Ashbourne History Painting #thetownthatpainted
A community folk art painting of the history of Ashbourne in Derbyshire, UK. It's 6 metres long, 0.57 metre high, painting with traditional egg tempera paints by folk artist Sue Prince and over 170 residents of Ashbourne over the Easter weekend in Ashbourne Town Hall as part of the Ashbourne Treasures Project 2017. The technique of egg tempera folk art painting on linen comes from the village of Unnaryd in Sweden, where 'bonad painting' was a tradition from around 1740 to 1830. Bonad is the Swedish word for decorative wall hanging. Ashbourne resident Cathy Stubbs reads her poem; The Town That Painted.

CarpeDiem Present's Open Air 2013
In August Of 2013 CarpeDiem Ireland ran an open air event in Navan, Co Meath where 8 resident and local DJ's took to 2 different stages over a 7 hour gig.
Some of these residents included Mick Hand, Stephen Moran, Sean Tobin, Samjay Nolan, Gary Moran, Ruben Kusters, Matt Reily, Dan Lynagh, Alan Martin and Chris Holten.
There was a massive crowd at the event and a brilliant day was had by all despite the odd downpour here and there... ( Well that's Ireland for ya )
Music went from Deep House to Funky, to progressive house and all the way to progressive Trance.
We hope to organise another one for summer 2014 however we will surely be perching ourselves underneath a large stage!! :D
I do not own the rights for the music track that was used in this video. All rights go to Mark Knight and Hardwell. The track is called Man with the red face. Support the artist by buying online.

Antique Philadelphia Cherry Longcase Tall Case Clock
This is an antique Philadelphia cherry longcase clock circa 1780. It has the old works. The back of the dial is marked Wilson. There is also his second mark, Wilson Birm. My research shows the following information....James Wilson is one of the best known English dialmakers and was based in Birmingham in partnership with Thomas Osborne from 1772-7 and thereafter on his own, he died in 1809. The English workshops made a lot of faces and movements for US finishers....
A very interesting history/provenance is written on the interior door of this tall case clock documenting when and who serviced it with the earliest date being April 1831 by Thomas Smith.
10 years later Joakim Hill of Flemington, N.J. serviced this clock on November 4th, 1841. My research shows that...Flemington's Joachim Hill was the leading clock maker in 19th century New Jersey. He undertook to repair his clocks and observed the custom of journeying on horseback over a large section of countryside to keep them in running order. Colonial New Jersey was an important center of clock making tall case clocks of high quality that rivaled the best made anywhere in this country. As a maker of eight-day clocks, Hill was known over the Jersey countryside for more than fifty years. The Metroplitan Museum of Art and may other fine museums own clocks that bear Joachim Hill's name. We also have another clockmaker's name from September 15, 1864. He was Mr. Lewis from Bordentown, N.J. The last inscription was when the clock was given to Dr. William Rider by his family on Father's Day 1935. There is a sweet saying also May it tick till time shall be no more. This longcase clock measures a towering 98 inches tall to the top of the center finial. We have seen this clock treasured in a local resident's home for the last 20 to 25 years. Now it is finally available for sale.

DCU in the Community Promotional Video
DCU in the Community is a bridge to higher education.
As part of its Civic Engagement Strategy Dublin City University in June 2008 partnered with Ballymun Regeneration Ltd (BRL) to set up an outreach centre based in the Shangan Road neighbourhood in the heart of Ballymun. Our aim is to broaden access and participation in higher education among Ballymun and North Dublin residents.
DCU in the Community brings the opportunities of higher education to people who have not engaged with it before. It recognises the individual talents of each student and offers a flexible curriculum based on the student's needs and ambitions. The outreach centre will also promote sustainable community development and serve as a bridge to the resources of DCU and the wider higher education system.
The centre also acts as a 'drop-in' centre for all learners seeking information and advice in relation to accessing further education options.
