Newcastle County Down, Slieve Donard Hotel, Northern Ireland
Newcastle Co. Down - A glimpse of the beach town, Slieve Donard Hotel, main street and more...
Newcastle Co Down is a lovely town to visit - the beach is amazing, just off the beach is the equally impressive Slieve Donard Hotel. Newcastle Northern Ireland (not to be confused with the English city of the same name!) is a small town that nestles between the Slieve Donard Mountain and the Irish Sea - it would also be well known for the Royal County Down Golf Club.
The town is a great base for exploring the local area - Tollymore Forest Park ( Donard Park, Murlough Nature Reserve and more. There is a wide variety of B&B and hotels in the area - some amazing restaurants in the town, and loads of shops selling ice cream :-) What more do you need?
Newcastle is a small seaside resort in county Down, Northern Ireland, which is one reason why its beach is always referred to and mentioned. This small seaside resort lies on the Irish sea at the foot of Slieve Donard, one of the Mourne Mountains, and is known with its sandy beach and the Royal County Down Golf Club. With all these different features which the town is known with, it is trying to promote itself as the activity resort for Northern Ireland - since we love the place, we could say that it will be able to win this.
Newcastle is not just a place that Irish people tend to come to from across the country, but it is also a touristic destination for the tourists coming from abroad to visit the country. There are different things that tourists come for and the most important of them is Slieve Donard since they come to walk the Mourne Mountains. In addition to this main attraction in the town, the second one is the Royal County Down Golf Club which is now recognized as the number one golf course in the world. There is also one important thing to mention when it comes to Newcastle in Northern Ireland which is the Mourne Granite which was quarried in Newcastle and shipped all around the world for many years and which was also used to make paving stones for different cities like London and New York, and was also being used to make the base for 9/11 memorial in New York - it seems that this small town at the end of the road is filled with things that serves the whole world.
These different things that might interest any person coming to visit Newcastle in Northern Ireland differ from the places which might attract tourists and give them places which they could see, such as the Tollymore Forest Park ( and the Donard Park, the Shimna River, the Murlough Nature Reserve which is located between Newcastle and Dundrum where Dundrum Castle is located and which we have been to before ( the Slidderyford Dolmen, Saint Patrick Stream, as well as Newcastle Harbour.
In this trip and while exploring Newcastle, we have visited the Slieve Donard Hotel, we have walked down the streets of the town and even came across their shopping center and the different shops and restaurants scattered around the street. One of those places of interest in this town was the Percy French Restaurant which is located inside the Slieve Donard Hotel and which is the place where the third door in the Game of Thrones movie series appeared and also one of the reasons why a lot of those fans for the movie tend to come and visit it (
There are a lot of scenes from Game of Thrones which were taken in Northern Ireland, whether it is something related to the doors that appeared throughout the movie or else general locations which might be found across the country - we believe that this movie actually succeeded at making some of these locations more famous than they really were.
The Dark Hedges ( Cushendun Caves ( Lough Neagh ( Binevenagh Mountain ( are all different locations for the movie that are all found in Northern Ireland and which are also considered touristic places - or at least some of them. The doors which appeared in the movie were found in different places like restaurants, cafes, and hotels around the country as well.
There are some places which are near Newcastle and that will be always shown through the signs that are found near the hotel, such as the Giant's Causeway ( St. Patrick's Visitor Centre, and other signs and places as well, you just have to know how to head out for them and whether they are within a walking distance or need something to take you there.
You must place Newcastle town on your list when it comes to Northern Ireland!
Some of the best locations around Ireland / Northern Ireland and further afield. A travel blog/vlog of the hidden treasures that are on our doorstep.
Cullercoats, Tyne and Wear, UK
Cullercoats is located between Tynemouth and Whitley Bay. There is a semi-circular sandy beach with cliffs and caves, and the village is a popular destination for day-trippers. The name is thought to derive from Dove (or Culver) Cotes.
Historically the village depended on fishing; there was also local coal mining in so-called bell pits. The coal was used to fire salt pans (now long gone) on the field now known as the boat field. As a port, Cullercoats was used to export both salt and coal. However, the salt industry declined and the growth of the railways led to coal shipments being relocated to better harbours. This left fishing as the main industry and two piers were built on either side of the harbour to provide shelter for the many open top fishing vessels, or cobles, launched from the harbour.
