Hi guys! This time I'm vlogging in Lithuania, which is my home country! We were in this cool place, called HBH, Pas Juoza, where they have an amazing restaurant, and many different activities, a sculpture park, zip line etc. The video turned out very short, once again, I apologise for that, I will explain in the video what happened :)

Palanga and the Amber Museum / Palanga ed il Museo dell'Ambra - Lithuania

THE CITY -- It is a famous seaside resort and Basanavičiaus gatvė is its main street. Here you can find street artists, pubs, restaurants, attractions and a lot of fun. At the end of the main street a really nice fountain, carved in 1961 by Nijolė Gaigalaitė, recalls the legendary love story between the Goddess Jūratė and the young fisherman Kastytis. The old wooden pier (1890) destroyed by a storm in 1996 and rebuilt in 1998 is another point of interest. THE AMBER MUSEUM -- The museum is located inside the manor-house built in 1897 and owned by Count Feliksas Tiškevičius. It is surrounded by a fantastic park where there are a great varieties of flowers, ponds, small wooden bridges, ancient trees and elegant sculptures. The museum was established on August 3, 1963 and in the 15 rooms you can admire a collection of about 4500 pieces that provides information about the formation, processing and morphological variation of amber. Ablinga is a village in Lithuania, located 48 km (30 mi) east of Klaipėda. First mentioned in the 14th century, The 2001 census recorded village's population of 3 residents.
On June 23, 1941, the second day of the Nazi invasion of Soviet Union, Nazi punitive squadron executed 42 villagers from Ablinga and nearby Žvaginiai (28 men and 14 women) and burned down the houses. In 1972, in memory of the massacre a sculpture park was established on the Žvaginiai hill fort.The ensemble consists of 30 wooden statues, carved by various Lithuanian folk artists (see dievdirbys) and measuring some 6 metres (20 ft) in height. The memorial, as the first monumental display of folk sculptures, was an important development in revival and modernization of the traditional Lithuanian art of wood carving and inspired other similar sculpture parks.

그루타스 공원. 그런데 공원입구부터 특이하다. 감시 초소가 있고, 철조망으로 울타리를 친 이공원의 컨셉은 시베리아 수용소라고 한다. 안으로 들어가면 시베리아로 사람들을 나르던 낡은 기차까지 있다. 그렇다면 이곳에 수용되는 이들은 누굴까. 바로 소련시대의 동상들이다. 이 동상들은 소련시대 리투아니아 전역의 주요장소에 당당히 서 있던 동상들이었다. 그러나 소련으로부터 독립하면서 동상들과 조각상은 시민들의 손에 의해 철거되었다. 한 때 처리방법을 놓고 많은 논란이 있었으나 동상을 용해하거나 파괴하는 대신 이렇게 한데 모아 공원을 만든 것이다. 레닌, 스탈린 등의 동상과 조각상들은 모두 당대의 유명한 조각가들이 만든 작품으로 예술성도 뛰어나다고 한다. 2001년 4월에 완공된 이 공원에는 모두 93개의 동상과 조각상이 전시돼 있다. 공산체제가 무너진 후 대부분의 국가들은 공산주의자들의 동상과 조각상들을 파괴함으로써 일종의 한풀이를 했다. 반면 리투아니아는 그들을 한데 모아 수용소에 가두어 놓는다는 아이디어로 세련된 한풀이를 하고 있는 셈이다. “여기 동상들이 마치 강제수용소에 있는 것처럼 보입니다. 더욱이 이곳의 풀과 나무 등 자연환경이 시베리아와 100% 닮았죠.” 공원에는 박물관과 미술관도 만들어놓았는데 한 해 15만 명이 찾고 있으며, 세계 각지에서 관광객들이 찾아온다고 한다. 특히 자라나는 세대들을 위한 역사교육의 장으로써 큰 역할을 하고 있다고 한다. 또 공원 한쪽에는 식당도 마련되어 있다. 식당에 들어서면 맞이하는 웨이터의 복장이 특이하다. “이 복장은 소련시대 어린이 공산당원 복장입니다.” 특별메뉴 또한 준비되어 있는데, 이름하야 추억의 메뉴. 소련시대 가난한 서민들이 즐겨먹던 음식들이다. 그 중 한 가지를 주문했다. 빵 한 조각에 절인 청어와 보드카 한 잔이 전부. ‘100g은 조국을 위하여, 150g은 당을 위하여, 200g은 스탈린을 위하여’ 보드카는 원 샷으로 해결. 그러나 청어를 얹은 빵은 먹기 괴로웠다. 추억은 함께 기억을 나눈 사람들 끼리 가능한 일일 것이다.

Grūtas Park is a sculpture garden of Soviet-era statues and an exposition of other Soviet ideological relics from the times of the Lithuanian SSR. Founded in 2001 by entrepreneur Viliumas Malinauskas, the park is located near Druskininkai, about 130 kilometres southwest of Vilnius.
After Lithuania regained its independence in 1990, various Soviet statues were taken down and dumped in different places. Malinauskas requested the Lithuanian authorities to grant him the possession of the sculptures, so that he could build a privately financed museum. This Soviet-theme park was created in the wetlands of the Dzūkija National Park. Many of its features are re-creations of Soviet Gulag prison camps: wooden paths, guard towers, and barbed-wire fences.
Its establishment faced some fierce opposition, and its existence is still controversial. Some ideas originally meant to be a part of the park were never allowed. Examples include transporting the visitors in a Gulag-style train. Grūtas Park and its founder Malinauskas won the 2001 Ig Nobel Peace Prize (see List of Ig Nobel Prize winners#2001). Since January 2007 the park has been in dispute with the Lithuanian copyright protection agency. The agency requires royalties to be paid to seven Lithuanian artists who created some of the statues.
The park also contains playgrounds, a mini-zoo and cafes, all containing relics of the Soviet era. On special occasions actors stage re-enactments of various Soviet-sponsored festivals.

Kuršių Nerija National Park is one of the five national parks in Lithuania. It was established in 1991 to protect the unique ecosystems of the Curonian Spit and Curonian Lagoon.
Kuršių Nerija National Park is protected by the state, under the Lithuanian law of Protected Areas. Since 1997 it is a member of EUROPARC federation. The Park has Category II in the classification of the IUCN.
Nagliai nature reserve protects the Dead dunes. Dead (Mirusios), or Gray (Pilkosios) dunes are large sand hills built by strong winds, with ravines and erosions. Nagliai nature reserve is a place for habitats of rare plants, included in the Red Book, four villages and two old cemetery sites that are hiding under the sand. Any human activity is prohibited in the reserve except for scientific observations. The cognitive trail of Nagliai is the only place from which you can explore the reserve’s objects.
