Hiking to The Wave, Arizona / Utah (HD) (GoPro)
The Wave is a sandstone rock formation located in the United States of America near the Arizona–Utah border, on the slopes of the Coyote Buttes, in the Paria Canyon-Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness, on the Colorado Plateau. It is famous among hikers and photographers for its colorful, undulating forms, and the rugged, trackless hike required to reach it.
BLM limits access to the North Coyote Buttes Wilderness Area to just 20 permits per day.[9] Ten of the permits are available in advance by an on-line lottery conducted four months before the month for which the permit is sought. The remaining ten permits are made available by lottery the day before one's intended hike.[10] Year-round the lottery is held at the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument Visitor Center in Kanab, Utah. The lottery for the walk-in permits takes place at 9:00 in the morning
From the Wire Pass Trailhead, The Wave can be reached by hiking approximately 3 miles (4.8 km) across open desert, making the round-trip to and from The Wave nearly 6-mile (9.7 km) climbing about 350 feet (110 m) in altitude.
Temperatures in this area typically climb above 100 °F (38 °C) in the summer, so it is best to start the hike early. Anyone attempting the hike in any season is wise to be prepared for harsh desert conditions, including fierce winds, blowing sand, and no shade.

All music is by Ron Anderson
Mylungpuppy is the channel of musician Ron Anderson.
I have been making avant-music for over forty years in a number of different projects; PAK, The Molecules, RonRuins, numerous collaborations and solo. I combine composition and improvisation exploring the regions where they intersect. Sometimes my music is brutal, but I’m not afraid of melody, in general my work is pretty much out there.
The main focus of my channel is music, but I also make vlogs on various subjects, cycling, touring and traveling, vegan food, rare vinyl LPs, audio field recordings, etc. Because not everyone is going to be interested in all the subjects covered on this channel, I have made playlists so you do not have to search through videos to find what you are looking for.
I try to answer questions and respond to as many comments as I can, any and all feedback from you is welcome.
I'm trying to make at least one or two new videos a week.

Four Corners Monument
---------------------------------
Four Corners Monument is the only place in the nation where you can stand in four states-Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico and Utah-at the same time. Located within a Navajo Tribal Park, the monument bears the seals of each state, along with a brass insert marking the exact meeting point. The Four Corners Monument marks the quadripoint in the Southwestern United States where the states of Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah meet. It is the only point in the United States shared by four states, leading to the area being named the Four Corners region. The monument also marks the boundary between two semi-autonomous Native American governments, the Navajo Nation, which maintains the monument as a tourist attraction, and the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe Reservation.
The origins of the state boundaries marked by the monument occurred just prior to, and during, the American Civil War, when the United States Congress acted to form governments in the area to combat the spread of slavery to the region. When the early territories were formed, their boundaries were designated along meridian and parallel lines. Beginning in the 1860s, these lines were surveyed and marked. These early surveys included some errors, but even so, the markers placed became the legal boundaries, superseding the written descriptions of geographical meridians and parallels. This includes the Four Corners Monument, which has been legally established as the corner of the four states.
Monument Valley
------------------------
Monument Valley or the valley of the rocks is a region of the Colorado Plateau characterized by a cluster of vast sandstone buttes, the largest reaching 1,000 ft (300 m) above the valley floor. It is located on the Arizona–Utah border (around 36°59′N 110°6′WCoordinates: 36°59′N 110°6′W), near the Four Corners area. The valley lies within the territory of the Navajo Nation Reservation and is accessible from U.S. Highway 163.
Monument Valley has been featured in many forms of media since the 1930s. Director John Ford used the location for a number of his best-known films and thus, in the words of critic Keith Phipps, its five square miles [13 square kilometers] have defined what decades of moviegoers think of when they imagine the American West.
Hole N The Rock
-----------------------
Visit Hole N The Rock, a most unique home, carved out of a huge rock in Utah's Canyonlands Country. This historic 5,000 square foot home and unusual gift shop and trading post are open all year. Take a guided tour of the home, and appreciate the rich history within its walls.
Travelers along U.S. Highway 191 in Southwestern Utah are amazed to discover this historic 5,000 square foot home which began taking shape almost a century ago by the Christensen family. What began as a small alcove for the young Christensen boys to sleep in at night grew into a man-made engineering marvel 20years in the making. A fireplace with a 65' chimney, 14 rooms arranged around huge pillars and a deep bathtub built into the rock delight visitors who visit this most unusual home in the dessert.
Original furnishings, Alberta's paintings, Gladys's doll collection and many of the tools used to create this home remind you of the past.
In a 12 year period Albert excavated 50,000 cubic feet of sandstone from the rock. During this time he completed his famous painting Sermon on the Mount and his sculpture of Franklin D. Roosevelt on the face of the rock above his home. When Albert died in 1957, the home was not complete. Gladys's in keeping with his wishes & lifelong dreams continued to develop the property, opening a gift shop and giving tours of her home until she passed away in 1974. Gladys is laid to rest next to Albert in a small cove within the rock near the home.

