Bye Bye Beechie - Last Passenger Train to Beech Forest
On the 3rd March 1962, the last passenger train completed the approximately 70 kilometer round trip from Colac to Beech Forest and return with a capacity load of railway fans.
The Australian Railway Historical Society put on two special trains for railway fans, a mainline passenger train headed by R 711 from Melbourne to Colac and return, then fans changed trains to head for Beech Forest on the 2'6 narrow gauge line. Bayer Garret G42 headed this last farewell trip to Beech Forest and back. G42 was later moved to become part of the Puffing Billy Railway at Belgrave.
The line was finally closed to all traffic in June 1962.
This is from a series of photographs taken by Andrew R Lyell that are not included in the Australian National Gallery collection of his photographs curated and arranged by John L Buckland.

Vlog#1 The Redwood Forest
Quick vlog of me getting to the redwood forest in Victoria. It was pretty challenging to get there but it was also good fun. I'm happy with the photography and the style of the video. Still got a long way to go though.

Otways Rainforest Adventure
Otways Rainforest Adventure
I go to the gym to lift heavy and make gains! When it comes to cardio I much prefer getting outside and seeing what beautiful things nature has to offer, with the side benefit of some incidental cardio thrown in along the way!
Last Friday I took an adventure with Forbes and Tony through the Otways in regional Victoria to check out the Californian Forest and Hopetoun Falls in Beech Forest. Though the weather wasn’t totally on our side, and we took a few wrong turns along the way, it was a great day out with some amazing sites to be seen!!
I hope you enjoy this vlog and the footage from the beautiful Victorian Otways Region. It’d be great if you can give this video a thumbs up and leave a comment below. Remember to hit that subscribe button for more great content every week!

Estimated at close to 400-years old, 75-metres tall and with a circumference of 15-metres it’s enormity is best appreciated in the flesh. This leisurely stroll is only 3.2km and will barely work up a sweat as you pass through some remarkable patches of old growth forest.
