Kyrenia, is a city on the northern coast of Cyprus, noted for its historic harbour and castle. It is under the de facto control of Northern Cyprus.
Kyrenia Castle at the east end of the old harbour is a spectacular site. The castle dates back to Byzantine times and has served the Byzantines, Crusaders, Venetians, Ottomans, and British. Within its walls there is a 12th-century chapel containing reused late Roman capitols, and a shipwreck museum. Huge round towers that the Venetians built in 1540 occupy the corners. These strengthened the castle against artillery.

The Round Tower, 1987 yılında geçirdiği restorasyonun ardından sanat galerisi olarak hizmet vermektedir.

La Couvertoirade - Templar City
LE CHEMIN DE RONDE. La Couvertoirade is a medieval fortified village located at the confines of the Larzac plateau. The village has played an important role in this part of the Midi-Pyrenees since the 13th century when the castle was built by a chapter of the medieval Knights Templar located here which played a key role in the development of La Couvertoirade.
By the 15th century the village was in the hands of the Hospitaliers who took over the Templar when they were banned in 1312. The Knights of Saint John of Jerusalem built the ramparts between 1439 and 1450, and La Couvertoirade continued to be an important local center until the 17th century. The ramparts and the incorporated towers, some square and some round, still encircle the city.
Although the castle was constructed by the Templar Knights at the end of the 12th century, the Saint-Christophe church dates was built by the Hospitaliers Knights in the 14th century opposite the castle. Take a look at the church cemetery which is cut in two by the fortifications that were built subsequently - part of the cemetery is inside the walls and part outside. The small cemetery is certainly one of the interesting sites of the city with is steles discoidal. The stone crosses craved with Templar signs mark old graves forgotten in the soil.
The remainder of La Couvertoirade and the fortifications were then built a few decades later. The walk around the top of the ramparts is unmissable for views it provides both across the rooftops of the city and the countryside. You can access the walk, called Le Chemin de Ronde, via one of the grandest houses in the village. This is the 15th century Maison de la Scipione, built against the ramparts and once home to an important nobleman.
Back down in the village itself there are numerous very picturesque stone houses date from the 15th to 17th centuries. One particular feature you will see as you explore the village within the walls is the number of houses that have an external stone staircase leading to the first floor, originally used for habitation, while the ground floor was kept for livestock.
La Couvertoirade is one of the most beautiful village in France (un des plus beaux villages) and it is one of the finest medieval fortified villages that can be found in this country.

Khirokitia Neolithic Settlement Larnaka District Cyprus Historical
Khirokitia Neolithic Settlement Larnaka District Cyprus Historical
Located in the District of Larnaka, about 6 km from the southern coast of Cyprus, the Neolithic settlement of Choirokoitia lies on the slopes of a hill partly enclosed in a loop of the
Maroni River. Occupied from the 7th to the 5th millennium B.C., the village covers an area of approximately 3 ha at its maximum extent and is one of the most important prehistoric
sites in the eastern Mediterranean. It represents the Aceramic Neolithic of Cyprus at its peak, that is the success of the first human occupation of the island by farmers coming from
the Near East mainland around the beginning of 9th millennium.Excavations have shown that the settlement consisted of circular houses built from mudbrick and stone with flat roofs
and that it was protected by successive walls. A complex architectural system providing access to the village has been uncovered on the top of the hill. The achievement of such an
impressive construction, built according to a preconceived plan, expresses an important collective effort, with few known parallels in the Near East, and suggests a structured social
organisation able to construct and maintain works of a large scale for the common good. A house consisted of several circular buildings equipped with hearths and basins arranged
around a small courtyard where domestic activities took place. The houses belonged to the living, as well as to the dead who were buried in pits beneath the rammed earthen floors.
Among the finds such as flint tools, bone tools, stone vessels, vegetal and animal remains, noteworthy are the anthropomorphic figurines in stone (one in clay), which point, together with
funerary rituals, to the existence of elaborate beliefs.

The St Barnabas monastery and Icon museum is situated close to the Royal Tombs between Tuzla and Salamis. The site consists of a church, now serving as an icon museum, the monastery, now housing an archaeological collection, and a chapel housing the remains of the saint.
St Barnabas was one of the founders of the independent Greek Orthodox church, and is the patron saint of Cyprus. He, was born in Salamis to a Jewish family of the Levi clan, (the Levites from which the priests of the temple in Jerusalem were chosen), who had emigrated from Syria to Cyprus. He was originally called Sosis, a variant of Joseph.

16th March 2013 - Playground Session
Been thinking about how when I was young, I used to love to play. To move. To jump and climb around and pretend that the floor was lava. I didn't care about repetitions or whether what I'm doing will affect my physique. I just wanted to move. Just pure, plain, happy movement. So I've decided to add another element to my movement sessions from now on. Fun. Here's a recent video of my moments of happy movements. :D

Ancient Ruins of Salamis,
Salamis (Ancient Greek: Σαλαμίς) is an ancient Greek city-state on the east coast of Cyprus, at the mouth of the river Pedieos, 6 km north of modern Famagusta. According to tradition the founder of Salamis was Teucer, son of Telamon, who could not return home after the Trojan war because he had failed to avenge his brother Ajax.