The harbour is the home of the Dove Marine Laboratory, a research and teaching laboratory which forms part of the School of Marine Science and Technology within Newcastle University
In 1848, a coble taking a pilot to a ship further out at sea capsized with the loss of all on board. In response to this disaster the local landowner, the Duke of Northumberland funded the setting up of an RNLI lifeboat station. The following year a second disaster, this time costing 20 lifeboat crew their lives, prompted the Duke to sponsor a competition to design a self-righting lifeboat. The resulting boat, the Percy was built at the Duke's expense and delivered to Cullercoats in 1852. The Brigade House and watchtower were later added above the harbour, but the lifeboat station remained in use, with a few minor alterations, until 2003 when a new station was opened.
The Bay Hotel, an important local landmark, was demolished in 2005. It is notable for a period in the 1880s when it was home to the American watercolour artist Winslow Homer who stayed in room 17 of the Hudleston Arms (1870) (later called the Bay Hotel), and maintained a studio across the road at No.12 Bank Top (demolished 1930). Homer was a resident in Cullercoats for approximately 18 months, from late March 1881 to early November 1882. An apartment block, named Winslow Court, has been built on the site of the Bay Hotel (2007).
Cullercoats is interesting from an architectural perspective: on Simpson Street there is a row of fishermen's cottages which were preserved during the redevelopment of the village in the 1970s. Between the coast and the railway (now Metro) line are Victorian terraces. The land immediately on the other side consists of long avenues of semi-detached houses built between the wars. Another change can be seen along the line of Broadway where the housing changes again to mixed semi-detached/detached 1970s and 1980s housing estates built around long winding roads and cul-de-sacs. Also of note is St George's Parish Church as a good example of Gothic revival architecture.
The present station was first opened by the North Eastern Railway in 1882, and the original station buildings are still in use, although now for the Tyne and Wear Metro.

The Mountains of Mourne - Denis O'neil - Percy French song - 78 rpm
Here's The Mountains of Mourne sung Denis O'neil a Percy French song from a 78 rpm shellac record released in 1930.
The lyrics to the song The Mountains of Mourne were written by Irish musician Percy French. It is normally sung to the traditional Irish folk tune Carrigdonn or Carrigdhoun [1] as it is sometimes spelt. This was the same tune used by Thomas Moore (1779–1852) for his song Bendemeer's Stream.
The song is representative of French's many works concerning the Irish diaspora. The Mourne Mountains of the title are located in County Down in the United Kingdom.
The song is a whimsical look at the styles, attitudes and fashions of late nineteenth-century London as seen from the point of view of an emigrant labourer from a village near the Mountains of Mourne. It is written as a message to the narrator's true love at home. The sweep down to the sea refrain was inspired by the view of the mountains from Skerries in north County Dublin.[2]
It contrasts the artificial attractions of the city with the more natural beauty of his homeland.

Central and Eastern European Packaging examines the packaging industry throughout this region, but in particular in the largest regional economies which are Russia, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Ukraine and Austria. That is not to say that the other countries are forgotten, they are not, but obviously there is less going on. However the fact that there are so many travel related films here is not from holidays but from business trips attending trade fairs around the region. Every packaging trade fair is a new excuse to make another film!

Percy Montgomery Tribute
Born in Namibia, Montgomery played 102 times for South Africa between 1997 and 2008 and is currently the highest points scorer in Springboks history.
He made his international bow against the British & Irish Lions in July 1997 as an outside centre and also featured at the 1999 Rugby World Cup. However his greatest achievement in Springbok colours came at the 2007 Rugby World Cup where he helped South Africa lift the game's biggest prize.
He began his Currie Cup career with Western Province and made his Super Rugby debut for the Stormers before opting for a stint in Wales in 2002 with Newport and then the Newport Gwent Dragons. In 2003, Montgomery was sent off for pushing a touch judge to the ground, and was later heavily fined and given a two-year ban, with 18 months suspended. As a result he was ruled out of the 2003 Rugby World Cup in Australia.
He returned home to South Africa in 2005 to play for Natal Sharks in the Currie Cup and the Sharks in Super Rugby but headed north again in 2007 to join French Top 14 side Perpignan. He rejoined Western Province and the Stormers in 2008 before bringing the curtain down on his playing career in May 2009 following the Super 14 season.