Red Canyon Utah
Red Canyon in Southern Utah is on the way to Bryce Canyon and 9 miles west of it. There is no entry fee to visit Red Canyon. Red-colored rock formation and Ponderosa pines trees make the Red canyon exceptionally scenic. The rocks in Red Canyon ere composed of red orange sandstone and are eroded into fare tail shapes. It is a lot like Bryce Canyon but in smaller scale. If you are on your way to Bryce Canyon national park take some time to stop by Red Canyon. One to two hours will be enough to take a nice walk in Red canyon and to enjoy it. There are short trails that will take you inside that Red Canyon; it is not overcrowded with visitors.

Zion National Park is one of the most spectacular and unique national parks in the entire United States. With breathtaking views and beautiful steep red cliffs, it truly stands on its own as one of America’s natural treasures. We recently made a stop in Zion on a two week road trip throughout the Western United States, and we were able to try both of the park’s most popular hikes. This guide will give you all you need in order to make your weekend getaway the best it can possibly be.

Utah Badlands, April 2019, Day 3
Southern Utah is well-known for its beautiful geology. It is a remarkable region of canyons, plateaus, desert, arches, mountains, washes, escarpments and wild rock formations. Some would even describe it as “badlands”. Arriving from Arizona, Oregon and Oklahoma, three friends and I would spend six days on an amazing trip to explore the sights, sounds and history of these less traveled places. Day 3 covers our travels from a campsite near Batty Caves to Star Springs Campground in the Henry Mountains, and includes a stop at Devil's Garden along Hole-in-the-Rock Road, and travel through Waterpocket Fold in Capitol Reef National Park along the Burr Trail.
The music is Sky Skating by Geographer. It is available for free use on YouTube videos at the YouTube Audio Library.

Red Canyon , Utah

Paria Canyon/Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness - A Lasting Legacy
In Utah, the spectacular Paria Canyon/Vermillion Cliffs Wilderness Area is about 45 miles east of Kanab. The Wilderness area encompasses 112,000 acres of redrock canyons and upthrust fault mountains.
Coyote Buttes is a Special Management Area of the Paria Canyon/Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness. It has become one of the most popular destinations for many people visiting the Colorado Plateau. It is colorful but fragile Navajo Sandstone slickrock. The attraction is the thin ledges that swirl in wild contours of color and stone that are Coyotte Buttes Northvery brittle and breakable. It has grown as an attraction over the years due to the many published photographs and other media coverage of this small area. Nature has fully used its imagination to converge with the appreciation of our individual minds in all their variety of thought and wonder.
Before highways and railways, before pioneers, even before Columbus...the land we know as the United States was truly a vast wilderness. To protect these last remaining areas, in 1984, Congress created the Paria Canyon/Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness. Coyote Buttes' outstanding scenery, desert wildlife, colorful history, and opportunities for primitive recreation will remain free from the influence of man and are protected in this condition for future generations. Its 112,000 acres beckon adventurers who yearn for solitude, scenic splendor, and the chance to explore one of the most beautiful geologic formations in the world.
