Places to see in ( Shoreham by Sea - UK )
Shoreham-by-Sea is a seaside town and port in West Sussex, England. Shoreham by Sea is bordered to its north by the South Downs, to its west by the Adur Valley and to its south by the River Adur and Shoreham Beach on the English Channel.
Shoreham by Sea lies in the middle of the ribbon of urban development along the English south coast, approximately equidistant from the city of Brighton and Hove to the east and the town of Worthing to the west. Shoreham covers an area of 984.88 hectares.
Old Shoreham dates back to pre-Roman times. St Nicolas' Church, inland by the River Adur, is partly Anglo-Saxon The name of the town has an Old English origin. The town and port of New Shoreham was established by the Norman conquerors towards the end of the 11th century.
Shoreham Beach, to the south of the town, is a shingle spit deposited over millennia by longshore drift, as an extension to Lancing parish in the west. This blocks the southerly flow of the River Adur which turns east at this point to discharge into the English Channel further along the coast at a point that has varied considerably over time.
Shoreham Airport lies to the west of the main town and has been in private ownership since 2006. It is the UK's oldest licensed airport still in operation and has a 1936 Grade II*-listed Art Deco terminal building. The town is served by Shoreham-by-Sea railway station, located on the West Coastway Line. Local bus services are provided by the Brighton & Hove bus company, Stagecoach South and a local town route is operated by Compass Travel. Shoreham Tollbridge crosses the River Adur in the west of the town. This bridge is a Grade II* listed building and was the last Sussex toll bridge in use.

Most experienced Harrier pilot
Jack Jackson flew over 600 combat missions in Vietnam. A highly decorated veteran, Jack is the recipient of four Distinguished Flying Crosses, 33 Air Medals, Navy Comendation Medal for Heroism and Valor, a host of campaign medals and, most recently, the Legion of Merit for Service to His Country. He was called back to active duty for Desert Shield where he served as a Harrier Instructor Pilot.
Jack became a test pilot at Boeing Company in January 1978. He tested virtually every type of U.S. fighter aircraft as well as two Russian fighters (Yak38 and SU-27), accumulating over 10,000 flight hours. He made the first flights in the AV8C, AV8 Night Attack, and the AV8 Harrier II radar aircraft In January 2004, he retired from his position as Chief Pilot-Production Test with Boeing Company where he was responsible for all production activities.

Blue Origin founder, Jeff Bezos, says he expects to conduct his first manned test flights as early as next year, and carrying passengers as early as 2018. He says thousands of people have said they are interested in eventually flying with the company. Bezos made the comments during a rare media tour of the Blue Origin facility in Kent, Washington. One of the few remaining members of the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASPs) has Gone West at the age of 96. Elizabeth Strohfus passed away March 6th at an assisted living facility in Faribault, Minnesota. Mrs. Strohfus had ferried military planes across the United States in 1943 and 1944. She also helped train air and infantry gunners at the Las Vegas Army Airfield. According to her bio from the Minnesota Aviation Hall of Fame, she taught instrument flying to male cadets and later ferried B-17s and AT-6s around the country. The issue of continuing airshows in the UK is in serious question. In a piece for the Royal Aeronautical Society, commentator Tim Robinson says that the accident last year at Shoreham, and the resulting rift between the U.K. Civil Aviation Authority and the airshow industry, may be a turning point for airshows in that country. Robinson says the Shoreham accident, Involved people outside the air display minding their own business. There is thus a legal difference between the informed and accepted risks of the pilot, air show spectators who pay to get in to see the display and nearby passers-by who might be injured or killed in an accident. All this -- and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!!

Fairey Swordfish at War Trailer
Video’s story based on chapter from author David Wragg true book “Stringbag The Fairey Swordfish at War” Music credits: Its a Long Way To Tipperary Pack Up Your Troubles In Your Old Kit Bag by Robert Mandell, Reuniting The Fleet (Battlestar Galactica) by Bear McCreary, Baker’s Dozen from the game Brothers In Arms Hells Highway by Ed Lima & Duncan Watt. I still have a lot of work to do to complete the full video. Some unexpected problems I still have to work out. One is recording the replay of torpedoes being launched by the Swordfish, the torpedo spawns a second torpedo so in the shot it still shows a torpedo slung under the Swordfish. I have to record the launch live. Also in replay all the AI Swordfish have no mounting brackets holding the torpedoes, in the shots they are suspended with nothing holding the torpedo to the aircraft. I also had to figure out how to get a Swordfish in a scenario with aircraft carriers. You would think having an aircraft capable of firing torpedoes you should be able set up something in mission builder, I may have missed something but could not find it. The only way I found was to overlay Malta over Brittan battlefront. The problem also carries over to finding a scenario for the Swordfish to launch its torpedoes at a ship. I set up free flights and rolled the dice to get enemy ships on the map. It takes 5 to 7 attempts to get enemy ships to spawn and there AA fire is relentless. I had to swarm the ships with all the AI planes to keep the AA busy so I could set up my torpedo run. Be sure to check out Vote for Birds of Steel after viewing the video Vote at Xbox.com
Flying the B-17 (Then and Now) Trailer

Experience the joy (and the challenge) of putting this magnificent bird through her paces, on the ground and in the air. Feel the awesome power of those four 1,200 horse radials as you speed down the runway at 100 knots (seriously, turn it up, and with the specially encoded audio you can actually FEEL 'em). Gaze through the famed plexiglas nose-cone as you turn downwind, base and final; an exceptional view that will surely be enjoyed by Pilots and Non-Pilots alike!
The carefully restored USAAF/Boeing Company Flight Operations sequences (circa 1943), along with commentary provided by the on-screen crew, put you in the left seat for a typical training mission in the B-17. Rampion digger underwater
An £850,000 digger which weighs a staggering 80 tonnes is stranded off the coast of Britain after getting stuck in the water while building a new £1.3billion wind farm.
The expensive piece of equipment was designed to drive and move in the sea - without getting the person in the cabin wet.
However, it became stuck while working on the Rampion Offshore Wind Farm, which is being developed by energy company E.ON.
The Caterpillar elevated excavator became lodged in one of its trenches and the cabin is partially underwater off the coast of Worthing, West Sussex.
