The Roman Bath House site in Prestatyn
As part of our film on the heritage of Prestatyn and Meliden we look at one of Denbighshire's best kept secrets - the Roman Bath House site in Melyd Avenue, Prestatyn. We interviewed Fiona Gale, Denbighshire's County Archeaologist who tells us the history of the site and its importance to the Romans. Also, it was great to have Paul and Cellan from Park in the Past to portray a typical Roman soldier and how the bath house was used by the Romans. They are undertaking a fascinating project in Hope where they are planning to build a Roman fort on land that was once used for quarrying. Check out their website: parkinthepast.org.uk
Here is an excerpt from the film.
Tour of the Roman Baths in Bath, UK, England in HD 1080p
The Roman Baths complex is a site of historical interest in the English city of Bath. The house is a well-preserved Roman site for public bathing.
The Roman Baths themselves are below the modern street level. There are four main features: the Sacred Spring, the Roman Temple, the Roman Bath House and the Museum holding finds from Roman Bath. The buildings above street level date from the 19th century.
The Baths are a major tourist attraction and, together with the Grand Pump Room, receive more than one million visitors a year,[1] with 1,037,518 people during 2009.[2] It was featured on the 2005 TV program Seven Natural Wonders as one of the wonders of the West Country. Visitors can see the Baths and Museum but cannot enter the water. An audio guide is available in several languages.
ROMAN BATH - SOMEWHERE IN LINCOLNSHIRE - UK
This is a natural spring that was actually used by the Romans when they were in Britain many centuries ago, and they used it as a bath. At the bottom of the bathing area is a mosaic on the floor, but you cannot see it in the vid as the light relfects into the camera lens. The spring is still used, but now assists the supply of water to a local water treatment works.

The Romans Return To Prestatyn May 2014
Locals and Tourists turned out to enjoy a wonderfully sunny day on Bastion Rd Fields and also being transported by a wonderful Routemaster London bus, via our vibrant High street to the Prestatyn bath house, where Denbighshire county archaeologist Fiona was giving tours with Marcus the Roman guide.
Lots of local community organisations and volunteers came together and worked hard to make the day fantastic.
We are proud to have been involved in helping promote our wonderful town. The children and parents loved our art and craft activities and all of the other fantastic things on offer.

My name is Zahi Shaked
In 2000 I became a registered liscenced tourist guide.
My dedication in life is to pass on the ancient history of the Holy Land.
Following upon many years of travel around the world, which was highlighted by a very exciting emotional and soul-searching meeting with the Dalai Lama, I realized that I had a mission. To pass on the the history of the Holy Land, its religions, and in particular, the birth and development of Christianity.
In order to fulfill this calling in the best way possible, I studied in depth, visited, and personally experienced each and every important site of the ancient Christians. I studied for and received my first bachelors degree in the ancient history of the Holy Land, and am presently completing my studies for my second degree.(Masters)
Parralel to my studies, and in order to earn a living, I was employed for many years in advertising. What I learned there was how to attract the publics attention, generate and, increase interest, and assimilate information. All this I use as tools to describe, explain and deepen the interest in the sites that we visit. From my experience, I have learned that in this way, the Holy Land becomes more than just history, and that the large stones that we see scattered about in dissaray, join together one by one until they become - a Byzantine Church. This also happens when I lead a group of Pilgrims in the Steps of Jesus. We climb to the peak of Mount Precipice, glide over the land to the Sea of Galilee, land on the water and see the miracle which enfolds before us. This is a many faceted experience. Not only history which you will remember and cherish, but an experience which I hope will be inplanted in your hearts and minds, and will accompany you all the days of your life.
Welsh Roman Baths
The recently uncovered Roman Baths at Caerlon in the Wye Valley, Vale of Usk were built in 85AD but not discovered until 1965. The water supply is cut off over 1000 yrs. ago, so they use this video projected from overhead onto the sand-covered bath's bottom - this is a huge projection, over 40 by 80' and runs on a continuous 10 loop.
Prestatyn Dyserth Railway (Ghost) Walk
Finally happened. Some interesting photos for you to inspect. I really hope you enjoy.

