Lunch at Rose & Crown – Mayfair, London
In this video, we are having lunch at Rose & Crown located at 2 Old Park Lane, Mayfair, London, W1K 1QN. From their website, “Our pub was once used as the living quarters for Oliver Cromwell's bodyguards. It was originally named 'The Oliver Cromwell' and remained so from 1643 to 1678. The pub was then renamed 'The Rose & Crown' and has traded ever since under that sign which consists of a royal crown surmounting a Tudor rose, symbolising the union of the houses of Lancaster and York.”
* Kevin ordered TAYLOR WALKER STEAK & ALE PIE: A British classic with a Taylor Walker twist! 100% British beef, slow-cooked in our rich 1730 pale ale gravy encased in crisp pastry. Served with mashed potatoes, fresh seasonal vegetables and a jug of gravy.
* Tami ordered COD & CHIPS: hand-battered chunky cod fillet, served with chips, your choice of mushy or garden peas and tartare sauce.

The Royal Vauxhall Tavern NEEDS YOU! Public Consultation: 21 June - 1 July 2016
RVT Future needs you to submit evidence to Lambeth Council’s public consultation on our application for 'sui generis'.
The Grade II listing we fought for last year protects the Royal Vauxhall Tavern building, but not its use. The scope of the current council classification for the building would potentially allow the RVT to be sold and converted into an All Bar One or a Wetherspoons.
RVT Future have applied to Lambeth Council for another layer of protection that would unequivocally specify the RVT’s use as an LGBTQ performance venue. Lambeth Council began a public consultation that will end on Friday 1 July. They are looking for evidence of the Royal Vauxhall Tavern’s continuous use, for at least the last ten years, as an LGBTQ pub and performance space.
We need at least one piece of evidence for each month since February 2006 (though older proof is helpful too).
We need to hear from punters, promoters and performers who can testify to the Tavern’s use as a performance space. We want evidence of as many shows as possible over the years. Best of all would be contracts or emails confirming you hired the venue, were paid to perform there or tickets/receipts for events that included performance.
We urgently need the following:
Tickets / stubs for shows
listings
press articles
experiences and testimonies – from performers and punters
photos of shows
videography
ticket receipts
flyers and promotional materials
personal stories backed up with data…
…anything that can we date to a particular month in this ten year period.
Please email your evidence, along with an explanation of your involvement with the Royal Vauxhall Tavern to Rowena Folkes at Lambeth Council – RFolkes@lambeth.gov.uk and make sure you CC in hello@rvt.community before midday on Friday 1 July.
This case number should be included with all submissions: 16/02418/LDCE
Remember, this is a public consultation – so any evidence you submit will be within the public domain.
Together we can create a definitive record of what we all know to be true – that for the last decade and beyond, the Royal Vauxhall Tavern has been a fabulous, sweaty, culturally important performance venue and home to the LGBTQ community and its friends, and it deserves to be so far into the future.

Curiosity Pub
(1959)
Northchapel, West Sussex.
L/S of a country house with a big car park at the front. A couple waking towards its doors. There are no signs on the house, but the voiceover tells that this is a country inn. L/S of the pub's interior as the couple come in. There are several people sitting and drinking. Camera tilts up to show the pub's ceiling. There are thousands of cards and paper money (most likely foreign) hanging from it. C/U shot of the couple looking at the ceiling.
M/S of two men, one is drinking 'yard of Ale', another looks at him with a smile. C/U shot of the man spilling more then he actually drinks - he looks terrible. His face is all red, his eyes are pumped out and his face and his clothes are wet. M/S of an elderly man smoking huge pipe. He is the pub's 'oldest inhabitant', 86 years old Mr Walter Fullick.
There are all sorts of things hanging from the pub's walls. Japanese traditional shoes, leopard's skin, several pipes, swords, knives, stuffed squirrel, guns, shotguns, 'crazy signposts', crash helmets, hats, sign reading Deutsche Wehrmacht next to the Home Guard sign, pictures - over three thousands items - claims the voiceover.
Actually, one of the few serious aspects of the strange decor, is the wood carving done by the Pub's landlord, Mr Eric Sinclair. M/S of Mr Sinclair carving a plaque depicting the front of the pub. Sometimes he does the customers, informs the voiceover.

Highlights of Part 9 video - The Thames Path I’ve walk in 2011 UK Made By Huggie Huggie2love
Highlights of Part 9 video a Follow up from Highlights of Part 8 Video of The Thames Path I’ve walk in 2011, a National Trail footpath running for 180 miles along the banks of the river Thames. Starting at the Thames Flood Barrier at Woolwich in South East London it runs along the banks of the Thames to Kemble in Gloucestershire. Hope you like and enjoy this new video of the Highlights of Part 9 Follow up from Highlights of Part 8 Video of The Thames Path. I’d be coming from. attractive market town of Abingdon on River Thames.

