5. SOUNDBITE: (English) Giles Scott, Co-founder of Ulpotha :
I met a yoga teacher, the yoga teacher decided to come and bring a group and we thought 'wow, this a great idea'. And the yoga group came and it was a great success. The villagers loved it, we loved it, the people who came loved it, and we realised that that's the way to do it. So now we open it for just under twenty weeks a year and that's enough to fund the village for the rest of the year.

The village people decide what to do, there is a committee of seven here. They make up their minds as to how it should be run, and everybody's responsible for an area they have. For instance the person who is probably looking after your hut, he's not been told you need to do this, you need to make a bed like this, you need to do it in this certain way. He's told these people are your responsibility, this side's your responsibility, go for it, do it whatever way you want.

15. SOUNDBITE: (English) Rachel Wood, Guest at Ulpotha :
For so many of us there is so much to do in the average day that it's quite hard to sit back and relax. Something like this effectively forces you to relax, you just have to sit back here because the pace of life dictates that and I think that is just something that really you don't experience normally, it's something that money can't buy.

18. SOUNDBITE: (English) Lawrence Wallen, Guest at Ulpotha :
Doing nothing. Well, ok, you're doing yoga, you're in the treatments and doing nothing. Doing nothing is probably the primary goal, which is diametrically opposed to what one does in one's daily life.

When they come really, the main problem which they have is the stress and anxiety-like things in the city life and their busy works. So in that case when they come, at the beginning they feel very fiery and they are not relaxed. But especially when I talk about our treatment I would say our signature treatment is ten days treatment with the purgation. And I have good experience with that treatment, they feel very relaxed and they feel very calm and finally they come to balance.

WTF - At The Barber’s.
What - DUNSTANS Barbers
Where - G13, Crescat Boulevard
Who - Daniel
Today on WTF, we took male grooming to an old school style. WTF made a visit to Dunstans who are located at Crescat. You know how Sri Lankan men are; going to a salon is not manly enough so now there is a professional men’s grooming solution and that’s Dunstans. It will help all our Sri Lankan men face up to and overcome any of life’s obstacles.
Speaking to Ruwan Weerawardana, who is one of the partners of this brand, he says DUNSTANS was an idea that Sujan came up with and we had been tossing it around for a few years, but didn't quite know how to proceed until we found the correct expertise (which neither of us had). While the ladies have numerous options of beauty salons, hairdressers and stylists to whom they could go, the men who didn't quite fit in to the unisex environment, but wanting a more personalised and exclusive service than what is offered by the scores of (considerably good) street barbers, didn't have an option. Hence, we felt it was timely to create a sanctuary for gentlemen, a club of sorts, one where customers can relax in a plush, masculine environment while experiencing the craft of a perfectly executed haircut, shave or facial using techniques that barbers have perfected over the years.
Dunstans is not a salon or hairdresser, it’s a take on all-male barbershops to be found across the world from London, Paris to Tokyo, New York and beyond .. you know the ones we see in movies, they have a team of 6 professionals who give you the most rewarding experience, and the interior of Dunstans can be described as masculine beauty with a neat row of four workstations.
At Dunstans, each guest’s experience is precious and valued. They are treated to a most welcoming and hospitable grooming experience. And I was fortunate to work with the man who is making the brand shine! It’s none other than Daniel all the way from London who has magic hands. It was so good I think I even dozed off a bit, but all six of them know the art, as each individual barber has been trained by Dunstan’s Founding Consultant, Daniel Rawlinson, a second-generation Master Barber with a wealth of international experience.
They offer a range of services yet keeping the class of an old school barber, from Hair Cuts, Hair Spa, Facials, Express Manicures,Head Massages, Hair Colour, Beard Styling, a Classic Shave or the signature Dunstans Shave, a superior shaving experience with a hydrating Vitamin C eye cream applied at the end, getting you ready to tackle the day.
So if you want that old school experience with modern day conveniences, get yourself to Dunstans!
