Nowadays, anyone with a cellphone can take pictures. Most of them are likely to be deleted or soon forgotten. But in Mauritius, taking pictures as a form of art has a long tradition. And one man's made it his life's mission, to collect and display the very best photos.
Mauritius Tagesausflüge - Port Louis
Während unseres Urlaubs auf Mauritius haben wir auch einen Tagesausflug in den Norden der Insel gemacht. Zuerst ging es in die Hauptstadt Port Louis. Hier haben wir das Blue Penny Museum besucht. In dem Museum ist die Kolonialgeschichte der Insel dargestellt sowie eine Sammlung der wertvollen Briefmarken aus den Zeiten der britischen Kolonialzeit. Die Blaue Mauritius ist auch dabei.
Nach einem Besuch auf dem Wochenmarkt in der Nähe des Hafens ging es mit einer Yacht an der Küste entlang in Richtung Norden nach Trou aux Biches. Nach dem Mittagessen ging es dann wieder mit dem Bus weiter an das Cap Malheureux mit der vorgelagerten Insel Coin de Mire. Danach ging es zur Firma Historic Marine in Goodlands. Hier werden maßstabsgetreu diverse (historische) Schiffe in bester Handarbeit nachgebaut. Zum Abschluss ging es dann noch nach Pamplemousses in den Botanischen Garten. Der ist berühmt für seine Wasserlilien und verschiedensten Palmensorten.

The 'Unveiling' team paid a second visit to the Museum of Mr Goorooduth Chuttoo to discover more objects, worthy of preservation.
The Photografic Museum
Situated in a backstreet in the centre of Port Louis almost facing the old theatre, a little sign shows the way to a collection of inestimable value: the only Photography Museum in Mauritius and the surrounding islands.
From an early age, the established photographer Tristan Bréville has been fascinated by photography. Together with his wife Marie Noelle he has been doing research all over the world and has been purchasing those little pieces of Mauritian history to save them from oblivion.
Their collection consists of more than 1 Million negatives, more than 5000 glass negatives, 30 danguerrotypes, 9000 postcards and more than 1000 cameras. But the most important thing is meeting a family who has spared no effort to preserve the memory of their country. Xplore Mauritius Dodo Museum
The dodo (Raphus cucullatus) was a flightless bird endemic to the Indian Ocean island of Mauritius.The discovery yielded several Dodo bones, including remains of Dodo chicks and a very rare part of the bird's beak, only a few of which are known to exist in the entire world.The skeleton on view in the Museum is real, the model is not, as there are no complete Dodo specimens.

CHAMAREL SEVEN COLORED EARTH GEOPARK | BEST MAURITIUS ATTRACTIONS AND DESTINATIONS 2019
I will bring you all again to a bizarre geological formation but beautiful and prominent tourist attraction, that is found in Chamarel plain of the Riviere Noire District in South-Western Mauritius.
Entry to the geopark is Rs250 for Adults and Rs150 for Children. This gives you access to see the Chamarel Waterfall & the Seven Coloured Earth. The park is open from 08:30 in the morning and closes at 5:30 in the afternoon.
This world famous attraction is a unique volcanic geological phenomenon resulting in seven colours of earth swirled together to create a beautiful feature.
Depending on the light and time of day you visit, you will see an amazing mix of red, brown, violet, green, blue, purple and yellow coloured earth. The different shades of colour are believed to be a consequence of the molten volcanic rock cooling down at different external temperatures but the causes of their consistent spontaneous separation are yet to be fully clarified.
Nowadays, the dunes are protected by a wooden fence and visitors are not allowed to climb on them, although they can look at the scenery from observation outposts placed along the fence.
Due to the tropical weather conditions, all water-soluble elements such as silicon dioxide have been washed out. The remains are the reddish-black iron- and aluminium oxides which create shades in blue, cyan and purple. The various colors developed due to the different compositions.
And what is more fascinating is the fact that if you mix the colored earth together, they'll eventually settle into separate layers. And you may also be puzzled as the colors might play tricks on you and may appear to be shadows. The impressive thing is that the dunes do not erode. They stay how they are even after a big rain.
With its 600 million years of history, Chamarel 7 Coloured Earth is one spectacular Geo Park destination!
