My Luxurious Train Ride On The Rocky Mountaineer
What's better than flying first class? This luxury train service in the Pacific Northwest known as the Rocky Mountaineer. Seems to me like it must be the highest level of service you'd find on a train in North America!
In this video, I take you along with me and my wife for a slightly more than five hour trip from Seattle, Washington to Vancouver, British Columbia in a special rail car that far exceeds the level of service and pampering you'd get on Amtrak.
We boarded at the King Street station in Seattle and headed north on a beautiful route along Puget Sound. The tracks ran right along the water for hours! The views were fantastic and the food, drinks, and level of service provided to the passengers was, too!
This Seattle-Vancouver journey is known as the Coastal Passage, and it's a good alternative for people that can't afford the ultimate Rocky Mountaineer experience: the 2-day journey from Vancouver to Banff.
Some of the points of interest in the video include the Seattle Space Needle, Fairhaven, Bellingham, Surrey, Crescent Beach, and the border between Canada and the United States.
Because we booked the Gold Leaf service rather than the less expensive Silver Leaf class, we rode in a 2-level rail car with a dining room on the bottom level and a glass-domed viewing area on the upper level.
I'll be riding the Rocky Mountaineer again in July of 2020, following an Alaska cruise. If you think you might be interested in coming along with me for that vacation, take a look at for details.

ROCKY MOUNTAINEER - Vancouver to Banff in 4 Minutes!!!
Last year we took the legendary Rocky Mountaineer train from Vancouver to Banff on their classic Passage to the West journey. We've spent 3 years living in Canada, but riding the train through the Rockies was one of the best things we've ever done.
Travelling through the mountains onboard one of the world's most luxurious trains was an incredible experience. We travelled in GoldLeaf Service, the premium class offered by Rocky Mountaineer, and were blown away by the quality of the food, service, hosts and comfort.
If you're looking for a real Canadian bucket list experience, make sure you watch this 4-minute recap of our Rocky Mountaineer review and get out there to book your trip!

All aboard! Today is the first of a two day train journey. We relaxed, ate, saw amazing scenery, ate, slept, ate and learned a lot about the history of Canada. And we ate some more. Aside from overeating….it was such a great day! Ask questions or make comments. Let's travel talk! Sandra.

My Bucket List Trip On The Rocky Mountaineer
The Rocky Mountaineer from Vancouver to Banff... it's the trip of a lifetime for anyone that's fanatic about train travel. Breathtaking views, outstanding service, gourmet food, and passionate hosts with stories to tell! That's what a journey on the Rocky Mountaineer is all about.
Our two day ride through the Rockies of Canada on the Rocky Mountaineer will be the highlight of a six-day land and rail tour of Canada that I'll be doing in July of 2020... and you're invited to come along. It's actually part of an even larger adventure: an 18-day trip through Alaska and Canada, including a 7-day cruise on the Royal Princess cruise ship. But the focus of this video is the third and final leg of that trip, our 6-day Canadian adventure that will take us from Vancouver to Victoria and finally on to Banff. If you like to see a video that focuses on the other two legs of our big adventure, including the cruise, take a look at

The main featured spots in the video are:
Town of Banff and surrounding area, Lake Louise, Town of Golden and surrounding area, Johnston Canyon etc...
The Town of Banff was the first municipality to incorporate within a Canadian national park. It is a resort town and one of Canada's most popular tourist destinations, known for its mountainous surroundings and hot springs. It is a destination for outdoor sports and features extensive hiking, biking and skiing.
Lake Louise is a glacial lake within Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada. Fairmont's Chateau Lake Louise, one of Canada's grand railway hotels, is located on Lake Louise's eastern shore. It is a luxury resort hotel built in the early decades of the 20th century by the Canadian Pacific Railway.
Johnston Creek is a tributary of the Bow River in Canada's Rocky Mountains. The creek is located in Banff National Park. A popular hiking trail follows the canyon and leads to a meadow within the Johnston Valley above the canyon. The first part of the trail consists of a constructed walkway with safety rails and bridges, while the last part of the trail is natural and more rugged.
I've had a great time visiting Northern Lights Wildlife Wolf Centre in the vicinity of the town of Golden. This wolf sanctuary and it's instructors, armed with their wealth of knowledge, give the centre's visitors a true depiction of these majestic and reclusive creatures.
I've also had the pleasure of spending the night at the Mount 7 Lodges near golden BC. The hosts were splendid as well as the accommodation. The views...spectacular!
Unfortunately, the weather during the time of the shoot was less than perfect with extended periods of cloudiness and rain. However, even under those conditions, a visit is highly recommended!