Montgomery had amassed 50 caps by the end of 2001 but his international career stalled when he moved to Wales as South Africa's selection policy demanded that only players who were playing in South Africa could be eligible for the Springboks.
After a change in policy, he was recalled by new coach Jake White in 2004 and helped South Africa clinch the 2004 Tri-Nations crown. During the 2007 Rugby World Cup, Montgomery eclipsed Joost van der Westhuizen's record as the most-capped Springbok - making his 90th appearance for his country against Tonga.
Montgomery announced his retirement from international rugby on August 30, 2008, after the Springboks beat Australia 53-8 in their last game of the 2008 Tri-Nations. But he re-joined the Springboks' set-up in May 2009 as the team's kicking consultant.

A look back at old scenes of Newcastle upon Tyne
Newcastle upon Tyne often shortened to Newcastle is a city and metropolitan borough of Tyne and Wear, in North East England. Historically a part of Northumberland, it is situated on the north bank of the River Tyne. The city developed in the area that was the location of the Roman settlement called Pons Aelius, though it owes its name to the castle built in 1080, by Robert II, Duke of Normandy, the eldest son of William the Conqueror. The city grew as an important centre for the wool trade and it later became a major coal mining area. The port developed in the 16th century and, along with the shipyards lower down the river, was amongst the world's largest shipbuilding and ship-repairing centres. These industries have since experienced severe decline and closure, and the city today is largely a business and cultural centre, with a particular reputation for nightlife.
Like most cities, Newcastle has a diverse cross section, from areas of poverty to areas of affluence.Among its main icons are Newcastle Brown Ale, a leading brand of beer, Newcastle United F.C., a Premier League team, and the Tyne Bridge. It has hosted the world's most popular half marathon, the Great North Run, since it began in 1981.
The city is the sixteenth most populous city in the United Kingdom; while the larger Tyneside conurbation, of which Newcastle forms part, is the sixth most populous conurbation in the United Kingdom. Newcastle is a member of the English Core Cities Group and with Gateshead the Eurocities network of European cities.
The regional nickname for people from Newcastle and the surrounding area is Geordie.
The dialect of Newcastle is known as Geordie, and contains a large amount of vocabulary and distinctive word pronunciations not used in other parts of the United Kingdom. The Geordie dialect has much of its origins in the language spoken by the Anglo-Saxon populations who migrated to and conquered much of England after the end of Roman Imperial rule. This language was the forerunner of Modern English; but while the dialects of other English regions have been heavily altered by the influences of other foreign languages—particularly Latin and Norman French—the Geordie dialect retains many elements of the old language. An example of this is the pronunciation of certain words: dead, cow, house and strong are pronounced deed, coo, hoos and strang—which is how they were pronounced in the Anglo-Saxon language. Other Geordie words with Anglo-Saxon origins include: larn (from the Anglo-Saxon laeran, meaning teach), burn (stream) and gan (go). Bairn and hyem, meaning child and home, are examples of Geordie words with origins in Scandinavia; barn and hjem are the corresponding modern Norwegian words. Some words used in the Geordie dialect are used elsewhere in the northern United Kingdom. The words bonny (meaning pretty), howay (come on), stot (bounce) and hadaway (go away or you're kidding), all appear to be used in Scottish dialect; aye (yes) and nowt ,nothing) are used elsewhere in northern England. Many words, however, appear to be used exclusively in Newcastle and the surrounding area, such as Canny (a versatile word meaning good, nice or very), bait (food), hacky (dirty), netty (toilet), hoy (throw), hockle (spit).

North Shields is a town on the north bank of the River Tyne, in the metropolitan borough of North Tyneside,in the UK. It is located 13 km east of Newcastle upon Tyne. It has a population of 39,042.
Its name derives from Middle English schele meaning 'temporary sheds or huts (used by fishermen)' and still today, the area is synonymous with fishing and other trades associated with seafaring.