The Royal Crescent in Bath may be one of Britain's finest structures - but that doesn't deter Tony Robinson, Mick Aston and the rest of the team from digging it up.
Round the back should be a Roman cemetery and at the front should be the Fosse Way.
Hours of torrential rain and an unexpected Victorian church cellar don't make life easier, but by day three they unveil Roman skeletons and a Roman road... even if neither is in quite the right place.
[4K] MARGATE KENT, UK WALK (2019) - Dreamland to Turner Gallery
A walk through the British coastal town of Margate, home town to artists JMW Turner & Tracey Emin. Recently its gained a reputation as an artistic and hip place to move to - earning the nickname Shoreditch on sea. But there's so much more here than great coffee shops.
We start near Dreamland - the renovated, retro theme park and concert venue, and pass beaches and old town markets to the Turner Contemporary Gallery and the curve of Margate's pier and harbour.
How do we afford to travel so often? We're lucky enough to stay for almost free in every city, using

Stonehenge and Roman Baths Day Tour from London | 2019 December | Vlog #1
United Kingdom's most incredible sites with a day trip to Stonehenge, and Bath from London. This a complete tour visual guide which might help you if you are planning to visit these spectacular sites.
Reason for not adding Windsor Castle to this list is it is more relaxing and have more time to explore Bath City.
Booked our tickets for the tour through Golden Tours two days before the tour day.
Use the below link to directly access the booking page
This is not the cheapest method but the most easiest, safest and hassle free way unless you own a private vehicle.
There are lot of other sites who offer Stonehenge and Bath tours but this is the most reliable tour site we found on internet.
Booked the Stonehenge and Bath complete tour with meal and entrance tickets to both sites which cost around 80GBP per person (40GBP worth tickets included)
The meal is not as good as we thought. Just a burger and some chips. Better if you can bring your own meal but make sure you don't eat it on-board. That's a precise warning. They don't like to get there coaches dirty and smelly :D
Apart of that the tour was well organized and 5 star. Our guide for the day was Mr.Saul was a fine and very informative nice guy. The journey started around 8.30 am and arrived our 1st stop at Wiltshire at about 10.30 am. It was sunny and chilling. What a perfect weather condition for site-seeing. Stonehenge was built about 5,000 years ago, and the unique stone circle was erected in the late Neolithic period about 2500 BC. In the early Bronze Age many burial mounds were built nearby.

There is a 5 minute transit to Stonehenge. On the way back to vehicle park there are few other things to see like Neolithic Houses furnished with replica Neolithic axes, pottery and other artifacts, the replica of Sarsens the largest stone and the exhibition center.
Then continued to our destination 'The city of Bath'.
The first view of the city was Fabulous!
The city built by Romans in the 1st century AD. The City of Bath is of Outstanding Universal Value for the following cultural attributes: The Roman remains, especially the Temple of Sulis Minerva and the baths complex (based around the hot springs at the heart of the Roman town of Aquae Sulis, which have remained at the heart of the City’s development ever since) are amongst the most famous and important Roman remains north of the Alps, and marked the beginning of Bath’s history as a spa town.
Visit Bath complex first and then you are free to roam the city. It was bit busy as the dawn of Christmas and the streets were packed with amazing stalls and people.
Don't forget to spend sometime at the park in front of Bath Abbey .

Time Team - Season 11, Episode 2 - A Roman Bath House And Edwardian Folly (Whitestaunton, Somerset)
Whitestaunton is the site of a 130 year old mystery. The Victorian owners of the site unearthed ruins that suggested an old Roman Villa existed on the site. Recent re-investigation suggests the building is not a Villa, which begs the question, what is it?
