Let's Take a Look at Tolga and The Tolga Scrub. Far North Queensland Australia
Tolga and Tolga Scrub are located on the Atherton Tableland in Far North Queensland, Australia
The Tolga Scrub, being one of the last remaining fragments of the endangered Mabi rainforest on the Atherton Tableland is only 65 acres in area and is long and narrow. It is about 2 km (1.2 miles) long and 100m (109 yards) wide. It is the most drought resistant rainforest in Australia.
The township of Tolga is the centre of the region’s peanut industry. The name Tolga is thought to be derived from the Aboriginal word for red volcanic soil. The town was originally called Martin Town, and grew out of a Cobb and Co staging post at Rocky Creek. The town's name was changed to Tolga in 1903 when the railway was extended from Mareeba.

Babinda Harvest Festival Queen
The Babinda Harvest Festival is an annual Babinda event. In this sugar town, it celebrates the start of the sugarcane harvest (mid June), as well as celebrating the harvesting of other tropical produce from our region -- bananas, pawpaws, tropical flowers and vailla to name a few.
A lovely local community who made us most welcome. In 2013 the Babinda Festival, just south of Cairns, will celebrate it's 50th anniversary, making it by our reckoning as one of Australia's oldest festivals.
The parade was community festival at its best. The showground was 98 per cent locals which demonstrates the strength of the town which boosts the highest annual rainfall in Australia. We were totally besotted by the Babinda Harvest Queen component where young local women compete in several categories guaged against a value set which epitomises Queenland country town values.
MC for the day. Michele Dale, was excellent. .

Queensland Nut Producers in Kingaroy Say It's Their Biggest Crop Yet
After years of having imported nuts flood the Australian market, Queensland peanut farmers are hopeful this year they'll be able to supply as many as Aussies want. The Kingaroy crop is the biggest ever and according to growers, a cleaner healthier option than the foreign alternative.

Cassowary poo in the rainforest
I saw a nice pile of cassowary poo on the edge of the rainforest which had started to sprout.
Cassowaries eat a lot of rainforest fruit and poo out the seeds, which then germinate and biodisperse the seeds to grow more trees.
Yes, I know, I'm weird - but I find this fascinating to see the interconnectedness of life in the rainforest.