St Louis Archelous PISO pipe Swedish Kings Bernadot Lourdes Mrs Magnusson Qu Vic Rothschild Batards
We start with armies of christian story told in yesterdays video but take you further into the world owning bloodlines . The Louis nomenclature is cover for Archelaus PISO a prominent family name that becomes ARCHIE LEECH in a FISH CALLED WANDA featuring Kevin Klein & the Cluny abbey jokes. THIS TIME we are ON THE TREE Branch that takes us into King Georges I-III of BRITAIN. We start tracking the bloodline to the relatives of William the Conqueror leading the FRANKISH christian armies around 1060. We find the CAPETS Hugh the Great Henry the FOWLER (Kevin Spacey line REAL NAME FOWLER that becomes the chicken run movie in case GOD takes the human actors down for taking the PISO PISS that is the BIRDS film for Rabii Hitchcock 's family in hollywood). Spacey is dead ringer for Jack Lemmon & my Bro in law Dr Stephen Andrew Hancocks OBE. The Capet line is Falco Falconer & becomes FALDO on AUGUSTA's golf courses for inept GLOBAL politicians as they were taught by Arius Calpurnius PISO's descendents all trackable on the PI interest web site & the Emperor Getta GETTY rich list images. On the Fowler mad King George bloodline I show you how CLOVIS becomes Louis 1st into the the Versaille beheadings in CIRCA 1789 & when FRANKISH christianity becomes mass murders under the OAK for THOR and the people that do that become SAINT Louis the 12th I think but the truth is in the video with the dates and the spouses. I then remind you that Robert LOUIS Stevenso is also part of CLOVIS ancient line from the roman Empierors which are picked by PISO then married to them like Murdoch does now with the WARNER legacy at fox news. The second half of the video is the Dutch monarchy & King Gustaf who met me in Newcastle smoking the PISO pipe. The Swedes were the biggest killers in the 30 years war Catholic Vs Protestant KINGDOMS, Holy Roman Germanic Empires. At the same time the LIEDEN pilgrims were transiting from Holland (the worlds oldest golf course at Loenen near Christian LIEden then into the USA via York& Plymouth. I have the director numbers for the MERCHANT ADVENTURER COMPANY that was run on the Mayflower by Chris Martin (the coldplay joke Martin has 1st class degree in ancient world history). The Swedish story exemplifies how the ROTHSCHILD breeding with Queen Victoria & the SALIC LAWS dismember the whole of Europe. King Gustaf is the only son of his dad ADOLPH (friend of Bernhardt the NAZI founder of BILDERBURG & DAVOS fascism) . The swedes are the BERNADOTS which becomes St Bernadette of LOURDES & Maggie Smith's YELLOW van visions of the virgin Mary in this years comedy covers....THAT is Miss Jean Brodie who may INCREDIBLY may be descended from POPPEA the founding of the poppy fund & the Royal Bloodline profiteering at the cenotaph since Blenheim was built for churchill and Poppy became the nickname of Bush's parentage. So the Victoria kids & grand kids became the banished JEWISH & CHRISTIAN nobility all bastards. Eventually we find King Gustaf who was crowned King CARLE XVI the code number for PIE in the PISO writings and that is the untouched virginal PIE/Fanny that got queen Victoria married bigamously to Albert/Albrecht in the virginal white wedding dress when she was already a mother of Blind Prince George of HANOVER Cumbria (relative of butcher of Cumberland at CULL ODEN & the 3 German kings in the bloodline. The King with the pipes ancestors become obvious when you discover his full title is Carl Gustaf Folke Hubertus. His dad ADOLPH (in WW2) was killed in a plane crash when he went to visit war & reparations/De Havilland criminal/profiteer Bernhardt the NAZI . King Gustaf has several elder sisters but because of the salic laws 7 the Nesle AFFAIRS they dont get to be queen. Gustaf's wife is beautiful and is Sommerlath & the Silver Silvania names are through the bloodline which is the Phil Silvers Roman Emperor bloodline for the buffoon BILKO. Gustaf and Princess Christina look like really decent people behind that cloud of PISO smoke for the PAPACY. Please get in touch Carl Gustaf Folke Hubertus & thank you for letting me know it was US....like BERTIE at the end of the stammering FREEMASON KING's speech. I mean you no harm and SWEDEN/Upsalla have the capacity for greatness from drug safety research to CIVILISATION. The Manchester concert terror pops up with SPEAKER Berko, Theresa May (Von Brassier Previous at Bof E)and it was THE MASTER race Band 22 killed at Ariana Grande gig USUAL SUSPECTS.