Port Meadow. Godstow Abbey Ruins. Godstow Lock. Trouth Inn. Lower Wolvercote.
Part 9 Video – will be a Follow up from Highlights of Part 8 Video I’d be coming from. Attractive market town of Abingdon on River Thames. The walk from Abingdon to Oxford, This walk starts in the market town of Abingdon and after crossing the abbey stream, the river runs through open countryside for several miles, passing close to Radley, to the beautiful village of Sandford-on-Thames. Here the path is on the island by the lock briefly before returning to the bank to pass through picturesque Iffley Lock and on to the stunning city of Oxford, the last major town on the Thames from London to the source.
Oxford ‘the city of dreaming spires’ after the stunning architecture of these university buildings. Two rivers run through Oxford, the Cherwell and the Thames (Isis), and it is from this riverside situation that Oxford got its name in Saxon times, ‘Oxenaforda’ or ‘Ford of the Oxen’. In the 10th century Oxford became an important frontier town between the kingdoms of Mercia and Wessex and was also strategically important to the Normans who in 1071 built a castle there, first in timber and later in the 11th century, in stone. Oxford Castle played an important part in The Anarchy in 1142 when Matilda was imprisoned there, and later, like many other castles, was mostly destroyed during the English Civil War.
The most famous sight of all is Oxford’s spectacular skyline, perhaps best viewed from the tower 0f St Mary’ the Virgin in High Street. The 62m tower dates from the 13th century. And is well worth the climb of 124 steps tp make it to the top to enjoy fine uninterrupted views in all directions across Oxford and the surrounding countryside.
The walk from Oxford to Northmoor The stunning city of Oxford is the start point for this walk, the last city on the path to the source, and one that is well worth taking a look round. From here to the source the path is now very rural, passing through only a couple of small towns. The rural feel starts almost immediatly from Oxford where the path goes through open meadows, past the reamins of Godstow Abbey, after which the Thames becomes noticeably thinner as it twists round the many corners, on the way to Swinford, with its lovely bridge.
My next Part 10 Video – will be a Follow up from Highlights of Part 9 Video I’d be coming from Trouth Inn pub. Lower Wolvercote. On to Kings Lock. From here to the source of the river Thames the path is now very rural, where the path goes through open meadows, after which the Thames becomes noticeably thinner as it twists round the many corners, on the way to on to Eynsham Lock. And Swinford, with its lovely bridge.
This walk continues from Swinford on to Pinkhill Lock.... Where there a one mile diversion off the Thames Path through beautiful sheep farms On to the Ferry man inn pub at Bablock Hythe. Then the walk takes me on to Northmoor Lock with the village a mile or two inland. The walk from Northmoor to Harths Footbridge Bridge, is very rural. This walk is the first on the Thames path that doesn't pass through any significant towns. just off the path it pases under Newbridge, in fact one of the oldest bridges on the Thames, dating from the 13th Century. path it pases under Newbridge Bridge to Picturesque 17th-century Rose Revived pub alongside the river Thames...
I do hope you like and enjoy this new video. Thank you so much for your kind words and great comments on all my Thames Path video My dear ◆ friends ◆ and also I want to Thank you so much for your great support and I am so glad you enjoyed watching my videos
Much love Hugs from Huggie xoxo

Pub at the Pilgrim's Inn, Canterbury, Kent, England
English pub singalong
I've never seen the like. A West London pub on a Sunday night with a sort of open mic night, except there were no mics, just June on her piano, the same as every Sunday since the Blitz (she used to perform in bomb shelters to keep people's spirits up). Audience participation was all part of the fun; here, a wonderful chap leads the chorus in that old classic, I'm 'Enery The Eighth I Am. I really want to go back but fear it's one of those things you only get to experince once in a lifetime.

London walk: Sunset in the City - Bank, Cheesegrater, Leadenhall, Lloyd’s, Sculptures, Walkie Talkie
Walk duration: 30 minutes
Join me on this sunset walk taking a circular walk through the heart of the City of London as people wind down in the eating and drinking establishments (ie pubs!) amongst the sky scrapers, frequent churches and Sculpture in the City installations. We start (and finish) at Bank Underground station with a view towards Cheapside, turning quickly to see the Bank of England and then Royal Exchange (currently being renovated). I reject Threadneedle Street choosing instead Cornhill, passing numerous former banking and insurance buildings now converted into pubs and restaurants. After seeing the Cornhill Fountain on the left of Cornhill, I cross Gracechurch Street and Bishopsgate to head along Leadenhall Street but not before taking a long look at the ‘Cheesegrater’ sky scraper. I absolutely can’t resist a nosey around Leadenhall Market which contains two sculptures from the Sculpture in the City collection. Exiting Leadenhall Market I find another Sculpture in the City installation before heading along Lime Street to the iconic Lloyd’s Building, but not before getting a good view of the Gherkin plus a close-up of the ground floor of the Cheesegrater (can’t get enough of those sky scrapers!). From there I head towards another Sculpture in the City installation named ‘Botanic’ which was my favourite at Fenchurch Lane before crossing Fenchurch Street into Mark Lane and a quick peek towards Fenchurch Station, all under the gaze of the Walkie Talkie. At the end of Mark Lane we see the beautifully named ‘Hung, drawn and quartered’ pub as I choose between turning left towards the Tower of London or right along Great Tower Street towards Monument and London Bridge. I choose right, partly because the Tower of London will be covered in another walk and partly because the sun had started getting quite low in the sky. As we reach Eastcheap, views of the Shard appear to our left while to our right we enjoy a close-up view of the Walkie Talkie. The Great Fire of London is commemorated at Monument where we view the column along Fish Street Hill, one street along from Pudding Lane where the fire originally started. I cross Gracechurch Street a second time before coming to Monument Underground Station which has views south to London Bridge before turning into King William Street and finally arriving back at Bank Tube Station, just after passing Clements Lane as made famous by the Bells of St Clements in the nursery rhyme Oranges and Lemons.
I worked in the City of London for many years and still absolutely adore the mix of architecture in the Square Mile. I love that a church sits right next to a sky scraper at so many points on this route. Plus of course the Sculpture in the City installations, especially that ‘Botanicals’ one.
