Many Hands Orkney 2016
Devised and assembled by Antony Hodgson
Individual hands made by pupils and staff at Papdale Primary School, Kirkwall. Each pupil made several of the hands. Each hand carries the name of approximately 10 British crewmen lost at the Battle of Jutland or shortly after on HMS Hampshire. The list (taken from official documents) is comprehensive and none of the names are repeated. They range from admirals to boy sailors and also include civilian workers who were on board. In several cases, large ships exploded, instantly killing the entire ship's complement of a thousand or more.
Many Hands was shown at the Pickaquoy Centre in Orkney as part of the Jutland Commemorations and later at a year long exhibition in the school.
Can Orkney cope with rising tourist numbers?
The historic sites, fantastic local produce and unique landscapes have long attracted visitors north to Orkney.
And it's now become the UK's most popular stop on the cruise liner circuit, bringing in hundreds of thousands of tourists each year.
The numbers have been growing fast, but can the most popular attractions on the islands cope?
Emma Murray reports.

Alex Salmond Q&A in Orkney
Apologies for the technical problems with this recording. It is audible enough for the most part and perhaps worth a watch to see a politican engaging with the public in what is a refreshingly direct manner.
First Minister Alex Salmond fields questions on subjects ranging from the inclusivity of civic nationalism to the replacement of Orkney's internal ferry fleet and the long-term importance of the renewable energy industry.
