Walking Along The Royal Terrace Gardens - The Rock Walk - Torquay, Devon - Holiday Vlog Diary
The Royal Terrace Gardens, known locally as Rock Walk, are situated beneath the towering cliff of Waldon Hill, which overlooks the sea front, and is one of the Wonders of Torquay.
Rock Walk is a network of paths with Mediterranean planting throughout. Also from here, you are greeted to magnificent views of the princess, the Harbour and as far away as Berry Head.
In 2007 a three year project to improve Royal Terrace Gardens started. The Royal Terrace Gardens are built into the side of a sea cliff, with reclaimed land at its base. Much of the steep slopes of the gardens were covered in vegetation, but the distinctive pink bedrock remained in places. Most of the trees and vegetation was taken away and clear paths were cut into the cliff face. The grand opening was on 3 October 2010 during the Royal Terrace Gardens festival. It was a £3 million project and involved Ginkgo design team, Dawnus contractors and artist Juliet Haysom was commissioned to produce rock sculptures. The rock sculptures were made with two materials: white Carrara Marble, sourced from North- West Italy, and pink/grey Devon limestone from Stoneycombe, Devon.

Thatchers Rock is the biggest of the 'Rock Islands' off Torquay. It stands nearly 45m high, and is just under 200m from the end of Meadfoot Beach nearest Thatchers Point, where undoubtably it was once attached. Due to the strong tidal flows in the area, the current loving marine life is more abundant here than in many of the sheltered bays.

Exploring Beautiful Seafront Garden - Torquay, England - Abbey Park - Slice of Life - Vlog Diary
We came to Torquay to visit our family, since they have a business here. We were just out walking in the peaceful morning with our puppy to explore the local area and then we came accross this beautiful peace garden near the seafront. What a wonderful place to live near.
Torquay is a seaside resort town on the English Channel in Devon, south west England. Known for beaches such as Babbacombe and cliffside Oddicombe, its coastline is nicknamed the English Riviera. Torquay Harbour near the town centre offers shops, cafes and a marina. Torre Abbey - Enjoy Torbay
With so many beautiful green spaces in Torbay, some with fantastic coastal views, to relax you really are spoilt for choice! We're taking a birds eye view of some of our favourites.
Abbey Park and Meadows is on Torquay Seafront. The meadow is a large open space used by all for events, games and picnics. The park itself is host to a range of activities, such as tennis and crazy golf; it also houses the Italian Gardens with its attractive pond with fountain and water rock garden. It is a well loved place enjoyed by locals and visitors alike.
