Antique Centre in Honiton Devon For Sale
Honiton, Devon, England
Advert Ref: 3604
Business Description
Preferred Commercial is delighted to offer for sale this popular antique centre, which was established in 1984 and which has been in our client's careful hands since 2000. The shop is only now reluctantly being placed onto the market due to our clients wish to retire. The business is currently run at a pace to suit our client and generates a turnover in the region of £100,000 with a gross profit of 65%. The shop trades 6 days a week and specialises in quality art and antiques. Our client also rents gallery and retail space to other antique dealers at competitive rates. We feel there is scope to develop more rental space as there is already a waiting list from interested traders. There is a website in place promoting the business and antiques currently available, which we feel could be developed further. A new owner could perhaps embark on a modest marketing campaign as there is currently little advertising in place. Our client has earned an enviable reputation in the area and boasts a loyal customer base with much repeat trade. We feel this is an excellent opportunity to acquire an already popular antiques shop with potential for future growth. Early negotiations with Preferred Commercial must come highly recommended.

Bickleigh Castle Commemorate Victory in Europe Day
BICKLEIGH Castle took a step back in time to celebrate the seventieth anniversary of VE Day.
The fun packed event on Saturday, April 25 including a mixture of exhibition stands, the music of Pipes and Drums, tours of the castle and a host of classic vehicles.
Marketing manager of Bickleigh Castle, Martha Harley said: “I hope people will learn about the importance of VE Day and an interest in the things that went on.
“Personally, I’m a bit of a car girl so I do like the vintage cars, but we also have a Hackney cab photo booth which has been good fun.”
Curator at the castle John Vaughan added: “I think we’ve really hit it off 1940s big time.
“I’m really pleased with the way everyone has joined in, people in uniform and dressing up in the period are doing a great job.
“I think we should do more. It can be difficult to fit events around weddings but we do like to do communal things from time to time.
“We hope to mark more occasions in the future and probably will have something to mark the 100th anniversary to mark the Battle of the Somme next year.”
The castle held the Vintage event and money raised will go towards supporting Help for Heroes and the Royal British Legion.
John Thaw from the Crediton branch of the RBL said: “It’s been well organised and there has been a mixed crowd of young and old which has been nice to see.
“To see the enthusiasm of the retro-veterans with the military vehicles and uniforms has been splendid.
“I would like to thank the supporters of the event for putting it on in aid for both charities who do a tremendous job throughout the world for all those involved in conflict.”
Children from Bickleigh-on-Exe Primary School also joined in by singing songs from the 1940s, including Vera Lyne hits and Run Rabbit Run.
Teacher Laura Thorne said: “They have worked really hard, they only had a week to learn the songs and they sang brilliantly.
“They have put so much effort into their costumes too. It’s really good to see.”
The day culminated with a grand parade of military vehicles led by North Devon Piped & Drums and a moments silence to remember those who fought in World War II.
