British Railways 4-6-2, 70000 Britannia at Lostock Hall with the Royal Train, 24th January 2012
(Jump to 1.36 if you want to see Britannia in daylight - well almost! Nice whistle too.)
6.15am, dark and very wet. Britannia arrives and my cam's not on its tripod. Shaky, night view footage (which just wouldn't focus) of Britannia arriving at Lostock Hall triangle and then reversing towards Preston. You can just about see the white cab roof if not the number!
8.15am, less dark and less wet. Britannia makes a fine sight hauling the Royal Train through Lostock Hall station en route to a re-naming ceremony at Wakefield, courtesy of the Prince of Wales. February 2012 marks the 60th anniversary of Britannia hauling the Funeral Train for King George VI, hence the white cab roof apparently.

Frinton-on-Sea Essex HRH THE DUKE OF WINDSOR + GERALD 6TH DUKE OF SUTHERLAND Royal Family Identity
ROYAL FAMILY MEDIA CENTRE DSMA-NOTICE NEWS MEDIA BLACKOUT:
MAINSTREAM NEWS MEDIA EXTRACTS: I
British Royal Family well seasoned commentators are believed to have recently remarked that the genesis of the Gerald 6th Duke of Sutherland identity theft scandal lies in the forging of the birth certificate which effectively brought about a wide cadre of public figures who took advantage following the death of his mother and father respectively HRH The Princess Marina Duchess of Kent and George 5th Duke of Sutherland later HRH Prince Edward Duke of Windsor and Sir Winston S. Churchill both godfathers to Gerald 6th Duke of Sutherland during the formative years.
MAINSTREAM NEWS MEDIA EXTRACTS: II
The Carroll Foundation Charitable Trust and parallel Gerald 6th Duke of Sutherland Trust multi-billion dollar corporate identity theft case has revealed that the explosive Scotland Yard criminal “standard of proof” prosecution files contain a forensic evidential paper trail surrounding the fraudulent incorporation of HRH Charles Prince of Wales and Gerald Carroll Trusts companies which were specifically incorporated to impulse this massive City of London bank fraud heist spanning the globe.
UK Companies House “leaked” source have disclosed that the Prince’s Trust and Gerald Carroll Trusts fraudulent “dummy companies” which are named in the dossiers include the PYBT Development Fund (Northern) Ltd and the Prince’s Youth Business Trust (Southern) Ltd. Sources have said that the Prince Charles Gerald Carroll Trusts organisations focused on the major funding of young entrepreneurs within the much needed manufacturing industrial sector of the British economy.
Further sources have said that the priceless Carroll Foundation Trust trophies have also been named in the files concerning the theft of the entire collection which had a three million dollar valuation. It is understood that the trophies were a “central feature” in the wide ranging management of the Gerald Carroll Trusts good causes which involved the HM Queen Elizabeth II HRH Prince Edward Duke of Kent and HRH Charles Prince of Wales patronages.
Scotland Yard leaked sources have said that files are “centered around” the Red Cross the Royal Society of Portrait Painters the Royal Air Force Association the Royal Air Force Benevolent the Prince’s Trust the world renowned Carroll Chair of Irish History attached to Hertford College Oxford University and the Carroll House Annapolis Maryland Trust to name but a few.
In a stunning twist it has emerged that Sir Tom Shebbeare the former comptroller of the Prince’s Trust and HRH Charles Prince of Wales charities has been named as an “expert witness” concerning these shocking revelations in the Gerald Carroll Trusts debacle.
The Carroll Foundation Trust files are held within a complete lockdown at the FBI Washington DC field office and the Metropolitan Police Service Scotland Yard London under the supervision of the Commissioner Cressida Dick QPM who has an intimate knowledge of this major case of international importance.

Frinton-on-Sea is a small seaside town in the Tendring District of Essex England forming part of the Parish of Frinton and Walton. In the 1890′s the original developer of the town Peter Bruff was bought out by R Powell Cooper who had already laid out the golf course. Powell Cooper rejected Bruff’s plans for a pier and stipulated the quality of housing to be built which prohibited boarding houses and pubs. The Sea Defence Act 1903 established a project to stabilise the cliffs with the greensward which separates the esplanade from the sea.
Frinton has attracted visitors from high society with a lido complete with palm trees shopping with Connaught Avenue named after HRH The Duke of Connaught and opened by his wife dubbed East Anglia’s Bond Street high class hotels the esplanade and a tennis tournament second only to Wimbledon. HRH Edward VIII with Mrs Simpson frequented the golf club with the Duke of Sutherland and Winston Churchill rented a house.
Frinton was the last target in England attacked by the Luftwaffe in 1944.

The 3rd October Alton to Canterbury Cathedrals Express - with 70000 Britannia
The build-up to this excursion was somewhat shrouded in mystery. Even as the empty stock was leaving Southall, on the Wednesday, there was no confirmation on the internet as to which loco would be pulling it. Fortunately, the stock was booked to pass through our local station, so all we had to do was nip round the corner to confirm that 70000 Britannia would be doing the honours.
The next day, we were down in Hampshire by 8am, with one camera on the London side of Bentley, and the other by the level crossing at Farnham.
Having regrouped at Farnham, we headed for Staines, and the foot crossing at the end of the carriage sidings.
While Britannia crossed London (via Willesden), we moved on to the up platform at Dunton Green.
From Dunton Green, we had planned to go to Headcorn, where 70000 would be taking water, but, with insufficient time, we went instead to a foot crossing near Chartham. This proved to be a good move, as there appeared to be a clearance issue with the bridge at the foot of the sharp climb to Chartham.
The servicing at Canterbury West saw the only significant rain in a day that had been forecast as very wet.
For the homeward journey, we started at Martin Mill station. Normally, one can hear an approaching train a long way off as it climbs the bank from Deal, but we didn't hear anything until moments before Britannia came into sight. Strange that we couldn't hear the class 33 either, if it was the 33 doing the work.
Dodging in and out of the seemingly endless stream of Polish lorries on the M20, we made it to Sandling in time to catch Britannia emerging from Saltwood Tunnel, and passing through the station.
Driving back round the M25, we made for Mortlake for one last shot (we could have done more, but both the spirit and the flesh were weak).
