One spring day
(35) One spring day. The Cornish Maytime tradition of The Black Prince has been carried out in Millbrook since the 14th century and is believed to be pagan in origin - The first part of this short film is in the twin fishing villages of Kingsand and Cawsand.The gathering of folk you see is in front of the Rising Sun pub in Kingsand - The voices you can hear is the Rame peninsula male voice choir (Not the full complement) - The eclectic bunch of morris folk are the Wreckers Border Morris - After the crowds i retreated to the hills! and sat in nature within a bluebell woodland,as you do,and had the obligatory brew with a view. End photographs: Cawsand fishermen around the late 1800s & The Rising Sun pub,probably during the Great War 1914-1918.Film trailer for 'The last fisherman' A film about Cawsand fisherman Malcolm Baker - I hope you like bluebells... SUMMARY
=======
May Day is a public holiday usually celebrated on 1 May. It is an ancient Northern Hemisphere spring festival and a traditional spring holiday in many cultures. Dances, singing, and cake are usually part of the festivities. In the late 19th century, May Day was chosen as the date for International Workers' Day by the Socialists and Communists of the Second International to commemorate the Haymarket affair in Chicago. International Workers' Day can also be referred to as May Day, but it is a different celebration from the traditional May Day.
