Views from Shannon Pot West Cavan Ireland
Here we can see some of the magnificent views of West Cavan from the Shannon Pot
Shannon Pot : source of the River Shannon
music is Robin Williamson singing Tomorrow Never Knows.
The story, the very short version
Sianonn created the Shannon, hence the name.
She came upon a spotted salmon jumping in this pool,
spots caused by eating rowan berries,
had been told by elders to leave salmon alone,
but she caught one and ate it.
Not only did her mind fill with the knowlege of the world
but the pot overflowed, caused a flood,
cut a trench in the soil and
the current caused by the flow along the trench
dragged Sianonn along.
The trench did not stop forming until where
the town of Shannon, outside Limerick, is today.
By the time Siannon was dragged down to the Atlantic
she had become spirit and found
she could swim upstream back to the pot,
and use her spirit to fertilize all of Ireland as she did,
.... so I though Robin doing this Beatle song very apt.

Blacklion, County Cavan to Manorhamilton, County Leitrim.
A lovely drive from Blacklion in County Cavan to Manorhamilton in County Leitrim, Ireland. It was taken on board a BMW R1200GS with a Kodak ZX1 pocket camcorder on a suction mount. The mount does give a little movement but most of this can be taken out by software when editing. The smaller picture is from a keychain spy camera from ebay at less that £5. This is a lovely part of the country so enjoy.

Cavan Burren Landscape Detectives
In this video, Seamus O' hUltacháin, talks of the mysteries of a megalithic tomb that is part of a stone age settlement in the Cavan Burren in County Cavan Ireland. He consulted with archeologists but wonders if the tomb could properly be called a prototypical tomb. Termed a relict landscape, the Cavan Burren is part of the Marble Arch Caves Global Geopark. This video is part of a geological and archeological walk that Seamus led with Gaby Burns on 1 July 2012 as part of Cathal Bui '12 Blacklion Community Arts & Culture Festival. The Festival is held each year on the last weekend in June.
