Ardmore Round Tower & St Declan's Church
On a hill above the village of Ardmore in Co Waterford is a well-preserved 30-m-high, 12th-century round tower and the ruins of a Cathedral and oratory dating from the 13th and 8th centuries respectively.
One of the outer walls of the Cathedral features some stone carvings retrieved from an earlier 9th-century building. The carvings include a very early image of a harp, images of Adam and Eve in the garden and a representation of Solomon's judgement. The Cathedral also contains two Ogham stones, which rest in small alcoves.
Some elements of the original structure can still be seen within the building.
ley lines, an Irish Round tower
Ley lines and an Irish round Tower - how the monks may have used these 1400 year old resonating towers to attract certain energies from their burial grounds. Also cup marks or petroglyphs, leys in the USA and Edinburgh, four volcanic plugs in line with the strange Electric Brae in Ayrshire, the 1500 year old Fortingall yew tree and spirals of energies from graves. Burial grounds across Scotland aligned to volcanic plugs adorned with castles

DJI - Round tower @ Meelick , Swinford , County Mayo
Aerial Photography Mayo
Meelick Round Tower is located in Swinford, co. Mayo. It was built between 923 and 1013 a.d on a monastic site attributed to St. Broccaidh and the area was once the principal abbey in the Barony of Gallen. It is one of five round towers in the county and stands 66 feet high with the doorway at 11 feet above ground level. The tower was restored in 1880 (as was the nearby Turlough Round Tower) however the conical cap is still missing. There is an early gravestone, with crudely interlaced cross and border bearing an Irish inscription dating from the 10th or 11th century situated at the foot of the tower. The tombstone bears the inscription which translates to ‘A prayer for Grigour’. Nice views of the surrounding countryside.

the Round Tower, Glendalough, Ireland
This fine tower, built of mica-slate interspersed with granite is about 30 metres high, with an entrance 3.5 metres from the base. The conical roof was rebuilt in 1876 using the original stones. The tower originally had six timber floors, connected by ladders. The four storeys above entrance level are each lit by a small window; while the top storey has four windows facing the cardinal compass points. Round towers, landmarks for approaching visitors, were built as bell towers, but also served on occasion as store-houses and as places of refuge in times of attack.
