The Bar Stewards performing as support to the Roy Wood Rock & Roll Band at Holmfirth Picturedrome on Wednesday 17th December 2014. They really got the crowd warmed up with a great performance. Here is one of the videos I took of the band with their new seasonal song 'We Don't Need One Direction This Christmas'.

Biography
Manchester's Federal Charm are already being hailed as the next big thing in the new wave of alternative blues rock bands. If you haven't already heard about this band you soon will. From the attraction of the twin guitar partnership of Nick and Paul to the heavy bombast rhythm section comprising of bassist LD and drummer Danny Rigg, Federal Charm take influence from the classic 70’s bands. Combining the retro sound and adding a modern unique take that makes them relevant to today and gives them wide appeal. Their fresh direction has turned heads in the industry with many describing the band as having the most cutting edge debut album in recent years.
Federal Charm's live show is a powerhouse performance, but not without showcasing their artistic quality, with tracks such as their take on Lowell Fulson's Reconsider slowing things down and allowing their profound blues talents to mesmerise the crowd, before jetting back into the rip-roaring style which is making this band a real crowd favourite.
“Federal charm invest swaggering riffs, sleazy slide flourishes and cinder-raw vocals with a confidence that is utterly winning”, describes Classic Rock, and with their hotly anticipated self-titled debut album set for release through Mystic Records this summer, it is clear to see why there is such a big buzz around this band. After securing many high profile support slots with the likes of Southside Johnny, Jefferson Starship, and Mott the Hoople under their belt, they will be touring the UK extensively this year, as well as headlining multiple festivals. Reviewing the album, bluesandsoul.com claims that as a band trying to emulate the classic sound of 70s rock bands “you need big balls to do this stuff justice, and there are four XXL pairs here.” This is a band not to be missed.Federal Charm has been wowing audiences nationwide since their formation in the summer of 2011. Their unabashed style draws on 60's and 70's era blues of the likes of Free, Freddie King, or as Blues and Soul Magazine puts it, 'think Led Zeppelin meets the Black Crows and you'd be in the right ballpark'. The band have been drawing a lot of attention following some high-profile support slots, such as Michael Schenker, Southside Johnny and Manfredd Mann. Their self titled, debut album has been drawing rave reviews from critics and fans alike, and the onstage partnership of guitarist/singer Nick Bowden and guitarist Paul Bowe is truly electrifying live. It is very clear this band are heading for the big time!

MAMA Genesis
The Picturedrome Holmfirth - Fri 29 Sep - Adv tickets
Mama…. If you are a fan of Progressive Rock and Genesis in particular, then that title should send shivers up and down your spine. The track was a central part to the band’s 1983 self-titled album and is a consistently popular staple of rock radio to this day as well as being part of the live set of several of the tribute bands to Genesis that have sprung up around the UK and elsewhere over the last few years. Speaking of tribute bands, we have Mama who have taken that song as their name. Combining the formidable talents of several musicians who are no strangers to the music of Genesis including vocalist John Wilkinson previously the front man of the extremely popular Face Value, guitarist Darren Dean who previously indulged his passion for Genesis’ music in Genesish and was in the original folk band Straw Dogs, Keyboardsman John Comish who also tried his hand in the last incarnation of Face Value. Bassist Dave Jones meanwhile has played with lots of bands over the year but counts his time with Tim Bowness and his other band Nerve Toy Trio as some of his favourite work, and Drummer James Cooper whose credits include stints with Moonlit Knight and Pink Floydish. They have appeared up and down the United Kingdom at some of the major tribute band venues as well as many theatres and festivals over the past five years. The emphasis is on all era's of Genesis music so you will hear songs from 1972 all the way through to the last album to feature Phil Collins as lead singer, We Can't Dance, and all stations inbetween Their level of musicianship is superbly high, as displayed by the reaction to the gigs which they have already played over the past five years to enthusiastic audiences starting with their debut gig at the Pacific Road Arts Centre Birkenhead getting the following comments from the editor of TWR, the longest established Genesis fan magazine in the world… “this band have arisen from the ashes of one of the best loved tributes to Genesis and taken things to even greater heights. The performance at the Pacific Road Arts Centre in Birkenhead rates as one of the most impressive debuts I have ever seen. Musically spot on the money. Vocally, uncannily like Genesis and visually, convincing enough for me to suspend my disbelief. At times it was as if Genesis themselves were on stage. Either that or they had been cloned - impressive stuff!”

Mama. Genesis Tribute Band. Medley
At Trading Boundaries
Project Title Big Brother (1984)
Brief
To combine relevant fictional and real film footage that relates to the 1980 rock music track 'Big Brother' by Hazel 'O' Conor. Showing a world that is dominated by CCTV and hasn't changed for the better in 20 years no matter which Political Party or Prime Minister is in Power.
Treatment.
A Combination of:
Literature, George Orwell's 1984 (Released 1948)
Film, 1984 based upon the novel by George Orwell (Released 1984)
Commercial Film, Apple's advertising campaign of 1984 referencing the film and the book '1984' (Released 1984)
Reality Film, footage of real life housing in England today, high street violence and the 'Powers That Be' watching over it all. (Circa 2004)
U.K.2007 Big Brother indeed, as we now find that a 'Socialist' Government changes the law to provide a nation with it's most draconian human rights laws for 200 years and considers installing refuse bins with cameras.

Andrew Lindo sentenced
Music teacher Andrew Lindo has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of his fiancee and told he must serve at least 22 years behind bars. The 29 year old was told he'd displayed extraordinary cunning and cruelty in covering up his killing of Marie Stewart and hiding her body in the garage of their home in Holmfirth for almost two months. Marie's father Robert Stewart gave this reaction to the sentencing.
