the foot steps of the Chief, even though they're the impressions of your guide.
During the length of the trip, you will descend over 2,500 vertical feet on your mountain bike. That translates into four 1-1/2 mile biking segments to each waterfall stop. While coasting down the smooth dirt forest trail, you will be close to the shimmering waterfalls of the stream. The group will visit up to 6 pristine waterfalls, ranging in height from 10 to 40 feet, as well as 2 safe natural waterslides, to explore and play in. Two short energetic nature hikes, at a distance of 1/2 mile each, will be required to reach the enchanting waterfalls and slides below. This safe, fun family excursion is attractive for all active age groups, 4 to 70 years young and possibly beyond.
Our guides will fill you in on local history, geology and archeology which makes this area so unique. This region is considered by archeologists to be one of the richest sights in the Northwest. Native Americans have lived in the shadow of this dynamic volcano for at least 10,000 years. When the group arrives at the waterfalls below, we'll indulge in the traditional Paulina Plunge and then break for a snack lunch. As the days adventure comes to an end, there will be plenty of time for another soothing waterfall shower and a cold soda pop.
TOUR COST: $60 per person for all ages. Recommended age 4-70 years. Mountain bike, helmet and day pack are included. Add $8.00 for a low fat snack lunch or pack your own lunch. $2 for a one liter water bottle. Tour schedule, meet time, location and cancellations click Reservations Cash or check preferred. Visa and Mastercard accepted.

Bike Trips - Bend OR
In this episode of Cheap Family Travel ( Nick, Regan, Maggie and Kate took the Paulina Plunge in Bend, Oregon. The Paulina Plunge is a unique bike trip that combines mountain biking, hiking and jumping into and sliding down waterfalls. It's a great family trip. The bike tour starts in Sunriver, Oregon, just outside of Bend. A short bus ride takes you up Mount Paulina, while guides talk about the local history and point out the surrounding landmarks. Then you get a high-end Redline mountain bike and hit the bike trails. Except for the Minute of Misery, the Mountain biking trail is an easy downhill ride through beautiful scenery. We made several stops where we hiked down to waterfalls and rockslides. It was a blast. Our guide, Andy Cecil, was funny and helpful. He knew all about the area, mountain biking, and where to jump and slide. Cheap Family Travel really loved this unique adventure tour. If you're ever near Bend, Oregon, you gotta take the Paulina Plunge!

Emma's Birthday - Sunriver, Oregon | GoPro Hero 3
For my 15th birthday, I decided to take my friends to Sunriver Resort. We stayed in an awesome house (all 10 of us!) and we had a great time! This was the rafting trip we took. We found two really fun places to jump off rocks... SO WE DID! Overall, I know we had a great time, however cold the water may have been :P More miscellaneous footage from the rest of the trip to come!

Winter wonderland at Tumalo Falls In the winter
With a sheer plunge of 89 feet, Tumalo Falls is both the tallest and most impressive waterfall along Tumalo Creek - as well as one of the most popular outdoor destinations in the vicinity of Bend. The area around the falls was burnt in a 1979 forest fire, though like the landscape surrounding Mount St. Helens after it's devastating 1980 eruption, the forest is quickly healing. A few snags still line the hillsides along the valley but the area is green again, covered with small fir trees and not at all detracting from the splendor of the falls. A nice set of viewpoints both at the top and near the base of the falls make viewing the falls possible for nearly everyone. Those looking for a nice weekend outing will find this a great spot in the Bend area.
